Welcome to Ahmadi Answers

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is the only Islamic organization to believe that the long-awaited Messiah has come in the person of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) (1835-1908) of Qadian. Ahmad(as) claimed to be the metaphorical second coming of Jesus(as) of Nazareth and the divine guide, whose advent was foretold by the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad(saw). We believe that according to the Qur’an and the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad(saw) it is clear that the latter day messiah would be an imam from amongst the Muslims. Ahmadiyya Muslim Community believes that God sent Ahmad(as), like Jesus(as), to end religious wars, condemn bloodshed and re-institute morality, justice and peace. Ahmad(as)’s advent has brought about an unprecedented era of Islamic revival. He divested Islam of fanatical beliefs and practices by vigorously championing Islam’s true and essential teachings.

Difference in Nabi and Rasul?

Some non Ahmadis say prophets do not bring shariahs or laws, while messengers do. This ideology is totally baseless. Holy Prophet(saw) never said this. The truth is Quran and hadith show that these two words are directly related. Both words are used for Holy Prophet(saw) and for Hadhrat Isa(as). And In surah Al Maryam in the same surah Moses(As) is called rasool and Nabi who we know brought a shariah, same surah three verses after Hadhrat Ismail(as) is called a rasool and Nabi when we we all know he did not bring a shariah.

They made this misunderstanding that its two different types of people sent by Allah. Allah sends the message to the rasul and than he spreads it to people. The rasul is the one who receives the message from Allah and when he spreads it, he is indeed a nabi. The purpose of a nabi is to spread the message that Allah sent him as a rasul. Never would Allah choose a rasul who would be too scared to spread the message, therefore all messengers are indeed prophets.

A prophet who is sent the message is a rasul. When he spreads the message that Allah revealed to him and tells people this message he is a nabi. When One person but two words for the same person. No difference at all.

The word nabi, comes from the world nabah. The Nabi spreads this message from Allah to the people of where he is sent. Every prophet gets the message of Allah as a rasul and he spreads it which makes him a nabi. Its basically us and breathing Allah sends us to this world and than we breathe to live, A rasul is sent a message from Allah, spreading this message is his breathing as a nabi he is telling people this message. No prophet was ever sent that did not deliver the message.

Here is Quranic proof that they are the same. We have a law bearing prophet called a Nabi and rasul and also a non law bearing prophet also called a nabi and a rasul.

And relate the story of Moses as mentioned in the Book. He was indeed a chosen one; and he was a Messenger, a Prophet. (Chapter 19 verse 52)

And relate the story of Ishmael as mentioned in the Book. He was indeed strict in keeping his promise. And he was a Messenger, a Prophet.(Chapter 19 verse 55)

The Promised Day

Allah Has Stated in the Qur’an:

By the heaven having mansions of stars, And by the Promised Day, And by the Witness and that about whom witness has been borne,(Chapter 84 Verses 2-4)

These verses have been beautifully explained by Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmood Ahmad (ra). He states in regards to the first ayah, Chapter 84 verse 2:

“The verse purports to say that just as there are twelve mansions of stars in the physical heaven, similarly there will be twelve Divine Reformers or Mujadids or twelve mansions in the spiritual firmament of Islam who will keep its light burning after the sun had set i.e, after the first three best centuries of Islam will have passed resulting in spread of spiritual darkness over the whole world. These reformers will bear witness to the truth of Islam, of the Qur’an and to that of the Holy Prophet(saw)”

In regards to the next ayah he states:

“The Promised Day” here signifies the day when the Promised Messiah will be raised to bring about the renaissance of Islam. There have been many such days in the history of Islam which could be called the “Promised Day” namely the day of the Battle of Badr, the day when the Battle of Dutch came to a glorious end, and the day of the fall of Mecca. But the Promised Day “par excellence was the time of the Second coming of the Holy Prophet in the person of the Promised Messiah in the 14th century A.H when Islam was to receive a new life and to prevail over all religions. The verse may also signify the day when the righteous will enjoy the ecstasy of meeting with their Lord”

In regards to the fourth ayah, the Promised Son(ra) states:

“Every Prophet or Divine Reformer is a bearer of witness because he is a living witness to the existence of God and he is also Mashood (about whom witness is borne) because God bears witness to his truth by showing signs and miracles at his hands and by creating conditions and circumstances which establish the truth of his Message and mission. But here, as the text shows the bearer of Witness is the Promised Messiah and the one about whom witness is borne is the Holy Prophet(saw) and the verse signifies that the Promised Messiah(as) will bear witness to the truth of the Holy Prophet(saw) by his speeches, discourses and writings and by the Signs that God will show at his hands. The Promised Messiah(as) will also bear witness to the truth of the Holy Prophet(saw) in the sense that in his person the prophecy of the Holy Prophet(saw) about the appearance of the Messiah and Mahdi in the 14th century A.H will be fulfilled. The Promised Messiah (as) will also be mashood in the sense that the hadith of the Holy Prophet(saw) will bear witness to his truth. Thus the Holy Prophet(saw) and the Promised Messiah(as) will both be Bearer of witness and about whom witness is borne”

The Promise to Abraham(as)

Allah has stated in the Holy Qur’an:

And remember when his Lord tried Abraham with certain commands which he fulfilled. He said, ‘I will make thee a Leader of men.’ Abraham asked, ‘And from among my offspring?’ He said, ‘My covenant does not embrace the transgressors.’(Chapter 2 Verse 125)

In this verse of the Holy Qur’an Allah has given Abraham(as) glad tidings that he would be made a Leader of the Men. The reason he obtained this blessing was because of his obedience to Allah. Since Abraham(as) was given this reward he believed that this blessing would continue in his offspring but Allah stated that His covenant does not embrace the transgressors. This shows that the transgressors would not receive blessings, but the true believers will indeed have these blessings.

One might try to state that the word Imam is used rather than the word prophet, and therefore it means only Imams will come rather than prophets. This would make no sense as linguistically a the word Imam also refers to prophethood and all prophets were indeed Imams. In the verse of the Qur’an Abraham(as) is praying for the greatest blessings possible, which is indeed Prophethood. Allah has also stated in regards to Abraham(as):

‘And, our Lord, raise up among them a Messenger from among themselves, who may recite to them Thy Signs and teach them the Book and Wisdom and may purify them; surely, Thou art the Mighty, the Wise.’(Chapter 2 Verse 130)

If one tries to state that the word Rasulun is used in the ayah and it refers to Nabi(saw) alone, it should be remembered that we agree that in specific it does refer to the Holy Prophet(saw). It is clear that Abraham(as) also desired the reward of prophethood for his children, and how can we deny this if he prayed for it? He did not only pray for one child to attain this prophethood rather his entire offspring. If a father has sons, would it make sense for him to only pray for one and leave the rest to fall onto the wrong path? Of course not. We know that Abraham(as) was a righteous father who wanted the best for all of his progeny and children. Allah accepted the prayer and stated in the Qur’an:

And We bestowed on him Isaac and Jacob, and We placed the gift of prophethood and the Book among his descendants, and We gave him his reward in this life, and in the Hereafter he will surely be among the righteous.(Chapter 29 Verse 28)

If one was to believe that Prophethood was closed after the Holy Prophet(saw) came it would mean that the Holy Prophet(saw) would not be able to achieve the blessing which was given to Abraham(as) despite being the Seal of all The Prophets. It would also mean that all followers of Holy Prophet(saw) were God forbid transgressors as they were not given this blessing of Allah. Allah has made it Clear that prophethood is a blessing of Allah which He bestows on whomsoever He wishes.

It also amazes me that the non Ahmadi Muslims are not aware of the prayers they often read. We read daily in our prayers this beautiful prophecy of Allah:

Bless, O Allah, Muhammad and the people of Muhammad, as Thou didst bless Abraham and the people of Abraham. Thou art indeed the Praiseworthy, the Glorious. Prosper, O Allah, Muhammad and the people of Muhammad, as Thou didst prosper Abraham and the people of Abraham. Thou art indeed the Praiseworthy, the Glorious.

We have been taught by our Master(saw) to send blessings upon him in the same way blessings were given to Abraham(as). This makes it clear that the Promise which was given to Abraham(as) would continue with the advent of the Holy Prophet(saw) and this is a reward that will never end. If one closes the door of prophethood he is not only taking away a blessing from Abraham(as) but also away from our master Muhammad(saw).

A Reward For The Believers

There is a great difference between the believers and the disbelievers. Allah has clearly Stated in the Qur’an :

Allah would not leave the believers as you are, until He separated the wicked from the good. Nor would Allah reveal to you the unseen. But Allah chooses of His Messengers whom He pleases. Believe, therefore, in Allah and His Messengers. If you believe and be righteous, you shall have a great reward.(Chapter 3 Verse 180)

Allah has made it Clear in this verse that he would make a clear distinction between the Good and the Evil and has stated that He would appoint a messenger who would reveal the unseen to the people. Allah has told us continuously to accept these messengers and if one tries to state that this only refers to past nations, this would make no sense as Allah states “Allah would not leave the believers as you are”. If this is still the interpretation of the Non Ahmadis, it would mean they themselves do not believe they or anyone else in the ummah are believers. What an erroneous interpretation. Furthermore, the Arabic word which is used here is Yajtabi which means He chooses rather than He Chose. It is an imperfect verb (Mudari) which refers to the present and future tense as well. This clearly shows it refers to a blessing which is of the past, present and future and this is a law of Allah as well. Allah decided to choose Ahmad(as) as one of the messengers as this verse shows.

A Prophet Before Punishment

Allah has Outlined in the Qur’an beautifully:

There is not a township but We shall destroy it before the Day of Resurrection, or punish it with a severe punishment. That is written down in the Book.(Chapter 17 Verse 59)

Allah has made it clear that all townships would be destroyed before the day of judgement and States:

He who follows the right way follows it only for the good of his own soul: and he who goes astray, goes astray only to his own loss. And no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another. We never punish until We have sent a Messenger.(Chapter 17 Verse 16)

Allah also States:

And thy Lord would never destroy the towns until He has raised in the mother town thereof a Messenger, reciting unto them Our Signs; nor would We destroy the towns unless the people thereof are wrongdoers.(Chapter 28 Verse 60)

And He States:

And if We had destroyed them with a punishment before it they would have surely said, ‘Our Lord, wherefore didst Thou not send to us a Messenger that we might have followed Thy commandments before we were humbled and disgraced?’(Chapter 20 Verse 135)

Allah has made it clear that all towns will be destroyed and that whenever such punishment occurs a prophet has to come.

A Blessing of Allah

There is a beautiful prayer which Muslims are taught from the beginning of the Qur’an and told to recite daily in every single rak’at when they pray. The beautiful prayer is Surah Fatiha. Allah States:

In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful. All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of all the worlds,The Gracious, the Merciful,Master of the Day of Judgment.Thee alone do we worship and Thee alone do we implore for help.Guide us in the right path —The path of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy blessings, those who have not incurred Thy displeasure, and those who have not gone astray. (Chapter 1 Verses 1-7)

This is the same prayer where it is stated in the Ahadith that:

Narrated ‘Ubada bin As-Samit:

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “Whoever does not recite Al-Fatiha in his prayer, his prayer is invalid.”(Sahih Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 12, Hadith #723)
Spiritual Rewards For The Muslims

And whoso obeys Allah and this Messenger of His shall be among those on whom Allah has bestowed His blessings, namely, the Prophets, the Truthful, the Martyrs, and the Righteous. And excellent companions are these.(Chapter 4 Verse 70)

This verse states four spiritual rewards for the servants of Muhammad(Saw). You can only attain these ranks by following Muhammad(Saw). This shows the greatness of Muhammad(saw).

By believing in his messengers you can only attain these spiritual ranks but by accepting Muhammad(Saw) you can attain so much more. Allah states:

And those who believe in Allah and His Messengers and they are the Truthful and the Witnesses in the sight of their Lord, they will have their reward and their light. But as for those who disbelieve and reject Our Signs, these are the inmates of Hell. (Chapter 57 Verse 20)

Non Ahmadis try to claim that this means along with rather then among them. This makes no sense. They would have some say if the word Ma’a was used alone, but Allah has also used the word Min which means among or from. Because Allah has used Min, Allah has emphasized that people who do Follow Nabi(saw) can attain these four spiritual ranks. This does not mean they would be in the company and if that was the case then the use of both words Ma’a and min would be useless and redundant while Allah is perfect.  Now if we accept the interpretation of the Non Ahmadi’s for this verse it would mean:

Those who obey Allah and His Messenger would be in the company of the Prophets but not Prophets themselves. They would be in the company of the Truthful but not truthful themselves. They would be in the company of the Martyrs but not Martyrs themselves. They would be in the company of the Righteous but not righteous themselves.’

No sincere Muslim can accept this translation. This would mean that no Khalifa attained any of these statuses nor were any of them martyrs, God forbid. If a Non Ahmadi says that prophethood cannot be attained then he has to accept that for all other ranks since the same arabic is used and its all put together for a reason.

Except those who repent and amend and hold fast to Allah and are sincere in their obedience to Allah. These are among the believers. And Allah will soon bestow a great reward upon the believers.(Chapter 4 Verse 147)

Allah here gives four grades or spiritual ranks also now if Non Ahmadi logic is used to interpret this it means we can not attain any of this rather only be among the believers.

Secondly non Ahmadis try saying this will be in the hereafter however this can easily be refuted if attention is given to the Arabic grammar which is used called Jumla Ismiyyah which means it cannot refer to a time period which is only for the future.  Allah states that he is All knowing, wise in chapter 4 verse 27 which is the same grammar of Arabic:

Allah desires to make clear to you, and guide you to, the paths of those before you, and to turn to you in mercy. And Allah is All- Knowing, Wise.(Chapter 4 Verse 27)

Now it would be incorrect to say Allah is not all knowing and wise and will be only in the future God forbid.

Chapter 48 verse 29 states Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah same grammar is used. This does not mean Nabi(saw) will be a messenger in the future and wasn’t one in his advent nauzobilla:

Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. And those who are with him are hard against the disbelievers, tender among themselves. Thou seest them bowing and prostrating themselves in Prayer, seeking grace from Allah and His pleasure. Their mark is upon their faces, being the traces of prostrations. This is their description in the Torah. And their description in the Gospel is like unto a seed-produce that sends forth its sprout, then makes it strong; it then becomes thick, and stands firm on its stem, delighting the sowers — that He may cause the disbelievers to burn with rage at the sight of them. Allah has promised, unto those of them who believe and do good works, forgiveness and a great reward.(Chapter 48 Verse 30)

The non Ahmadi interpretation makes a mockery of the Quran.

If this verse was for the hereafter Allah would have simply stated: And whoso obeys Allah and this Messenger of His, in the future,he shall be in the company of those upon whom Allah has bestowed His blessings, namely, the Prophets, the Truthful, the Martyrs and the Righteous. And excellent companions are these.’

The non Ahmadis also state that the Muslims can receive all of these blessings but not of prophethood. This would not make sense as Allah has put them all in the same category which shows either all ranks are attainable or all are not. Allah has stated:

You are the best people raised for the good of mankind; you enjoin what is good and forbid evil and believe in Allah. And if the People of the Book had believed, it would have surely been better for them. Some of them are believers, but most of them are disobedient.(Chapter 3 Verse 111)

How can the ummah who Allah has called the best of mankind, not be able to attain any of these blessings? The past ummahs had people of all of these ranks and they were blessed with prophets. If we cannot become one rank from the above verse, then it means we cannot be any of the following ranks which means this ummah would only have horrible people. Either all ranks are open or none are, as the Arabic is the same for all ranks. Either the door is open for all ranks or it is closed.

Another important point to notice is that this verse does not include the word paradise or the day of judgement, and one cannot claim it refers to those without a solid argument. Many Muslims have not been able to see the Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw) and all Muslims have a wish to see the Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw). If this was about the day of judgement, it would say whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger, they would be with the Holy Prophet Muhammad(Saw) on the day of judgement. If this ayah was about Paradise, and Allah has told us that we would be with the Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw), the other ranks do not matter and do not need to be there. When the most largest rank or reward is mentioned, then the smaller rewards do not need to be mentioned as this is against common sense and fasahato bilagat.

If we are introducing someone, and we state that he has passed his M.A degree, we would not need to introduce his qualities which are less important, like passing high school. If this ayah referred to meeting prophets in the hereafter, then the other ranks would be there for no reason.

As Ahmadi Muslims we do not deny that ma’a can mean among too but there is a reason that in this verse it cannot mean among referring to the hereafter for many reasons.Firstly its a great insult to the Nabi(Saw) to believe no Muslim can attain any of these ranks, secondly its an insult to Nabi(saw) himself that no one can be a prophet from following him but many prophets came under Moses(as) and other prophets and thirdly min is used with ma’a for a reason. Fourthly it is under jumlah Ismiyyah which means present tense which shows all these ranks are open.

It is important to explain the word ma’a when it comes to this verse in depth. Ahmadi Muslims and Non Ahmadi Muslims differ on this ayah. We state that it means being “among” or “from within” the groups with are mentioned. The context of this ayah itself shows us that the word ma’a would have to mean among here. The non Ahmadis try to state that it means in the company of, but not among them. Imam Raghib has the most famous dictionary written in regards to the Qur’an and he states:

(مع) یقتضی الاجتماع امّا فی المكان: نحو: ھما معاً فی الدار، او
فی الزمان ۔ نحو: وُلِد معاً، او فی المعنَی كالمتضایفین نحو: الاخ
والاب، فان احدھما صار اخاً للآخَرِ فی حالِ ما صارَ الاخرُ اخاہُ؛
و امّا فی الشّرف الرُّتْبَةِ ۔ نحو: ھما معاً فی العُلُوِّ

“The word Ma‘a requires the mutual gathering of something. [This can be in four ways]: (i) the gathering of two people at a single place, i.e., they were together in a single house; (ii) or in the same era, i.e., he was born in the same era as someone else; (iii) or in a mutual relationship, i.e., a brother or a father, for verily, one of the two is a brother to the other in a state when the other is also his brother [and in this manner they are both gathered in a single state (i.e., a state of brotherhood)], iv) or in honour and rank, i.e., they were both equivalent in greatness.”

All means are correct, but it always depends on the context of the ayah and what the ayah is saying for the word ma’a to be understood. There are many verses of the Holy Qur’an which show that ma’a is used as a synonym for min(among_ or fi(in or among). For example Allah has stated:

“Our Lord, we have heard a Crier calling us unto faith, ‘Believe ye in your Lord,’ and we have believed. Our Lord, forgive us, therefore, our errors and remove from us our evils, and in death number us with the righteous.(Chapter 3 Verse 194)

In this prayer we use the same word of ma’a. It is clear that Allah is telling us that O Allah when we die, grant us a spiritual station amongst those people who were righteous rather then make us die in the company of the righteous. Allah also states:

O ye who believe! fear Allah as He should be feared; and let not death overtake you except when you are in a state of submission.(Chapter 3 Verse 103)

We are asking Allah that He grants us a death of when we are in a state of submission and on the right path. Imam Raghib has beautifully explained this word in his famous dictionary of the Qur’an named Mufridatul-Qur’an stating:

“The verse Faktubna ma‘ash-shahidin means, O Allah! make us from among their ranks [i.e., of those who bear witness].This verse alludes to the words of Allah (in another verse of the Holy Qur’an): Fa’ula’ika ma‘alladhina an‘amallahu ‘alaihim…”

Imam Raghib has clearly showed us that in this verse, we are asking Allah to make us from among the ranks of those who bear witness.

In Surah Fatiha every single prayer, we ask Allah:

Guide us in the right path —The path of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thyblessings, those who have not incurred Thy displeasure, and those who have not gone astray(Chapter 1 Verses 6-7)

We are asking for the blessings of Allah which are mentioned in Chapter 4 Verse 70 every single day. How can it be stated that prophethood is closed if we ask for this blessing everyday? Indeed prophethood is open for this ummah as it is the greatest ummah, but only to a true lover of Muhammad(saw) as Ahmad(as) was.

The Heavenly Sign

One sign in regards to the Mahdi which was prophesied by the Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw) was two heavenly eclipses. The Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw) stated:

For our Mahdi (Spiritual Reformer) there are two Signs which have never occurred before since the creation of the heavens and the earth, namely, the moon will be eclipsed on the first night in Ramadhan (i.e., on the first of the nights on which a lunar eclipse can occur) and the Sun will be eclipsed on the middle day of Ramadhan (i.e., on the middle day on which a solar eclipse can occur) and these Signs have not happened since the creation of the heavens and the earth (Dar Qutni Vol.1, p.188)

First point to keep in mind is that Lunar eclipses only occur on the 13th, 14th, and 15th while the solar eclipses only occur on the 27th, 28th and 29th. This tells us that according to this prophecy the eclipses for the truthful mahdi would occur on the 13th of Ramadhan while the Solar eclipse would be on the 28th of Ramadhan.

It is clear that eclipses only happen on the dates even according to the Non Ahmadi Muslims. Here is a fatwa from the Non Ahmadis:

“Thus Allah decreed that the sun is eclipsed only in dark nights, and the moon is eclipsed only in moonlight nights. These are the nights when the moon is full and during which days the keeping of optional fasts is preferable. These nights are the thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth. Hence, the moon is eclipsed only on these nights”(Fatawa Sheikh Ul Islam Taqi Ud Din, Chapter Khasuf Ul Qamar, Volume 1)

The Promised Messiah, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) of Qadian claimed that he is indeed the Imam Mahdi so it is obvious that if he was indeed the true mahdi than these signs would occur for him. These heavenly signs did indeed occur. The lunar eclipse occurred on March 21st 1894, which is the 13th of Ramadhan 1311 Hijri while the solar eclipse occured on Friday April 6, 1894 which is the 28th of Ramadhan. Ahmad(as) wrote the book Nur Ul Haq in which he included these heavenly signs. Sadly just like all other signs of prophets there also had allegations against them which will now be answered.

The first allegation that the non Ahmadi’s raise against this hadith is that it is not authentic. Firstly during the time of the Messiah(as) this is the main sign the people were seeking but as soon as it was fulfilled they started to mock the authenticity of this hadith. The Qur’an also prophesied in regards to the Eclipses. Allah states:

He asks: When will be the day of Resurrection? When the eye is dazzled, And the moon is eclipsed, And the sun and the moon are brought together, On that day man will say, whither to escape? (Chapter 75 Verses 7-11)

These ayahs make it clear that the eclipses are a sign of the resurrection and are also referring to the eclipses for the Mahdi. When a prophecy is fulfilled and it is attributed to the Prophet Muhammad(saw) the authenticity itself does not matter to us one bit as it proves the truthfulness of our master Muhammad(saw).

The compiler of the hadith however was an extremely respected saint and widely trusted. They also ask whether this is narrated by Imam Baqir. Allama Shaikh Shahabuddin Ibn Hajar Al Hashimi stated: Muhammad Bin Ali, an elite among the Ahle-Bait, narrates that there will be two signs for Imam Mahdi which have never been shown to mankind since the creation of the heavens and the earth. One of these is the eclipse of the moon on the first of its nights in the month of Ramadhan, and the eclipse of the sun on the middle of the days. (Kitabul Fataw Al Hadeesiyya, p.31, Egypt)

The sign of these eclipses are not only mentioned by the sunnis rather the Shias as well. Many are still waiting for this sign sadly and I have personally met many who ask if Ahmad(as) had the eclipses from Allah for his claim.

Ahmad(as) has said in regards to an allegation that eclipses have happened before that:

We are not concerned with how often solar and lunar eclipses have occurred in the month of Ramadhan from the beginning of the world till today. Our aim is only to mention that from the time man has appeared in this world, solar and lunar eclipses have occurred as Signs only in my age for me. Prior to me, no one had this circumstance that on the one hand he claimed to be Mahdi Mauood (Promised Reformer) and on the other, in the month of Ramadhan, on the appointed dates, lunar and solar eclipses occurred and he declared the eclipses as signs in his favor. The Hadees of Darqutani does not say at all that solar and lunar eclipses did not occur ever before, but it does clearly say that such eclipses never occurred earlier as Signs, because the word ‘Takoona’ is used which denotes feminine gender; this implies that such a Sign was never manifested before. If it was meant that such eclipses never occurred before, ‘Yakoona’ which denotes masculine gender was needed and not ‘Takoona’ which denotes feminine gender. It is clear from this that the reference is to the two signs because signs are feminine gender. Hence if anybody thinks that lunar and solar eclipses have occurred many times before, it is his responsibility to show the claimant to Mahdi who declared the solar and lunar eclipses as his signs and this proof should be certain and conclusive and this can only happen if a book of the claimant is produced who claimed to be Mahdi Mauood and had written that the lunar and solar eclipses which occurred in Ramadhan on the dates specified in Darqutani are the Signs of his truth. In short, we are not concerned with the mere occurrence of solar and lunar eclipses even if they had occured thousands of times. As a sign this has happened at the time of a claimant only once and the Hadees has proved its authenticity and truth through its fulfillment at the time of the claimant to Mahdi. (Chashma-e-Marifat, Roohani Khazain, Vol.23, pp. 329 – 330)

After the eclipses Ahmad(as) stated:

O servants of God, ponder and think. Do you consider it permissible that the Mahdi should be born in the countries of Arabia and Syria and his Sign should be manifested in our country; and you know that the wisdom of God does not separate the sign from the person for whom the sign is meant. Then how could it be possible that the Mahdi should be in the East but his sign should be in the West. And this should be sufficient for you if you are really seekers after truth. (Noorul Haq, Part-II)

There is not a single claimant who had these signs fulfilled for them.

Ahmad(as) further states:

n my age only, in the month of Ramadhan, eclipses of the sun and the moon occurred; in my age only, in accordance with the authentic sayings of the Holy Prophet saw and the Holy Quran and earlier Books, there was the plague all over the country, and in my age only, a new mode of transport, namely railways came into existence and in my age only, as per prophecies, terrible earthquakes came. Does not then righteousness demand that one should not be bold in denying me. Look! I swear by Almighty God and say that thousands of signs for establishing my truth have been manifested, are being manifested and will be manifested. If this were a man’s plan, never would he have enjoyed such support and help. (Haqiqatul Wahi, p.45,. Roohani Khazain), Vol. 22. p.48

And:

And I also swear by Almighty God that I am the Promised Messiah and I am the same person who was promised by the prophets. There is news about me and my age in the Torah and the Gospel and the Holy Quran. It is stated that there will be eclipses in the sky and severe plague on the earth. (Dafiul Balaa, p.18, Roohani Khazain, Vol.18, p.238).

He further states:

I swear by God in Whose Hand is my life that He has manifested this Sign in the sky to testify my truthfulness, and He manifested it at a time when the Maulvis (theologians) named me Dajjal (Anti-Christ), the biggest liar, infidel and even the biggest infidel. This is the same Sign regarding which twenty years ago I was promised in Braheen-e-Ahmadiyya, namely, Tell them I have with me testimony from Allah, will you believe it or not? Tell them I have with me testimony from Allah, will you accept it or not? It should be remembered that although there are many proofs from Almighty God for vindicating my truthfulness and more than a hundred prophecies that have been fulfilled to which hundreds of thousands of people are witnesses, but in this revelation, this prophecy has been mentioned specifically, i.e. I have been given such a Sign which was not given to anybody else from the time of Adam to the present time. In short, I can stand in the sacred precincts of the Ka’aba and swear that this Sign is to testifying to my truth. (Tohfa-e-Golarviyya; Roohani Khazain, Vol.17, p.143)

He (as) also stated:

“If anyone from among the great Muhaddithin have declared this Hadith to be Mawdhu then present an action or statement of any Muhaddith who has written that this Hadith is Mawdhu‘. If then you are able to prove this Hadith to be Mawdhu‘ from any book of an illustrious Muhaddith then we shall immediately present to such a person a reward of 100 Rupees.” (Tuhfah Golarviyyah, Ruhani Khazainn of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, Volume 17, pp. 133-134)

Now some quote a saying of Ahmad(as) out of context to claim that he said all ahadith of the mahdi are incorrect. This is false. In reality The Promised Messiah(as) said:

Regarding Mahdi and Promised Messiah, it is my belief and the belief of my Jamaat that all Hadiths of this kind in which the coming of the Mahdi is foretold are not verifiable and cannot be relied upon.

Ahmad(as) here is referring to the statements which claim things like the Mahdi killing all of the Christians.Another statement of Ahmad(as):

That Hadith is quite correct and is recorded not only in Dar Qutani but also in other books of Hadith of both Shia and Sunni sects. Furthermore, this principle has been accepted by the scholars of Hadith that if a prophecy of any Hadith has been fulfilled, then even if, for the sake of argument, that Hadith was earlier considered as false, the Hadith will be regarded as true after the prophecy has been fulfilled because God has borne witness to its truth since except God nobody has power over the unknown. The Holy Quran says: i.e. only the Messengers of Allah can narrate the unseen in a perfect way; others cannot be of this rank. Here Messengers include Rasool Nabi, Muhaddath and Mujaddid. Covenant of The Prophets

And remember the time when Allah took a covenant from the people through the Prophets, saying: ‘Whatever I give you of the Book and Wisdom and then there comes to you a Messenger, fulfilling that which is with you, you shall believe in him and help him.’ And He said: ‘Do you agree, and do you accept the responsibility which I lay upon you in this matter?’ They said, ‘We agree;’ He said, ‘Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses.(Chapter 3 Verse 82)

This is such a beautiful verse and outlines the covenant that whenever a Messenger comes to you fulfilling what is with you, you should believe in him and also help him. This shows that as the Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw) did bring a book, The Holy Qur’an, a messenger had to come for his ummah and under his shariah. Some Non Ahmadis have firstly tried claiming that this ayah was for the prophets before the Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw) and the promise referred to them having to accept the Prophet(saw) if they saw him. This is totally flawed as no prophet saw the Prophet(saw) and all had died before him. Some raise the allegation that no, Isa(as) is alive which is also a false belief but then I humbly ask them that if this refers to Isa(as) then where was he when the Prophet Muhammad(saw) was being persecuted? Him not coming to help the Prophet(saw) from the heavens as the Non Ahmadis believe he is there, itself proves that Isa(as) has died. However, Allah has made it clear that this covenant was indeed also taken from the Prophet Muhammad(saw). Allah states:

And remember when We took from the Prophets their covenant, and from thee, and from Noah, and Abraham, and Moses, and Jesus, son of Mary, and We indeed took from them a solemn covenant;(Chapter 33 Verse 8)

Allah has clearly stated that he Has taken the Covenant from the Prophet Muhammad(saw) as well as from the other Prophets.

Prophets Within The Ummah

O children of Adam! if Messengers come to you from among yourselves, rehearsing My Signs unto you, then whoso shall fear God and do good deeds, on them shall come no fear nor shall they grieve.(Chapter 7 Verse 36)

This verse is giving a grand prophecy of prophets coming within this Ummah. If Allah was not planning on sending any more prophets He would not have said “If Messengers Come to you”. Can any non Ahmadi claim that this verse is useless and does not belong in the Qur’an or any such statement? Allah has also used the words minkum which refers to from you. Muhammad(saw) used the exact same words for the coming of Isa(as) and this shows that the prophet would be from among us and from us, meaning the Muslims.

Some Non Ahmadi Muslims claim that because it states children of Adam, it does not refer to Muslims. This argument is completely baseless. Firstly this verse is speaking about the future and Allah would not have stated “If Messengers come to you” if it was in regards to the past. The ayah also used rusul in plural form which shows us that non law bearing prophets can indeed come under the Prophet Muhammad(Saw) but would not bring a new law.

Some have shockingly also claimed that the words O Children of Adam do not refer to Muslims. This is totally incorrect. Firstly then who is this verse referring to? Do the non Ahmadis try to claim that the future tense of this ayah refers to prophets outside of the ummah? It is obvious that they do not have such a belief. Now I will show some ayahs that show that O Children of Adam does indeed include the Muslims:

O children of Adam! We have indeed sent down to you raiment to cover your shame, and to be an elegant dress; but the raiment of righteousness — that is the best. That is one of the Signs of Allah, that they may remember.O children of Adam! let not Satan seduce you, even as he turned your parents out of the garden, stripping them of their raiment that he might show them their shame. Truly he sees you, he and his tribe, from where you see them not. Surely, We have made satans friends for those who believe not.(Chapter 7 Verse 28-29)

Now can one really say that when Allah is revealing such commands Muslims are excluded? No one believes such a thing and in verse 30 of the same chapter Allah has also indicated that He is indeed including the nation of the Muslims:

Say, ‘My Lord has enjoined justice. And fix your attention aright at every time andplace of worship, and call upon Him, making yourselves sincere towards Him in religion. As He brought you into being, so shall you return.’(Chapter 7 Verse 30)

Allah has used Qul (say) and whenever this is used Allah is referring to the nation of the Muslims in the Qur’an. Some can also raise the allegation that does this include Law bearing prophets as well? Of course not as Islam is completed and Allah has stated that they would be from amongst the Muslims and they would rehearse the signs of Allah rather than bring anything new.

The Sunnah of Allah

Allah chooses His Messengers from among angels, and from among men. Surely, Allah is All- Hearing, All-Seeing. (Chapter 22 Verse 76)

This verse outlines the sunnah of Allah and his way. He Has clearly stated that He Chooses Messengers from among the angels and from among men and the Arabic makes it clear that He would continue to do this. The Arabic word used here is Yastafi which in Arabic is referred to as Mudari. This refers to a present and future tense rather than a past tense. If this verse only referred to the verb in the past tense rather than future and present. Allah could have also used the word istafa instead of yastafi if the ayah was only referring to the Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw) as some Non Ahmadi Muslims claim.

Now its clear that this is the law of Allah and we know from the Qur’an that never will we find a change in the law of Allah. Allah states:

Such has been the way of Allah in the case of those who passed away before, and thou wilt never find a change in the way of Allah.(Chapter 33 Verse 63)
Allah also states:

Such is the law of Allah that has been in operation before; and thou shalt not find any change in the law of Allah.(Chapter 48 Verse 24)
This is just another law of Allah and never will we find a change in it. Some non Ahmadis try to say that does this mean a law bearing prophet can come? However this itself is a question that makes no sense as Allah has revealed the Qur’an and the Qur’an is the perfect book. The Qur’an has clearly stated:

Forbidden to you is the flesh of an animal which dies of itself, and blood and the flesh of swine; and that on which is invoked the name of one other than Allah; and that which has been strangled; and that beaten to death; and that killed by a fall; and that which has been gored to death; and that of which a wild animal has eaten, except that which you have properly slaughtered; and that which has been slaughtered at an altar. And forbidden is alsothat you seek to know your lot by the divining arrows. That is an act of disobedience. This day have those who disbelieve despaired of harming your religion. So fear them not, but fear Me. This day have I perfected your religion for you and completed My favour upon you and have chosen for you Islam as religion. But whoso is forced by hunger, without being wilfully inclined to sin, then, surely, Allah is Most Forgiving, Merciful.(Chapter 5 Verse 4)

Allah has made it clear that Islam is the Final Religion and that the religion is complete. Also remember that Ahmadis have not added anything to Islam nor did the Promised Messiah Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) change anything. Everything he did was prophesied, in fact his coming was even prophesied.
