Welcome to Ahmadi Answers

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is the only Islamic organization to believe that the long-awaited Messiah has come in the person of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) (1835-1908) of Qadian. Ahmad(as) claimed to be the metaphorical second coming of Jesus(as) of Nazareth and the divine guide, whose advent was foretold by the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad(saw). We believe that according to the Qur’an and the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad(saw) it is clear that the latter day messiah would be an imam from amongst the Muslims. Ahmadiyya Muslim Community believes that God sent Ahmad(as), like Jesus(as), to end religious wars, condemn bloodshed and re-institute morality, justice and peace. Ahmad(as)’s advent has brought about an unprecedented era of Islamic revival. He divested Islam of fanatical beliefs and practices by vigorously championing Islam’s true and essential teachings.

“Father Died Before His Birth”

This is a really foolish allegation as the time of when the father of the Prophet(saw) died does have different views. One has to remember that Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) has clearly stated in Paigham Sulh that when we look at the history, we see that Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw) was the same child who’s father died a few days after the birth of Muhammad(saw). Now the Promised Messiah(as) has stated history, so the non Ahmadi Muslims accuse the Promised Messiah(as) of this, and try to state that such does not exist in the history books. However, when we look at the books of history, there are countless of books that say that the father of the Prophet(saw), died after he was born.In fact the history books themselves, say that most of the ulama have the belief that the father of the Prophet(saw) died after his birth.

Here are some references of others who also held the view that the father of the Prophet(saw) died after he was born. Here are some references:

Ibn Ishaq has written in his Sirah An Nabawiyyah “And it is said: Certainly, Abdullah died while the Prophet Muhammad(saw) was twenty eight months of age”

Ibn Sa’d has written in kitab at Tabaqat al Kabir:

Hisham Ibn Muhammad ibn said al Kalbi told us from his father and from Awanah ibn Al Hakam they both said “Abdullah Ibn Abdul Mutalib died after twenty eight months had gone by upon the Apostle of Allah(saw), and it is said seven months”

Some more references:

Ibn al-Jawzī (d. 1201 AD) writes in al-Muntaẓam fī sulūk al-mulūk wa-l-umam:
“And it has been reported to us that ‘Abdu llāh died after twenty-eight months had gone by upon the Apostle of Allāh (saw), and it was said: Seven months.”

an-Nawawī (d. 1277 AD) writes in Tahdhīb al-asmā’ wa-l-lughāt: “al-Ḥākim Abū Aḥmad said: It is said: ‘Abdu llāh, the father of the Apostle of Allāh (saw), died while the Apostle of Allāh (saw) was twenty-eight months old, and it was said: Nine months, and it was said: Seven months, and it was said: Two months.

al-Mizzī (d. 1341 AD) writes in Tahdhīb al-kamāl fī asmā’ ar-rijāl: “And his father, ‘Abdu llāh ibn ‘Abd al-Muṭṭalib, died while twenty-eight months had gone by on him, and it was said: Less that that.”

Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah (d. 1350 AD) writes in Zād al-ma’ād fī hady khayr al-’ibād: “And the second [opinion] is that he died seven months after his birth.”

Ibn Kathīr (d. 1373 AD) writes in al-Bidāyah wa-n-nihāyah: And it is said: Certainly, ‘Abdu llāh died while the Prophet (saw) was twenty-eight months of age.”

There are many many more references as well which show many had this view and it does not affect ones faith either.
