Welcome to Ahmadi Answers

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is the only Islamic organization to believe that the long-awaited Messiah has come in the person of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) (1835-1908) of Qadian. Ahmad(as) claimed to be the metaphorical second coming of Jesus(as) of Nazareth and the divine guide, whose advent was foretold by the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad(saw). We believe that according to the Qur’an and the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad(saw) it is clear that the latter day messiah would be an imam from amongst the Muslims. Ahmadiyya Muslim Community believes that God sent Ahmad(as), like Jesus(as), to end religious wars, condemn bloodshed and re-institute morality, justice and peace. Ahmad(as)’s advent has brought about an unprecedented era of Islamic revival. He divested Islam of fanatical beliefs and practices by vigorously championing Islam’s true and essential teachings.

Messiah And Mahdi Are One

Another primary difference between the Ahmadi and non Ahmadi Muslims is in regards to the Messiah and Mahdi being one person with both of these titles. This is misunderstood by many, but if one pays attention to the ahadith this issue becomes extremely clear.

Firstly according to the Qur’an it is clear that the prophets are also called the rightly guided imams or leads. Allah states:

And We made them leaders who guided people by Our command, and We sent revelation to them enjoining the doing of good works, and the observing of Prayer, and the giving of alms. And they were worshippers of Us alone.(Chapter 21 Verse 74)

Now when we turn to the books of Ahadith, all Sunni Muslims agree that after the Qur’an the most Sahih Ahadith books are Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. Now a topic as important as the mahdi would have surely been included in Bukhari and Muslim if it was to be someone other than the messiah. Interestingly enough, both ahadith books make it clear that the messiah of the latter days would be the imam of the Muslims.

The Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw) states :

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said “How will you be when the son of Mary (i.e. Jesus) descends amongst you and is your imam among you.”(Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 4, Book 55, Hadith 658)

When we look in Sahih Muslim the same is stated.

It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) observed: What will be your state when the son of Mary descends amongst you and is an Imam amongst you?(Sahih Muslim, Sahih Muslim 155 d)

This shows us that the messiah who would come would indeed be the imam as well according to the most sahih Books of ahadith. Now when we move forward there is another hadith of Musnad Ahmad which declares Isa(as) to be the imam mahdi.

Narrated Abu Huraira (RA) that Prophet, may Allah bless him, said: “It is near that one who lives from amongst you shall meet ‘Eisa bin Maryam. He will be a rightly guided leader and a just ruler” *(Musnad Ahmad)

The word mahdi has been used in the prayers of Muhammad(saw) for many and simply refers to one who would be rightly guided. For example :

Narrated Jarir:

The Prophet (ﷺ) did not screen himself from me (had never prevented me from entering upon him) since I embraced Islam, and whenever he saw me, he would receive me with a smile. Once I told him that I could not sit firm on horses. He stroked me on the chest with his hand, and said, “O Allah! Make him firm and make him a guiding and a rightly guided man.(Bukhari, Volume 8, Book 73, Hadith #112)

This itself shows that having the title of the mahdi for the messiah(as) of latter days is an obvious fact as the Prophet(saw) prayed for his own people to be rightly guided. Can one say the messiah will not be an imam or the mahdi? Of course not. Its clear that these are only titles for the same person.

Another hadith which goes in line with the hadith of sahih Bukhari, Muslim, and Musnad Ahmad further clears up this issue:

“Adhering to religion will only become harder and worldly affairs will only become more difficult, and people will only become more stingy, and the Hour will only come upon the worst of people, and the only Mahdi (after Muhammad (ﷺ)) is ‘Eisa bin Maryam.”(Ibn Majah Hadith #4039)

Further more it is clear from the Islamic point of view that for the ummah there will only be one khalifa at the time. It is clear that the mahdi and messiah are given the titles of khalifa. It is stated in Tabarani that the latter day messiah would be a khalifa of the ummah while ibn Majah states:

فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهُ فَبَايِعُوهُ وَلَوْ حَبْوًا عَلَى الثَّلْجِ فَإِنَّهُ خَلِيفَةُ اللَّهِ الْمَهْدِيُّ ‏

“When you see them, then pledge your allegiance to them even if you have to crawl over the snow, for that is the caliph of Allah, Mahdi.”(Ibn Majah Hadith #4084)

It is indeed clear that both are also given the title of a caliph but Sahih Muslim makes it clear that there should only be one caliph and if there is more than one you should kill the latter:

It has been narrated on the authority of Aba Sa’id al-Khudri that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

When oath of allegiance has been taken for two caliphs, kill the one for whom the oath was taken later.(Sahih Muslim Hadith #1853)

Now would the people who believe the messiah and Mahdi are two different people kill Isa(as) right when he claims that he is a khalifa? Of course no Muslim can believe such a thing.
Moving on some people have quoted that it states in Sahih Muslim that the mahdi would lead isa(as) in prayer. This is totally false as the imam mahdi is not mentioned anywhere in the book. However, it does indeed state that when the messiah arrives he will lead the prayer:

إِذْ أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلاَةُ فَيَنْزِلُ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ فَأَمَّهُمْ

Certainly, the time of prayer shall come and then Jesus (peace be upon him) son of Mary would descend and would lead them in prayer.(Sahih Muslim #2897)
The hadith the non Ahmadis usually quote is as follows:

Jabir b. ‘Abdullah reported:

I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: A section of my people will not cease fighting for the Truth and will prevail till the Day of Resurrection. He said: Jesus son of Mary would then descend and their (Muslims’) commander would invite him to come and lead them in prayer, but he would say: No, some amongst you are commanders over some (amongst you). This is the honour from Allah for this Ummah.(Sahih Muslim Hadith #156)

This hadith has nothing to do with the mahdi rather shows that the latter day messiah will also let others lead as Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) did. A key point is the ameers mentioned here are in plural as well. He says “commanders over some”

Now another point to make clear is that many of the ahadith on the mahdi are indeed false and have contradictions in them which shows that Muhammad(saw) did not say these ahadith. The same follows for the messiah and the ahadith about him. For example in Ibn Majah it states the imam would lead isa(as) in Palestine but this hadith itself is daif. We also have a narration saying he would come in Jordan in a Valley in Musnad Ahmad which is another contradiction. The most authentic narration is indeed that he would descend to the east of Damascus as Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) did.

‘How can that Ummah be destroyed in whose beginning is me, in whose end is ‘Eisa.”(Tarikh Dimashq)

Here the hadith only mentions Muhammad(saw) and the Messiah. Now the non Ahmadis love to quote another hadith of the same book which also includes the mahdi but this is totally weak as well once we study it.

For example one narrator is named Yaman Ibn Sa’id Al Massisi who is weakned by Imam Dhahabi and Daruqtuni. Yazid Khalid Al Qushayri another narrator is called a liar by Abu Hatim. Another version of this hadith in the same book is also quoted and is weak as well. One narrator Abu Bakr Ahmad Ibn Muhammad is accused of bringing munkar hadith while Caliph al Mansur is accused of not being a man of hadith.

The truth is indeed clear that the messiah and mahdi would indeed be one and the ahadith in regards to the mahdi are full of contradictions which shows they were not all said by the Prophet Muhammad(saw) who made it clear that the messiah and mahdi would indeed be one and the same and that never should the ummah have two caliphs.
Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) states:

“Mine and my Jama`at’s belief about Mahdī and Promised Messiah is that all ahadīth about coming of Mahdī are not reliable and trustworthy. To me, they are under three kinds of criticism, or you can say that they are only of three kinds. First, those ahadīth that are fabricated and wrong and their narrators are blamed of lies and dishonesty, thus no righteous Muslim can trust them. Secondly the ahadīth that are weak and broken and because of mutual contradictions and disagreements cannot be trusted upon. Renowned Imams of hadīth have not either mentioned them altogether or with criticism and doubt. They have not testified these traditions by not confirming the truth and honesty of their narrators. Third category of such ahadīth are those that are though correct and authenticated by many ways but they have either been fulfilled in the past and no waiting period remains for them, or no outwardly Khilafat and battles are mentioned in them. Only a Mahdī, i.e., a guided person is heralded in them. It is not only hinted but also explicitly stated that his kingdom and Khilafat shall not be outwardly and that, he would neither fight not shed blood. He shall have no army but establish faith with the power of spiritual concentration as stated in hadīth “ a a a No Mahdī except Isa” in the book of Ibn-e-Maja known with the same name and in Hakim’s Mustadrik narrated by Anas bin Malik. Muhammad bin Khalid Jundi has narrated from Iban bin Saleh who narrated from Hassan of Basara who narrated from Anas bin Malik who narrated from the Holy Prophet(sa). The meaning of this hadīth is that there shall be no Mahdī except that who shall come in the disposition and teaching-style of Isaas. He shall neither fight the evil not do battles but spread guidance through examples and heavenly signs. The hadīth stated by Imam Bukhari in his Sahi Bukhari supports this hadīth the wordings of that are

“ يضع الحرب”

Yadha-ul-Harb” means that the Mahdī whose other name is Promised Messiah shall abolish religious battles altogether. He shall teach not to fight for religion, but spread religion through illuminations of truth, miracles of morality and signs of nearness of God. Therefore, truly I say that one who fights for religion at this time or supports such fighter or advises him apparently or secretly, or have such desires in his heart, is disobedient of Allah and His Messenger and has stepped out of the limits of their wills and obligations.” (Haqiqat-ul-Mahdī PP 3-6, RK Vol-14 PP 429-432)

It is indeed clear that they are one and the same person with the title of the messiah and mahdi and that this person would be from the ummah of Muhammad(saw). Many scholars have also had this view from the past and here are some examples. One has to however remember, that the Qur’an and Ahadith have already made it clear that they are one, so even if the scholars differed, one should accept the Qur’an and Ahadith.

Here are some statements of scholars:

أنه لا يجوز أن يكون على المسلمين في وقت واحد في جميع الدنيا إمامان لا متفقان ولا متفرقان.

“It is impermissible for the Muslims at one single time throughout the world to have two divergent Imams, whether they are concordant nor divergent”. [Al-Mīzān al-Kubrā 2/131]

Imam An Nawawi, who is one of the greatest Shafi scholars, has stated in Ash Sharh:

واتفق العلماء على أنه لا يجوز أن يعقد الخليفتين في عصر واحد سواء اتسعت دار الإسلام أم لا.

“The scholars have come into an agreement that it is impermissible that two disparate caliphs are appointed at one single period, same either Dar al-Islam expands or not”. [Sharḥ Sahih Muslim 12/232]

Ibn Hazm Az Zahiri, who is a scholar from the fourth Hijri has stated:

ولا يحل أن يكون في الدنيا إلا إمام واحد.

“It is not legal in the world except only one single Imam”. [al-Muḥalla 9/360]

Imam Al Mawardi, has stated:

وإذا عقدت الإمامة لإمامين في بلدين لم تنعقد إمامتهما لأنه لا يجوز أن يكون للأمة إمامان في وقت واحد.

“If Imamah is disposed for two Imāms in two variant countries, their Imamah is not warrantable as it is impermissible for Ummah to have two Imams at one single time”. [al-Aḥkam as-Sulṭaniyyah 1/10]

Now will the non Ahmadi Muslims decide to kill the mahdi? Or would they kill Jesus(as)? This references and ahadith which were quoted earlier, clearly show that the messiah and mahdi are indeed one and the same.

Ibn al-Qayyim has stated:

إنما المهدي عيسى ابن مريم، يعني المهدي الكامل المعصوم.

“Al-Mahdi is only Jesus Son of Maryam(as). I.e. the Perfect and Masum Mahdi”. [al-Manār al-Munīf p. 148]

Imam Qurtubi has stated:

لا مهدي كاملا معصوما إلا عيسى.

“There is no Perfect and Infallible Mahdi except Jesus(as)”. [at-Tadhkirah 2/723]

Mujahid Ibn Jabr has stated:

حدثنا الوليد بن عتبة؛ عن زائدة، عن ليث، عن مجاهد، قال: المهدي عيسى ابن مريم.

“Al-Walid ibn ‘Utbah narrated to us; from Zā’idah, from Layth, from Mujāhid, he said: Al-Mahdi is Jesus Son of Maryamas”. [al-Muṣannaf, Kitab al-Fitan, no. 38660]

Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) states:

“Whosoever presumes that al-Mahdī al-Ma‘hūd and al-Masīḥ al-Mau‘ūd are two different persons who will come out as two Mujāhids and unsheathe sword upon Christians and Pagans, he has already calumniated against Allāh and His Messenger(saw)the Seal of the Prophets. He has also said a saying which has no basis from the Holy Qur’ān, ḥadīth, and sayings of the examiners (muḥaqqiq). But, the fixed truth is that there is no Mahdī except Jesus(as), no war, and no sword nor alqanā (stick which thereon is arrow) picked. This is what is fixed from our Prophet al-Muṣṭafā(saw) No word is calumniated. Aṣ-Ṣaḥīḥayn had already bore witness to it in the previous centuries by forsaking such aḥādīth. Therein is verily a fix for those who are endued with reason. Look, then, if you are among the possessor of righteousness”. [Ḥaqīqat al-Mahdī, included Rūḥānī-e-Khazā’in, v. 14, p. 455-456]

Ahmad(as) has also stated that the ahadith regarding the Mahdi(as) have contradictions and whatever contradicts the Qur’an should not be accepted, for example the mahdi being a killer and forcing people to convert. Ahmad(as) states:

“The conclusion is that these aḥādīth, all of them, are not free from discrepancies and contradictions. Therefore, isolate yourself from them! Return all the contrarieties of ḥadīth to the Qur’ān then make it as judge to them! So, the verity becomes clear for you and you thus transform to be among those who grasp the verity. If you accept aḥādīth along with their strength of difference and contradictions and their degradation from the rank of surety (martabah al-yaqīn), how much you must do to accept al-Qur’ān the Definite the Sure which falsehood can not approach it neither from the front nor from the back, if you desire to follow the tracks of surety”. [Ḥamāmat al-Bushrā, included Rūḥānī-e-Khazā’in, v. 7, p. 315]

He (as) further states:

“Alongside it, it has been fixed that aḥādīth concerning the invader and fighter Mahdī from the lineage of Ḥaḍrat Fāṭimah az-Zahrā(ra) are ḍa‘īf majrūḥ all of them, the majority of them are nay fabricated (mauḍū‘), and from the part of calumniation. Their narrators are not trusted, their fixing has been troublesome for the scholars of ḥadīth. Therefore, al-Imām al-Bukhārī, al-Imām Muslim, and the Gallant Imām the Author of al-Muwaṭṭa‘ (Mālik ibn Anas) forsake them and a lot of muḥaddith criticize them”. [Ḥaqīqat al-Mahdī, included Rūḥānī-e-Khazā’in, v. 14, p. 455-456

Peace and Justice

Many non Ahmadi Muslims quote the ahadith which state that the Messiah(as) and Mahdi(as) would bring peace to the world. They need to understand that these ahadith have to be interpreted in a way where the Qur’an is not contradicted and also understood properly. Firstly the Qur’an states:

And from those also who say, ‘We are Christians,’ We took a covenant, but they too have forgotten a good part of that with which they were exhorted. So We have caused enmity and hatred among them till the Day of Resurrection. And Allah will soon let them know what they have been doing.(Chapter 5 verse 15)

Allah has Told us in the Qur’an that the Christians will have enmity and hatred among them until the Day of Judgment. This shows that there will not be peace within the Christians. Allah Has said Similar in regards to the Jews. Allah States:

And the Jews say, ‘The hand of Allah is tied up.’ Their own hands shall be tied up and they shall be cursed for what they say. Nay, both His hands are wide open; He spends how He pleases. And what has been sent down to thee from thy Lord will most surely increase many of them in rebellion and disbelief. And We have cast among them enmity and hatred till the Day of Resurrection. Whenever they kindle a fire for war, Allah extinguishes it. And they strive to create disorder in the earth, and Allah loves not those who create disorder. (Chapter 5 verse 65)

Allah Has also Shown us that there will not be entire peace within the Jews because of their disbelief. There are also ahadith in regards to the messiah and mahdi spreading peace and bringing peace to the earth, however many of those ahadith have weak chains and others have a deeper meaning.

There are two different approaches to answer this question. The first approach is that when a prophecy is made, and the time duration is not mentioned, people become hasty and want the prophecy to be fulfilled in their lifetime, although the prophecy might apply to many many generations and it is ultimately fulfilled in 1000 or 2000 years. When we look at the prophecies of the Qur’an in regards to the Prophecies of the Holy Prophet(saw) we see that the Qur’an states:

He it is Who has sent His Messenger, with guidance and the Religion of truth, that He may make it prevail over all other religions. And sufficient is Allah as a Witness. (Chapter 48 Verse 29)

This prophecy took place 1400 years ago, and in every 100 years one, two or three generations passed away. 40 generations have passed away and this prophecy is still not fulfilled yet. The number of Muslims in comparison to the non Muslims, there is a huge difference. Even in countries like India we are a minority against Hindus. We are a minority against Christians till today and also against atheists. 1400 years have passed since this prophecy. Now if a non Muslim asked this question, what would be the answer? The truth is that an unlimiate phase has been described and the ball is still in play. The same applies here. Peace will ultimately established throughout the world, although the Christians and Jews will continue to fight. The Holy Prophet(saw) stated that when the Messiah would come there would be two great people, two great nations that would be so powerful that it would not be possible for man to fight them. Allah will Reveal to the Messiah to go to the mountain and pray to your lord as He can only destroy them. The same people, Gog and Magog, are described in the Holy Qur’an as the ones who will fight each other and they will ultimately fight each other and be destroyed. Unless these two nations fight against each other, this peace cannot be established. His words should be interpreted in the light of his own words rather than the interpretation of others. Before the coming of the peace the two nations had to fight each other and be exhausted as the Qur’an tells us. If a good is promised to a people, that promise is always conditional towards the reply and attitude of the people. The Qur’an clearly states that the Holy Prophet(saw) has come to give us a new life. How many are there that achieved this life? He(saw) was sent for the entire world, but only a minority achieved this. Peace was established by Ahmad(as) to Ahmadis while the other Ahmadis are living a life of Hell. When we look at the life of other people around the world, its clear that we feel like we are in paradise. Its clear that the world is suffering but this jamaat is continuing to progress. This peace was given to Ahmadis by Ahmad(as) and it is confined to those who accepted him. All of the benefits of Muhammad(saw) flowed to the direction of those who accepted him. If the reward is bigger, so is the punishment. If the peace is denied by man, while Allah offered the peace, the man will suffer from hell which he has not suffered before. If people in Pakistan were to become Ahmadi today even they would become one of the greatest people on the earth. These are benefits of Ahmadiyyat but are given only to those who accept and submit. These points are from the Fourth Khalifa, Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad(ra)

Moses(as) Alive According to Ahmad(as)?

The anti Ahmadi Muslims have a habit of taking writings of the Promised Messiah(as), Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) completely out of context and this is what they have been doing for over hundred years and are having no success at all, yet they continue. The new allegation they bring up is they try to state Ahmad(as) believed that Moses(as) was physically alive. This is a clear lie. They quote that Ahmad(as) stated you cannot find ayahs about Isa(as) like the ayahs in the Qur’an about Musa(as). It states in the Qur’an that he had a meeting the the messenger Muhammad(saw) while a dead person cannot meet a living person. Ahmad(as) is making it clear here that there are so much proofs for the death of Isa(as) yet you believe that he is alive, and there are proofs in the Qur’an that suggest Moses(as) is alive, yet you say he is dead which makes no sense. Of course we have to remember that Moses(as) and all other prophets are spiritually alive, however Ahmad(as) showed a hypothetical statement here showing that there is more proof for Moses(as) being alive than Isa(as) yet we consider him dead. Ahmad(as) shows that the Qur’an clearly declares Isa(as) to be dead but does not clearly declare Moses(as) to be dead, yet they decide to keep Isa(as) alive and Moses(as) dead. In reality we know from the Qur’an and the teachings of Ahmad(as) and the ijma of the sahaba that all prophets before Nabi(saw) have died. Allah states:

And Muhammad is only a Messenger. Verily, all Messengers have passed away before him. If then he die or be slain, will you turn back on your heels? And he who turns back on his heels shall not harm Allah at all. And Allah will certainly reward the grateful. (Chapter 3 verse 145)

The second passages they quote are also completely out of context. They quote:

Ahmad(as) here is also using the same hypothetical argument and shows us that he has given a lot of arguments for the death of Isa(as) whose death is clear, while the death of Moses(as) is not as clear. He also states that hypothetically that because of this it should be fard on us that we should believe Moses(as) is alive in the heavens and not among the dead, rather than Isa(as). This was only a hypothetical statement as the anti Ahmadis forget to read the very next page where Ahmad(as) states:

Ahmad(as) right on the next page makes it clear that all prophets before Isa(as) have died according to the Qur’an by quoting:

The Messiah, son of Mary, was only a Messenger; surely, Messengers like unto him had indeed passed away before him. And his mother was a truthful woman. They both used to eat food. See how We explain the Signs for their good, and see how they are turned away. (Chapter 5 verse 76)

If the anti Ahmadis were sincere and truthful such an allegation would never arise. All they had to do was read the very next page where Ahmad(as) makes everything clear in the first few sentences.

Fasal Khitab Translations?

Allegation that in Fasal al Khitab the First Khalifa translated “all messengers as some” and qabla mauthihi was attributed to Isa:

Fasal Al Khitab was written by the first Khalifa, Hazrat Hakim Maulana Noorudin (ra). Now the part the Anti Ahmadiyya fail to consider is that Fasal Al Khitab was written (first edition) in 1305 Hijri which is around 1887. Ahmad(As) was told by Allah that Isa(As) has died in 1308 Hijri which is around 1891! They try to falsely quote writings which were way before Allah had told Ahmad(As) that Isa(As) died which shows their ignorance.. These writings have no worth when it comes to such topics which Allah himself clarified.

Ijtihad Of Abu Hurairah (ra)

The next is not a hadith rather an interpretation attributed to Abu Hurairah. Firstly this statement contradicts Qur’an that all would accept Isa(as) however this complete contradicts Qur’an so even if said by him we cannot accept it as it not only contradicts the Quran but all the other ahadith proofs. This is not a hadith rather his own interpretation which he has not expounded on which leaves us in ignorance in regards to his true belief on the latter day messiah.

It is indeed true that he was a great companion, however his depth of understanding was not the best and this is not only a statement said by us, rather many non Ahmadis. He would be corrected by many companions during his lifetime.

Usulush-Shashi states:

“The second category which exists among the narrators of Hadith

is of those who are renowned for their remarkable memory and honesty, but cannot be relied upon for their Ijtihad or religious verdicts, such as, Abu Hurairah (ra) and Anas bin Malik (ra).”

In Tafsir-e-Mazhari it is stated:

“In the verse under discussion it is incorrect to attribute the

second pronoun (i.e., in Qabla mautihi) towards Jesus (as). This is merely a notion of Hadrat Abu Hurairah (ra) and it is not supported by the Hadith at

all.”

The ayah has been explained in depth already as follows and I can simply say that Abu Hurairah(Ra) was showing that it would be a different person as the ayah says that isa(As) of past would only be a witness on the day of judgement, so Abu Hurairah used this statement to show the death of Isa(as). My statement holds as much weight as yours as he did not explain it.

Here is the Ayah with its true meaning:
People of The Book Would Believe?

And there is none among the People of the Book but will believe in it before his death; and on the Day of Resurrection, he (Jesus) shall be a witness against them —(Chapter 4 Verse 160)

This verse is one of the ayahs in the Qur’an which has such a confusion on many non Ahmadis sadly but this can easily be cleared up once the Qur’an is read in context. This verse in context and many other ayahs in context as well need to be read to understand this ayah. Firstly the pronoun it refers to the false belief that Jesus(as) died on the cross so this signifies that till their death the Jews and the Christians will believe that Isa(as) died on the cross as this is the creed of their belief. If Jesus(as) didn’t die on the cross both the faith of the Christians and Jews are in danger. Some Sunnis have referred to qabla mauthihi referring to Isa(As) but this is simply ridiculous for many reasons. Firstly let it be made clear that Isa(as) was successful in his mission and was granted a clear victory as all other prophets were. Having victory was never the entire world accepting the prophet as there has always been a party of people who reject the messengers of Allah.

Now let’s read this ayah in context. It is revealed right after the ayah which states that Messiah Son of Mary was not killed nor crucified. This is continuing onto the misconception that Isa(As) was killed on the cross. The surah and ayahs in context show the faults of the Jews and Christians it would not make sense to out of nowhere state that all of the Christians and Jews would become better then entire mankind by accepting the prophet sent to them. So the hi mentioned in la yu minanna bihi refers to the Ahlul Kitab and is referring to their confusion of believing that Isa(As) died on the cross. The Qabla mauthi does not refer to Jesus(as) rather to the person of the ahlul kitab. This shows that all of them will believe he died on the cross since without this both faiths are in vain.

Now here are some points one has to consider. The ayah does not exclude anyone from the people of the book. So according to the non Ahmadi interpretation all have to believe in Jesus(as) before the death but how about the millions who have died already without accepting Jesus(as)? Will they all come back to life and accept Jesus(As) even though Qur’an says the dead do not come back to life physically? How would the non Ahmadis reply to this? The Arabic puts together the words in and min which is referred to as hasr in Arabic grammar and includes all. No one from the people of the book can be excluded. The ayah states “And there is none among the People of the Book” so how can you justify the millions who rejected Isa(As) and have already died and are dying as a type? Was this a false saying by Allah God forbid?

Secondly the ayah right after states that “And on the day of resurrection, he (Jesus) shall be a witness against them” This shows us that it will be on the day of resurrection where Jesus(as) will be a witness against them not before. Secondly it states that he would be a witness against them. Why would Jesus(as) be against them if all will accept him?

Now the biggest complication with their interpretation of this ayah is it created contradiction in the Qur’an. This book cannot have any contradictions. Allah has stated:

Will they not, then, meditate upon the Qur’an? Had it been from anyone other than Allah, they would surely have found therein much disagreement.(Chapter 4 verse 83)

The Qur’an is the greatest book and has no contradictions but sadly the non Ahmadi interpretation causes many contradictions by claiming all will accept Jesus(as) and become Muslim. Here are some clear ayahs that prove that firstly only a few Jews were made to accept, and secondly that the disbelievers will remain till day of judgment. Christians and Jews are in fact both mentioned by name.

Then, because of their breaking of their covenant, and their denial of the Signs of Allah, and their seeking to kill the Prophets unjustly, and their saying: ‘Our hearts are wrapped in covers,’ — nay, but Allah has sealed them because of their disbelief, so they believe not but little —(Chapter 4 Verse 156)

We were just speaking in context. Now I ask the non Ahmadis whether they have read the ayah of the Jews and Christians believing in it in context? Just four ayahs before Allah has made it clear that from the Jews they do not believe but little. A minority of them believe. Allah has sealed them because of their disbelief which caused only a little of them believe. This leaves no room left for one to claim the entire mankind will follow a prophet whom Qur’an says has already died.

The next ayah is chapter 3 verse 56 which despite proving the death of Isa(as) also proves that the disbelievers would remain till the day of judgment:

When Allah said, ‘O Jesus, I will cause thee to die a natural death and will exalt thee to Myself, and will clear thee from the charges of those who disbelieve, and will place those who follow thee above those who disbelieve, until the Day of Resurrection; then to Me shall be your return, and I will judge between you concerning that wherein you differ. (Chapter 3 verse 56)

Allah makes it clear that he will place those who follow Isa(as) above those who disbelieve until the day of resurrection which shows us once again that disbelievers will remain till the day of judgment.

Now here are two ayahs which mention both the Christians and the Jews by name, that they will indeed exist till the day of judgement:

And from those also who say, ‘We are Christians,’ We took a covenant, but they too have forgotten a good part of that with which they were exhorted. So We have caused enmity and hatred among them till the Day of Resurrection. And Allah will soon let them know what they have been doing.(Chapter 5 verse 15)

This ayah has clearly stated that Allah has taken a covenant from the Christians and has caused enmity and hatred among them till the day of resurrection. Now for them to have enmity and hatred they have to exist so how can one say they will have hate and enmity till day of judgment but not be in existence? This is another contradiction which the non Ahmadi interpretation causes which cannot be accepted.

Again Allah states:

And the Jews say, ‘The hand of Allah is tied up.’ Their own hands shall be tied up and they shall be cursed for what they say. Nay, both His hands are wide open; He spends how He pleases. And what has been sent down to thee from thy Lord will most surely increase many of them in rebellion and disbelief. And We have cast among them enmity and hatred till the Day of Resurrection. Whenever they kindle a fire for war, Allah extinguishes it. And they strive to create disorder in the earth, and Allah loves not those who create disorder. (Chapter 5 verse 65)

This ayah is also really clear and states that in regards to the Jews Allah has caused enmity and hatred till the day of resurrection. Once again Jews have to be present for there to be hatred and animosity amongst them. The verse next ayah Allah states:

And if the People of the Book had believed and been righteous, We would surely have removed from them their evils and We would surely have admitted them into Gardens of Bliss.(Chapter 5 Verse 66)

Allah has clearly stated that if the People of the book Had believed and been righteous. This shows that they will not believe till qiyamah nor be righteous. How can a Muslim possibly accept a view of a verse which contradicts over 40 ayahs of the Holy Qur’an?

Again Allah has stated:

And those who disbelieve will not cease to be in doubt about it until the Hour comes suddenly upon them or there comes to them the punishment of a destructive day.

This ayah has also told us that they would disbelieve until the hour comes upon and that suddenly upon them or there comes to them the punishment of a destructive day.

These include imam Bukhari(ra), Imam Dhahabi(ra) and Ibn Hajr Asqalani(Ra)so be careful when quoting such tafsir.

How Did Ali Ibn Abi Talha Narrate from Ibn Abbas(ra)?

The non Ahmadis state imam Bukhari did not give the sanad of inni mutawaffika mumeetooka. This trick might work against people who are unaware of what Ahadith or sayings are. This is used as a betrayal. Ulama read these books and read tafseer and they should know the truth rather then use this allegation. Hazrat Imam Bukhari(Ra) stated things of many sahaba and tabieen and never gave sanad of any of them. Does this mean they are fabricated? Of course not. Read the sharah of Sahih Bukhari. It states that if Imam Bukhari states the statements of Sahaba or tabieen and does not give the sanad, all of those are SAHIH. In Bukharis sharha it says if Imam Bukhari (ra) has said before a sahaba: kalah or ravah, it means that Hazrat Imam Bukhari (ra) has stated that its sahih! Imam Suyuti(ra) has also stated this. Ibn Hajar(Ra) who wrote fathul Bari has also stated this in his commentary of Bukhari which is the greatest tafsir of Bukhari.

Sahih Bukhari is known to be most authentic book after the Quran. If Bukhari has statements of sahaba and tabieen without sanad and are all fabricated then how can it be the most authentic after Quran. Ibn Hajar has written that when Imam Bukhari states anything about a sahaba with kalah or ravah THEY ARE ALL AUTHENTIC with AUTHENTIC SANAD.

Imam Suyuti(ra) has written about the statements about ibn Abbas(Ra) and that Ali Ibn Talha sanads and states him first, and says that any sanad from Ibn Abbas(ra) through Ali Ibn Talha IS THE MOST SAHIH which was from Ali Ibn Talha and nowadays they say this is the worst Naudhobillah. He also states that the tafseer of Ibn Abbas(ra) has stated a lot of statements and the best ones are narrated from Ali Ibn Talha.

Imam Suyuti(ra) has stated about Ibn Hajar that he states that Ibn Abbas(ra) tafseer were available to Abu Saleh, and those were from Muaviyyah bin saleh who got them from Ali Ibn Talha narrated from Ibn Abbas(Ra). Ibn Hajar(ra) states that Imam Bukhari (ra) got the book of Abu Saleh and Imam Bukhari(ra) in sahih Bukhari has stated many countless things in Sahih Bukhari from this. They state Ali Ibn Talha did not meet Ibn Abbas(ra). Well Ibn Hajar(ra) states that people claim Ali Ibn Talha did not hear tafseer from Ibn Abbas(Ra) but also states right after that Ibn Abi Talha got the tafseer of Ibn Abbas(ra) either from mujahid or Saeed bin Zubair. Then he states that when I found out that Ibn Abi Talha got the tafseer of Ibn Abbas from such people, no concern was left.

Even Imam Dhahabi Has accepted the narrations from Ali Ibn Abi Talha and so have countless of scholars:

I will now attach further proof on its sanad:

Fathul Bari Greatest commentary of Sahih Bukhari to Non Ahmadi Muslims:

Sharah:

Da’if Hadith Of Ibn Maja

Another hadith many quote is from ibn maja which attributes Isa(as) to have said he would descend (during the miraj ) and kill dajjal. There is really no point of discussing this as your biggest scholar has graded it daif which should be a suffice answer. Albani is not someone small rather known as a great scholar amongst the non Ahmadi Muslims. He was a staunch believer of the coming of Jesus(as) and even he has declared this hadith to be da’if as its chains are corrupt. There is a reason he declared it da’if. He was a staunch believer in Isa(as) being alive, and despite this, he agreed this hadith is not authentic. Both ways it cannot be accepted because it contradicts the Qur’an.

My question remains as to why the non Ahmadi Muslims look for ahadith, even though they are not authentic, in trying to prove that Isa(as) is alive when the Qur’an is clear on his death? Another statement which should be made is that many ahadith books mention the miraj in quite an amount of detail, including Bukhari. Bukhari mentions the Miraj beautifully. It is stated:

Narrated `Abbas bin Malik:

Malik bin Sasaa said that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) described to them his Night Journey saying, “While I was lying in Al-Hatim or Al-Hijr, suddenly someone came to me and cut my body open from here to here.” I asked Al-Jarud who was by my side, “What does he mean?” He said, “It means from his throat to his pubic area,” or said, “From the top of the chest.” The Prophet (ﷺ) further said, “He then took out my heart. Then a gold tray of Belief was brought to me and my heart was washed and was filled (with Belief) and then returned to its original place. Then a white animal which was smaller than a mule and bigger than a donkey was brought to me.” (On this Al-Jarud asked, “Was it the Buraq, O Abu Hamza?” I (i.e. Anas) replied in the affirmative). The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “The animal’s step (was so wide that it) reached the farthest point within the reach of the animal’s sight. I was carried on it, and Gabriel set out with me till we reached the nearest heaven. When he asked for the gate to be opened, it was asked, ‘Who is it?’ Gabriel answered, ‘Gabriel.’ It was asked, ‘Who is accompanying you?’ Gabriel replied, ‘Muhammad.’ It was asked, ‘Has Muhammad been called?’ Gabriel replied in the affirmative. Then it was said, ‘He is welcomed. What an excellent visit his is!’ The gate was opened, and when I went over the first heaven, I saw Adam there. Gabriel said (to me). ‘This is your father, Adam; pay him your greetings.’ So I greeted him and he returned the greeting to me and said, ‘You are welcomed, O pious son and pious Prophet.’ Then Gabriel ascended with me till we reached the second heaven. Gabriel asked for the gate to be opened. It was asked, ‘Who is it?’ Gabriel answered, ‘Gabriel.’ It was asked, ‘Who is accompanying you?’ Gabriel replied, ‘Muhammad.’ It was asked, ‘Has he been called?’ Gabriel answered in the affirmative. Then it was said, ‘He is welcomed. What an excellent visit his is!’ The gate was opened. When I went over the second heaven, there I saw Yahya (i.e. John) and `Isa (i.e. Jesus) who were cousins of each other. Gabriel said (to me), ‘These are John and Jesus; pay them your greetings.’ So I greeted them and both of them returned my greetings to me and said, ‘You are welcomed, O pious brother and pious Prophet.’ Then Gabriel ascended with me to the third heaven and asked for its gate to be opened. It was asked, ‘Who is it?’ Gabriel replied, ‘Gabriel.’ It was asked, ‘Who is accompanying you?’ Gabriel replied, ‘Muhammad.’ It was asked, ‘Has he been called?’ Gabriel replied in the affirmative. Then it was said, ‘He is welcomed, what an excellent visit his is!’ The gate was opened, and when I went over the third heaven there I saw Joseph. Gabriel said (to me), ‘This is Joseph; pay him your greetings.’ So I greeted him and he returned the greeting to me and said, ‘You are welcomed, O pious brother and pious Prophet.’ Then Gabriel ascended with me to the fourth heaven and asked for its gate to be opened. It was asked, ‘Who is it?’ Gabriel replied, ‘Gabriel’ It was asked, ‘Who is accompanying you?’ Gabriel replied, ‘Muhammad.’ It was asked, ‘Has he been called?’ Gabriel replied in the affirmative. Then it was said, ‘He is welcomed, what an excel lent visit his is!’ The gate was opened, and when I went over the fourth heaven, there I saw Idris. Gabriel said (to me), ‘This is Idris; pay him your greetings.’ So I greeted him and he returned the greeting to me and said, ‘You are welcomed, O pious brother and pious Prophet.’ Then Gabriel ascended with me to the fifth heaven and asked for its gate to be opened. It was asked, ‘Who is it?’ Gabriel replied, ‘Gabriel.’ It was asked. ‘Who is accompanying you?’ Gabriel replied, ‘Muhammad.’ It was asked, ‘Has he been called?’ Gabriel replied in the affirmative. Then it was said He is welcomed, what an excellent visit his is! So when I went over the fifth heaven, there I saw Harun (i.e. Aaron), Gabriel said, (to me). This is Aaron; pay him your greetings.’ I greeted him and he returned the greeting to me and said, ‘You are welcomed, O pious brother and pious Prophet.’ Then Gabriel ascended with me to the sixth heaven and asked for its gate to be opened. It was asked. ‘Who is it?’ Gabriel replied, ‘Gabriel.’ It was asked, ‘Who is accompanying you?’ Gabriel replied, ‘Muhammad.’ It was asked, ‘Has he been called?’ Gabriel replied in the affirmative. It was said, ‘He is welcomed. What an excellent visit his is!’ When I went (over the sixth heaven), there I saw Moses. Gabriel said (to me),’ This is Moses; pay him your greeting. So I greeted him and he returned the greetings to me and said, ‘You are welcomed, O pious brother and pious Prophet.’ When I left him (i.e. Moses) he wept. Someone asked him, ‘What makes you weep?’ Moses said, ‘I weep because after me there has been sent (as Prophet) a young man whose followers will enter Paradise in greater numbers than my followers.’ Then Gabriel ascended with me to the seventh heaven and asked for its gate to be opened. It was asked, ‘Who is it?’ Gabriel replied, ‘Gabriel.’ It was asked,’ Who is accompanying you?’ Gabriel replied, ‘Muhammad.’ It was asked, ‘Has he been called?’ Gabriel replied in the affirmative. Then it was said, ‘He is welcomed. What an excellent visit his is!’ So when I went (over the seventh heaven), there I saw Abraham. Gabriel said (to me), ‘This is your father; pay your greetings to him.’ So I greeted him and he returned the greetings to me and said, ‘You are welcomed, O pious son and pious Prophet.’ Then I was made to ascend to Sidrat-ul-Muntaha (i.e. the Lote Tree of the utmost boundary) Behold! Its fruits were like the jars of Hajr (i.e. a place near Medina) and its leaves were as big as the ears of elephants. Gabriel said, ‘This is the Lote Tree of the utmost boundary) . Behold ! There ran four rivers, two were hidden and two were visible, I asked, ‘What are these two kinds of rivers, O Gabriel?’ He replied,’ As for the hidden rivers, they are two rivers in Paradise and the visible rivers are the Nile and the Euphrates.’ Then Al-Bait-ul-Ma’mur (i.e. the Sacred House) was shown to me and a container full of wine and another full of milk and a third full of honey were brought to me. I took the milk. Gabriel remarked, ‘This is the Islamic religion which you and your followers are following.’ Then the prayers were enjoined on me: They were fifty prayers a day. When I returned, I passed by Moses who asked (me), ‘What have you been ordered to do?’ I replied, ‘I have been ordered to offer fifty prayers a day.’ Moses said, ‘Your followers cannot bear fifty prayers a day, and by Allah, I have tested people before you, and I have tried my level best with Bani Israel (in vain). Go back to your Lord and ask for reduction to lessen your followers’ burden.’ So I went back, and Allah reduced ten prayers for me. Then again I came to Moses, but he repeated the same as he had said before. Then again I went back to Allah and He reduced ten more prayers. When I came back to Moses he said the same, I went back to Allah and He ordered me to observe ten prayers a day. When I came back to Moses, he repeated the same advice, so I went back to Allah and was ordered to observe five prayers a day. When I came back to Moses, he said, ‘What have you been ordered?’ I replied, ‘I have been ordered to observe five prayers a day.’ He said, ‘Your followers cannot bear five prayers a day, and no doubt, I have got an experience of the people before you, and I have tried my level best with Bani Israel, so go back to your Lord and ask for reduction to lessen your follower’s burden.’ I said, ‘I have requested so much of my Lord that I feel ashamed, but I am satisfied now and surrender to Allah’s Order.’ When I left, I heard a voice saying, ‘I have passed My Order and have lessened the burden of My Worshipers.”(Sahih Bukhari Hadith #3887)

How can it miss such a detail if it in reality occurred? Furthermore, an example from the Qur’an in regards to the death of Isa(as) which no answer has been given to will now be given.

Allah states:

And when Allah will say, “O Jesus, son of Mary, didst thou say to men, ‘Take me and my mother for two gods beside Allah?’”, he will answer, “Holy art Thou. I could never say that to which I had no right. If I had said it, Thou wouldst have surely known it. Thou knowest what is in my mind, and I know not what is in Thy mind. It is only Thou Who art the Knower of hidden things. “I said nothing to them except that which Thou didst command me — ‘Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord.’ And I was a witness over them as long as I remained among them, but since Thou didst cause me to die, Thou hast been the Watcher over them; and Thou art Witness over all things. (Chapter 5 Verses 117-118)

These verses are a dialogue between Allah and Jesus(as) on the day of judgement. Allah asks Isa(as) whether it was his reasoning and teaching and that if he was the one who taught his followers to take himself and his mother as gods. Jesus(as) responded to this by saying : “I was a witness over them as long as I remained among them”. This statement shows that Jesus(As) is taking full responsibility for the people while he was alive and a guardian over them. He assures that as long as he was with the people and among them, they followed they right path and did not commit shirk, rather worshiped on God alone. The next statement of Isa(as) is that he states that he cannot be blamed nor held responsible for what the people did and the misguidance they followed, after Allah caused him to die, since he was no longer among them to guide them. Isa(as) explains this in the next statement where he states: since Thou didst cause me to die, Thou hast been the Watcher over them; and Thou art Witness over all things. It is obvious that in this context tawaffaitani can mean nothing other then death nor in any context can it mean anything other then death (unless sleep or night is mentioned) which will be proven.

These verses also conclude and lead to the conclusion that Isa(As) would not return physically in the latter days as that would contradict the perfect book, the Holy Quran. If we do for arguments sake accept that Isa(As) went into the heavens 2000 years ago and will return, then this statement In the Quran cannot be true as he claims Allah was a watcher after he left them and Allah alone. Either you say the Quran is creating a contradiction God forbid, Isa(As) is lying, or he has died. An open minded person after reading this verse would agree he has died. The Promised Messiah(as) states in the Will :

The meaning [of this verse], in the context of the relevant verses, is that on the Day of Judgement God will ask ‘Isa(as), “Was it you yourself who taught your followers ‘Believe in me and my mother as gods?’ “. To this he will reply, ‘As long as I remained among them I was witness over them and was their custodian, but after You caused me to die, how could I know what the heresy was with respect to which they had gone astray!’ Now, if one desires one can take the verse to mean ‘When You caused me to die;’ or if one so desires, without abandoning one’s unjustified obduracy, one can take it to mean: ‘When You raised me to Heaven with my physical body.’ In any event, this verse proves that ‘Isa(as) will not return to this world. For had he come again to this world and had he [having returned to this world] broken the Cross, then in that case it would not be possible that ‘Isa(as), who is a Prophet(as) of God, should tell such a blatantly plain lie in the presence of God on the Day of Judgment viz., ‘I have no knowledge whatsoever that after me my people adopted a false creed and made me and my mother gods’. Can a person who returns to this world and lives in it for forty years and fights battles against Christians, tell such detestable lie—i.e. ‘I am totally ignorant of it all’—even though he is a Prophet? Thus the above verse prevents the return of ‘Isa(as) because, otherwise, he has to be taken for a liar. If he is in Heaven with his physical body and, as the above verse elucidates, will not descend on the earth till the Day of Judgment, will he die in Heaven and will his grave be in Heaven, while his dying in Heaven is contradicted by the verse He said, “Therein you will live, and therein you will die, and from it you will be brought forth.”. Hence, all this proves that he [‘Isa(as)] did not ascend to Heaven with his physical body but went to Heaven after having died. If to oppose the Book of God, when it has given an explicit verdict, is not a sin, then what else is sin? (The Will page 17-19)

If Isa(as) was to return in the latter days here was the perfect time he could have mentioned it but yet he is even ignorant of the fact that he was worshipped. He would tell Allah that I was a watcher over them not only once before my tawaffi but once after it too.

The Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw) quoted this exact same verse in regards to the condition of his sahaba and even quoted Isa(As) and falamma tawaffaitani as death.

Narrated Ibn `Abbas:

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) delivered a sermon and said, “O people! You will be gathered before Allah barefooted, naked and not circumcised.” Then (quoting Qur’an) he said:– “As We began the first creation, We shall repeat it. A promise We have undertaken: Truly we shall do it..” (21.104) The Prophet (ﷺ) then said, “The first of the human beings to be dressed on the Day of Resurrection, will be Abraham. Lo! Some men from my followers will be brought and then (the angels) will drive them to the left side (Hell-Fire). I will say. ‘O my Lord! (They are) my companions!’ Then a reply will come (from Almighty), ‘You do not know what they did after you.’ I will say as the pious slave (the Prophet (ﷺ) Jesus) said: And I was a witness over them while I dwelt amongst them. When You caused me to die. You were the Watcher over them and You are a Witness to all things.’ (5.117) Then it will be said, “These people have continued to be apostates since you left them.”(Sahih Bukhari Vol 6, Book 60, Hadith 149)

This further makes it clear that over here the word tawaffi means nothing other then death. Muhammad(saw) has made it clear with this Hadith.

False Narration Attributed to Hasan(ra)

This saying does not have a complete chain and is not from sahih sitta nor can be trusted since it is contradicting over 30 verses of Quran and hundreds of ahadith. This “hadith” is brought up by the ones who cannot reply to the Quranic and ahadith proof for the death of Isa(As) nor to the first ijma of the sahaba. This has no authenticity behind it and is not trust able.

Hasan (RA) narrated: “The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said to the Jews, ‘Jesus has not died, he will return to you before the Doomsday.'” (Al-Tabari H.7133)

This narration is also extremely fabricated as its chain of narration tells us. I will mention some of the narrators of the hadith and what has been said about them.

Abdullah Ibn Abi Jaffir: Weak according to imam Adh Dhahabi (Shams-ud-din Muhammad Ibn Ahmad adh-Dhahabi, AD diwan-du’afa wa al matrukin matba’ah an nahdah al hadistsiyya Mecca pg 213)

Abu Ja’far al Razi : Saduq according to Ibn Hajr Asqalani (ra) ( Al Hafiz Ibn Hajr Al Asqalani 1421 pg 770)

Another person mentioned is Ar Rabi Ibn Anas and about him it is said:

Al Ijli- Not strong

Abu Hatim Al Razi- not strong

Abu Jafar is also called not strong by Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, An Nasai, Amr ibn Ali, Al saji and many many more.

Heres a saying attributed to Imam Hasan(ra) apart from all I showed which Muhammad(Saw) has said which prove the death of Isa(As). This is in accordance to the Qur’an unlike the once mentioned above.

Hazrat Imam Hasan after the martyrdom Hazrat Ali said:

“O people! This night there has died a man whose status cannot be reached by the earlier or later generations. The Messenger of Allah used to send him to battle, so on his right would be Gabriel and on his left Michael (Mikal), and he would not return without victory. And he has left but seven hundred Dirhems with which he intended to buy a slave. He died on the night on which the soul of Jesus, son of Mary, was taken up, that is the twenty-seventh of Ramadaan.”
(Tabaqat Kabir, vol. iii, p. 26)

(his soul, not his body, which was taken up to heaven, and that he died on the 27th of Ramadhan)

Breath of The Messiah Will Kill The Disbelievers?

its quite sad that some Muslims take this prophecy of Muhammad(Saw) to be literal. Firstly, they need to understand that a lot of the prophecies in regards to the Messiah(as) are full of metaphorical language. Secondly, they are comprised of visions and we know from the Qur’an and Ahadith that visions are not taken literally. Here are some examples from the Qur’an and the Ahadith of the Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw):

Allah states:

Remember the time when Joseph said to his father, ‘O my father, I saw in a dream eleven stars and the sun and the moon, I saw them making obeisance to me.’ He said, ‘O my darling son, relate not thy dream to thy brothers, lest they contrive a plot against thee; for Satan is to man an open enemy. (Chapter 12 verse 5-7)

Now will these anti Ahmadi also blame Joseph (As) for this vision? The stars and sun do not prostrate to humans rather to Allah alone. He narrated this dream to his father and he even had no objection to this vision. So were they lying? Did Joseph(as) lie to us God forbid? Will the anti Ahmadis raise this Allegation on Joseph(as) also?

In the same Surah, Allah states:

And with him there entered the prison two young men. One of them said, ‘I saw myself in a dream pressing wine.’ And the other said, ‘I saw myself in a dream carrying upon my head bread of which the birds are eating. Inform us of the interpretation thereof; for we see thee to be of the righteous.’(Chapter 12 verse 37)

These two people ask for the interpretation of the dream. They were in jail how can their dreams be physical? Yusuf(As) did not reply by saying no you are lying where is the bread or wine rather he interpreted the dreams by saying you will be saved and the bird one would be hanged. Even after he would be hanged the birds would not eat from his head. Allah explains this interpretation in the Quran and shows us don’t take these things physical.

In the same Surah in Verses 44-45 Allah states:

And the King said, ‘I see in a dream seven fat kine which seven lean ones eat up, and seven green ears of corn and seven others withered. O ye chiefs, explain to me the meaning of my dream if you can interpret a dream.’ They replied, ‘They are confused dreams, and we do not know the interpretation of such confused dreams.’ (Chapter 12 Verses 44-45)

The king also saw a vision where seven fat cows were being eaten by seven lean and seven green spikes of grain. Cows are not eaten by plants rather eat plants. Now do we say the king lied? Yusuf(As) heard this dream and did not say you lied rather he explained the dream. Allah did not mention the dream and say the king lied rather he explained the dream.

Allah also states:

When Allah showed them to thee in thy dream as few; and if He had shown them to thee as many, you would have surely faltered and would have disagreed with one another about the matter; but Allah saved you. Surely, He has full knowledge of what is in your breasts.(Chapter 8 Verse 44)

Allah showed the greatest prophet that these people were few in number. Now God forbid the ones who accused the vision of Ahmad(As) will they also accuse this? Allah has told us this dream in Qur’an that the things Allah shows in visions are not necessarily physical.

Another Hadith of Bukhari states:

Narrated Ubaidullah bin `Abdullah bin `Utba:

We were informed that Musailima Al-Kadhdhab had arrived in Medina and stayed in the house of the daughter of Al-Harith. The daughter of Al-Harith bin Kuraiz was his wife and she was the mother of `Abdullah bin ‘Amir. There came to him Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) accompanied by Thabit bin Qais bin Shammas who was called the orator of Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ). Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) had a stick in his hand then. The Prophet (ﷺ) stopped before Musailima and spoke to him. Musailima said to him, “If you wish, we would not interfere between you and the rule, on condition that the rule will be ours after you… The Prophet said, “If you asked me for this stick, I would not give it to you. I think you are the same person who was shown to me in a dream. And this is Thabit bin Al-Qais who will answer you on my behalf.” The Prophet (ﷺ) then went away. I asked Ibn `Abbas about the dream Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) had mentioned. Ibn `Abbas said, “Someone told me that the Prophet (ﷺ) said, “When I was sleeping, I saw in a dream that two gold bangles were put in my hands, and that frightened me and made me dislike them. Then I was allowed to blow on them, and when I blew at them, both of them flew. Then I interpreted them as two liars who would appear.’ One of them was Al-`Ansi who was killed by Fairuz in Yemen and the other was Musailima Al-Kadhdbab.”(Sahih Bukhari Vol. 5, Book 59, Hadith #662

Now we know that according to Islam wearing Gold is haram in Islam. Now will anti Ahmadis say that Muhammad(saw) did something haram God forbid? When Muhammad(saw) said this dream not a single sahabi mocked this dream or accused it. Rather Muhammad(saw) explained the vision and he explained the dream and interpreted it.

Now it is quite obvious that the Messiah(as) of the latter days, who would be a prophet of Allah, would not come to have physical breath which would kill disbelievers. His objective is to guide the disbelievers to the truth, rather than to kill them without giving guidance. Islam does not teach to kill anyone because of his faith. I challenge the non Ahmadis to show a single instance where Muhammad(saw) said to kill anyone for his religion when it was not in the time of war and he limited their freedom of practicing their faith.

I will explain this prophecy in the words of my beautiful imam, and lover of Muhammad(Saw) Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as)

“Remember, it was necessary for large number of people to die at the time of the Messiah and it was also destined that plagues and earthquakes should strike. This is the meaning of the Hadith wherein it is written that people would perish with the breath of the Messiah, and his killing breath would work as far as his eyes would see. It is wrong to infer from this hadith that the Messiah would be a witch that would remove people’s hearts just by looking at them. What it really means is that wherever his pure breath–i.e. his teachings–would spread in the world, people would deny him, reject him, and abuse him; so much so, that their rejection shall become a cause of chastisement for them. This hadith indicates that the Promised Messiah(As) will be vehemently opposted, with the result that a great many people shall die in the land, the most severe earthquakes shall take place and peace shall disappear altogether. It would otherwise be irrational to think that pious and righteous people should be subjected to various punishments without any reason. This is the reason why, even in the past, ignorant people have considered prophets (may the Peace and blessings of Allah be upon them) to be bearers of misfortune and have blamed them for what were actually the consequences of their own misdeeds. The fact, however, is that it is not the prophet who brings punishment; rather it is the fact that people have become deserving of punishment that brings a prophet as a final warning and produces the necessity for his advent. Severe punishment never takes place without the advent of a prophet, as God says in the Holy Quran : We do not punish a people until a prophet has been sent to them (Chapter 17 verse 16) Why then is it that the epidemic of the plague is devouring the country on the one hand, and terrifying earthquakes are giving no respite on the other? O heedless ones, look around! May be a prophet has been established by God and it is him who you have rejected. It is already the twenty fourth year of the Hijri Century. Why, without the advent of a prophet, are you being afflicted with this calamity which takes away your friends and loved ones each year and brings sorrow to your hearts? There must be a reason, why do you not look for it? And why do you not reflect upon the verse which I have Quoted above, in which God Almighty says:We do not punish a people until a prophet has been sent to them. That is we never send an extraordinary punishment upon a people until we have sent a messenger to fully convey our message” (Divine Manifestations, page 9-11)

“It has been destined from the very beginning that the Promised Messiah would first appear in an awe-striking form, and, as far as his eyes would see, people would perish with his breath. This means that that will not be the time for jihad of fighting with the sword, it will be the spiritual attention of the Messiah which will work like a sword, and awe-inspiring signs like plagues, earthquakes ad other calamities shall descend from heaven. Then God’s Messiah shall look upon mankind with compassion, and the heavens too shall show signs of compassion, and people shall be blessed with long lives and abundant provisions shall come out of the earth” (Divine Manifestations, footnote of page 8)

Two Yellow Sheets?

Now another important fact to note is that the latter day messiah coming with two sicknesses was actually prophesied by the Prophet Muhammad(saw) himself. He(saw) states:

Narrated Abu Hurayrah:

The Prophet (saw) said: There is no prophet between me and him, that is, Jesus (ﷺ). He will descent (to the earth). When you see him, recognise him: a man of medium height, reddish fair, wearing two light yellow garments, looking as if drops were falling down from his head though it will not be wet. He will fight the people for the cause of Islam. He will break the cross, kill swine, and abolish jizyah. Allah will perish all religions except Islam. He will destroy the Antichrist and will live on the earth for forty years and then he will die. The Muslims will pray over him. (Sunan Abi Dawud #4324)

Also in Sahih Muslim it is stated:

اللَّهُ الْمَسِيحَ ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ فَيَنْزِلُ عِنْدَ الْمَنَارَةِ الْبَيْضَاءِ شَرْقِيَّ دِمَشْقَ بَيْنَ مَهْرُودَتَيْنِ وَاضِعًا كَفَّيْهِ عَلَى أَجْنِحَةِ مَلَكَيْنِ

Allah would send Christ, son of Mary, and he will descend at the white minaret in the eastern side of Damscus wearing two garments lightly dyed with saffron and placing his hands on the wings of two Angels. (Sahih Muslim #2937)

Now firstly this Hadith and the signs will be explained later on but what we need to focus is him wearing to yellow garments. Muhammad(saw) made it clear that one should not wear yellow and also made it clear that visions are not taken literally. Here are Ahadith telling us not to wear yellow.

The ahadith are as follows:

‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr narrated that:

The Messenger of Allah [SAW] saw him wearing two garments dyed with safflower and he said: “This is the clothing of disbelievers; do not wear it.”(Sunan an Nasai, #5316)

Another Hadith of Sahih Muslim states:

‘Ali b. Abu Talib reported that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) forbade wearing of silk and yellow clothes, and the gold ring, and the reciting of the Qur’an in the ruku’ (state of kneeling in prayer).(Sahih Muslim #2078 a)

Another Hadith forbidding wearing yellow clothing is:

‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr bin Al-‘As (May Allah be pleased with them) said:

وعن عبد الله بن عمرو بن العاص رضي الله عنه قال‏:‏ رأى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم علي ثوبين معصفرين فقال‏:‏ ‏”‏أمك أمرتك بهذا‏؟‏‏”‏ قلت‏:‏ أغسلهما‏؟‏ قال‏:‏ ‏”‏بل احرقهما‏”‏‏.‏

The Prophet (ﷺ) saw me dressed in two saffron-coloured garments and asked, “Has your mother commanded you to wear these?” I asked him, “Shall I wash them out?” He replied, “You had better set them to fire”

Another narration is: “These are garments of the disbelievers. So do not wear them.”

(Riyad as Salihin Narrated by Muslim Book 18 Hadith #289 and Book 18 Hadith #1799,Sahih Muslim book 19 hadith 289)

Therefore, if Jesus(as) is going to come wearing yellow robes, it would contradict with two other hadith of the Prophet where he said Muslims should not wear yellow robes. Unless you claim the messiah to come would be a non Muslim? It shows that he will not physically be wearing two yellow robes rather it is signifying something else. It is clear that no Muslim Messiah should ever wear such a dress.

Lets see what the dream interpretations have to say:

Tabir al Ruyah is written by Hazrat Muhamed Bin of Egypt. It is a famous Interpretation of Dreams book, and states that yellow clothes signify sickness.

Yellow — (Color) Wearing a yellow silken garment in a dream means a sickness. If a warrior sees himself wearing a yellow silken garment in a dream, it means that he will be decorated for his chivalry. Yellow in a dream also represents strains (Islamic dream Interpretation Official Website)

This proves the Messiah will have two illnesses. One on the top part of his body, and one on the bottom part. And Ahmad(as) had both. Dreams are never taken physically and always have hidden meanings in them

“Once, on account of mental fatigue and headache, I became so weak that I was afraid I would not be able to go on writing anymore. Such was my weakness that I felt no life in my body. In this condition, I received the revelation: “The capacities of youth are restored to you” Within a few days I began to feel that my lost powers were being restored, and I soon became so strong that I am now able to write at least two chapters of a new book everyday with my own hand, and am able to do the reflection and thinking that are necessary for such creative writing. Of course I suffer from two ailments, one relating to the upper part of my body, and the other to the lower one. In the upper part I suffer from headache, and in the lower I suffer from frequent urge to pass water. I have suffered from these ailments ever since I published my claim that I had been appointed by God. I supplicated for relief from these ailments, but the answer was always no. I was also made to feel that it had been decreed from the beginning that the Promised messiah(As) would descend clad in two yellow sheets, with his hands resting on the shoulders of two angels. These (two illnesses) are indeed the same two yellow sheets which represent my physical condition.( [Haqiqat-ul-Wahi, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 22, pp. 319-320)

Mahdi Lineage of the Prophet(saw)

This actually one of the objections which non Ahmadi’s say about the Promised Messiah(As) that if he is the imam mahdi was he not suppose to be from the family of the Prophet(saw)? The first answer to this is that the people posing this question to you do not know about the family background of the Messiah(as) and they also failed to understand the hadith.

Firstly according to Quran and hadith, other then being from the physical family of the Prophet(saw) , being his true follower and believer can also include you in his family.

Allah states:

‘My Lord, they have indeed led astray many among mankind. So whoever follows me, he is certainly of me; and whoever disobeys me — Thou art, surely, Most Forgiving, Merciful.(Chapter 14 verse 37)

The Holy Prophet(saw) also in hadith has said about the imam mahdi, that he will be from me. But one has to remember that being of Holy Prophet(Saw)’s family is not limited to only being his literal and physical family.

The proof of this is from the Quran itself, that Allah does not care about the blood rather Allah only cares about the taqwa of the believer.

O mankind, We have created you from a male and a female; and We have made you into tribes and sub-tribes that you may recognize one another. Verily, the most honourable among you, in the sight of Allah, is he who is the most righteous among you. Surely, Allah is All-knowing, All-Aware.(Chapter 49 verse 14)

Hazrat Nuh(as) son was of his family but not of his real family because he was not a believer. Allah revealed to Nuh (As) in Chapter 11 verse 47 that :

He said, “O Noah, indeed he is not of your family; indeed, he is [one whose] work was other than righteous, so ask Me not for that about which you have no knowledge. Indeed, I advise you, lest you be among the ignorant.”(Chapter 11 verse 47)

So now a physical literal son of Noah(as) is being told by Allah to not be of his sons because of his behavior. Now here is what is interesting. The Holy Prophet(Saw) said about Hazrat Salman Farsi(ra) that: Salman(ra) is from the people of my family.

This is further supported by chapter 33 verse 7 where Allah states:

The Prophet is closer to the believers than their selves, and his wives are as their mothers. And the owners of kinship are closer one to another in the ordinance of Allah than (other) believers and the fugitives (who fled from Mecca), except that ye should do kindness to your friends. This is written in the Book (of nature). (Chapter 33 verse 7)

Now we know that Muhammad(saw) has said that Salman Farsi(ra) is of his spiritual family, and this is further supported with the case of the messiah(As) because of this beautiful incident :

Narrated Abu Huraira:

While we were sitting with the Prophet (ﷺ) Surat Al-Jumu’a was revealed to him, and when the Verse, “And He (Allah) has sent him (Muhammad) also to other (Muslims)…..’ (62.3) was recited by the Prophet, I said, “Who are they, O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)?” The Prophet (ﷺ) did not reply till I repeated my question thrice. At that time, Salman Al-Farisi was with us. So Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) put his hand on Salman, saying, “If Faith were at (the place of) Ath-Thuraiya (pleiades, the highest star), even then a man from these people (i.e. Salman’s folk) would attain it.” (Bukhari, Volume 6, Book 60, Hadith #4897)

Muhammad(saw) tells us that the messiah would be from the spiritual lineage of Salman farsi(ra) meaning of persian lineage since it was a room full of arab companions and he was the only farsi sitting there. It is also a clear fact that during the battle of the ditch The Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw) made Salman Farsi(ra) stand with his family which further proves the point of a spiritual family which the mahdi would be from.

Here are two further quotes of the Messiah(as)

“Although I am not from the descendants from Alevis (descendants of Hazrat Ali(ra) from other than Fatima(as)) I am from the lineage of Bani Fatima(as). Some of my paternal grandmothers were from among well known saadaat(female members of the family of Prophet Muhammad(saw). It was a practice among our family that at times women from saadat would be wed into our family and ours into theirs” (Ruhani Khazain Volume 18 page 426 footnote Nazul Ul Masih)

Again Ahmad(as) states in A Misconception Removed on page 15:

“People who think in physical terms, sometimes link the Promised One to the progeny of Hasan(ra), sometimes to Hussain(ra) and sometimes to Abbas(ra). But what the Holy Prophet(saw) really meant was that the promised One would be his heir, kust likea son, i.e he would inherit his name, his character, his knowledge, his spirituality, and would reflect his very image. He will acquire nothing on his own but will acquire everything from the Holy prophet(saw) and will so lose himself in him (sa) as to reflect his(sa) very Image” (A misconception removed Pg 15)
