Welcome to Ahmadi Answers

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is the only Islamic organization to believe that the long-awaited Messiah has come in the person of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) (1835-1908) of Qadian. Ahmad(as) claimed to be the metaphorical second coming of Jesus(as) of Nazareth and the divine guide, whose advent was foretold by the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad(saw). We believe that according to the Qur’an and the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad(saw) it is clear that the latter day messiah would be an imam from amongst the Muslims. Ahmadiyya Muslim Community believes that God sent Ahmad(as), like Jesus(as), to end religious wars, condemn bloodshed and re-institute morality, justice and peace. Ahmad(as)’s advent has brought about an unprecedented era of Islamic revival. He divested Islam of fanatical beliefs and practices by vigorously championing Islam’s true and essential teachings.

Condition of Maryam(as)

This is another baseless allegation from people who do not have knowledge on the Holy Qur’an. Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) has stated:

In the third part of Braheen e Ahmadiyya, God had named me Mary and as apparent from it, I was nurtured in the qualities of Mary for two years. When a period of two years lapsed then, as stated on page 496 of the 4th volume of Braheen e Ahmadiyya, the soul of Jesus was infused in me as it was infused in Mary and, in an allegoric sense, I was stated to be pregnant. Thereafter, after many months not exceeding a period of ten months after this revelation, I was, through a revelation recorded at the end of Braheen e Ahmadiyya on page 556, named Jesus and hence I came to be the son of Mary.(Kashti Nuh Ruhani Khazain Vol 19 page 50)

Firstly its important to make it clear that this was not physical rather metaphorical as Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) has himself said. This is all spiritual and the pregnancy is spiritual as well. This claim is made from the Qur’an. Allah states in the Qur’an:

And remember her who preserved her chastity; so We breathed into her of Our word and We made her and her son a Sign for peoples.(Chapter 21 verse 92)

Allah here has used the words فَنَفَخْنَا فِيهَا to referring to a woman. The Arabic used here is the condition of the believers through the women. Now let us focus on the Arabic of the next ayahs:

And Allah sets forth for those who believe the example of the wife of Pharaoh when she said, ‘My Lord! build for me a house with Thee in the Garden; and deliver me from Pharaoh and his work, and deliver me from the wrongdoing people;’ And the example of Mary, the daughter of ‘Imran, who guarded her private parts — so We breathed into him of Our Spirit — and she fulfilled in her person the words of her Lord and His Books and was one of the obedient. (Chapter 66 verse 12-13)

Referring to a this verse the Arabic Allah uses is فَنَفَخْنَا فِيهِ which is in regards to males. There is a clear distinction.

The condition of the believers are like either Pharaoh’s wife, or Hazrat Maryam(as) the daughter of Imran, who guarded her private parts so Allah breathed his spirit. Now its clear that Allah states that the believers should be like these two women so its obvious that either a believer will be like Pharaohs wife or Maryam(as). Ahmad(As) says my condition was like Maryam(as)’s. According to this ayah Allah says a believer cannot even be a believer unless he follows the example of one of these women. Ahmad(As) says that the condition which I went through was like Maryam(as)’s.This is a condition of a believer according to Quran. When a believer follows Allah and all of his commands, then Allah says He blows a spirit into the believer.

And they ask thee concerning the soul. Say, ‘The soul is by the command of my Lord; and of the knowledge thereof you have been given but a little.’(Chapter 17 verse 86)

The way a prophet is made is by the knowledge of Allah. When Allah blew his spirit, then the latter day messiah after going through this condition was ibn maryam also and in the way of the Quran, as Allah says the believer should be like one of the women. This shows that the one who was to come from Allah and was in the condition of Maryam(As) as the Quran tells us to be, then later Allah made him Isa Ibn Maryam which shows how high his spirituality was. I suggest you to read these pages of the Ark Of Noah by Ahmad(As). It will truly shock you. Ahmad(As) explains this in detail beautiful.

Has anyone else claimed this type of spiritual station?

One has to remember Ahmad(As) said this in a metaphorical sense. Let me quote some really famous people throughout the history of Islam.

Hadhrat Shahab ud Din Suharwardi(ra) has stated:
‘The disciple becomes a part of the master, just as a child is a part of its father in its physical birth. Thus, is the disciple born from its master in its spiritual birth.'(Sirhind, [Hadhrat] Ahmad. Maktubat)

Hadhrat Jalal ud Din Rumi(ra) has stated:

‘God confines free spirits into bodies and makes each body pregnant by the spirit. Each of us is a Messiah for the world.'(Rumi, [Hadhrat] Jalal ud Din Rumi. Miftah al Ulum, Daftar No. i, Pt. i, p. 55)

He again states :

‘The Whole forms a relation with the part and from this, just as a woman receives a sperm from man, the sense of man receives a pearl. The soul of the man then becomes pregnant as did Mary and from this pregnancy is born a Messiah. This Messiah is not the Messiah who lived in the past, but is a Messiah whose glory is not easy to comprehend. When the spirit of God makes pregnant the spirit of man, that spirit then makes the world pregnant. This produces a spiritual revolution and resurrection in the world which is so grand as to defy description(Ibid., Miftah al Ulum vol. 1, p. 11)

Hadhrat Khawaja Mu’in ud Din Chishti(ra) stated:
‘If the Holy Spirit continues to give succour, everyday in the world the Mary of the time would give birth to Jesus.(Chishti, [Hadhrat] Muin ud Din. Diwan Khawaja Ajmeri, Ode No. 70, p. 102)

Many more saints have also said such things and if you receive the same, it only shows your truthfulness as it does the truthfulness of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as).
