Welcome to Ahmadi Answers

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is the only Islamic organization to believe that the long-awaited Messiah has come in the person of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) (1835-1908) of Qadian. Ahmad(as) claimed to be the metaphorical second coming of Jesus(as) of Nazareth and the divine guide, whose advent was foretold by the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad(saw). We believe that according to the Qur’an and the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad(saw) it is clear that the latter day messiah would be an imam from amongst the Muslims. Ahmadiyya Muslim Community believes that God sent Ahmad(as), like Jesus(as), to end religious wars, condemn bloodshed and re-institute morality, justice and peace. Ahmad(as)’s advent has brought about an unprecedented era of Islamic revival. He divested Islam of fanatical beliefs and practices by vigorously championing Islam’s true and essential teachings.

Two Yellow Sheets?

Now another important fact to note is that the latter day messiah coming with two sicknesses was actually prophesied by the Prophet Muhammad(saw) himself. He(saw) states:

Narrated Abu Hurayrah:

The Prophet (saw) said: There is no prophet between me and him, that is, Jesus (ﷺ). He will descent (to the earth). When you see him, recognise him: a man of medium height, reddish fair, wearing two light yellow garments, looking as if drops were falling down from his head though it will not be wet. He will fight the people for the cause of Islam. He will break the cross, kill swine, and abolish jizyah. Allah will perish all religions except Islam. He will destroy the Antichrist and will live on the earth for forty years and then he will die. The Muslims will pray over him. (Sunan Abi Dawud #4324)

Also in Sahih Muslim it is stated:

Allah would send Christ, son of Mary, and he will descend at the white minaret in the eastern side of Damscus wearing two garments lightly dyed with saffron and placing his hands on the wings of two Angels. (Sahih Muslim #2937)

Now firstly this Hadith and the signs will be explained later on but what we need to focus is him wearing to yellow garments. Muhammad(saw) made it clear that one should not wear yellow and also made it clear that visions are not taken literally. Here are Ahadith telling us not to wear yellow.

The ahadith are as follows:

‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr narrated that:

The Messenger of Allah [SAW] saw him wearing two garments dyed with safflower and he said: “This is the clothing of disbelievers; do not wear it.”(Sunan an Nasai, #5316)

Another Hadith of Sahih Muslim states:

‘Ali b. Abu Talib reported that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) forbade wearing of silk and yellow clothes, and the gold ring, and the reciting of the Qur’an in the ruku’ (state of kneeling in prayer).(Sahih Muslim #2078 a)

Another Hadith forbidding wearing yellow clothing is:

‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr bin Al-‘As (May Allah be pleased with them) said:

The Prophet (ﷺ) saw me dressed in two saffron-coloured garments and asked, “Has your mother commanded you to wear these?” I asked him, “Shall I wash them out?” He replied, “You had better set them to fire”

Another narration is: “These are garments of the disbelievers. So do not wear them.”

(Riyad as Salihin Narrated by Muslim Book 18 Hadith #289 and Book 18 Hadith #1799,Sahih Muslim book 19 hadith 289)

Therefore, if Jesus(as) is going to come wearing yellow robes, it would contradict with two other hadith of the Prophet where he said Muslims should not wear yellow robes. Unless you claim the messiah to come would be a non Muslim? It shows that he will not physically be wearing two yellow robes rather it is signifying something else. It is clear that no Muslim Messiah should ever wear such a dress.

Lets see what the dream interpretations have to say:

Tabir al Ruyah is written by Hazrat Muhamed Bin of Egypt. It is a famous Interpretation of Dreams book, and states that yellow clothes signify sickness.

Yellow — (Color) Wearing a yellow silken garment in a dream means a sickness. If a warrior sees himself wearing a yellow silken garment in a dream, it means that he will be decorated for his chivalry. Yellow in a dream also represents strains (Islamic dream Interpretation Official Website)

This proves the Messiah will have two illnesses. One on the top part of his body, and one on the bottom part. And Ahmad(as) had both. Dreams are never taken physically and always have hidden meanings in them

“Once, on account of mental fatigue and headache, I became so weak that I was afraid I would not be able to go on writing anymore. Such was my weakness that I felt no life in my body. In this condition, I received the revelation: “The capacities of youth are restored to you” Within a few days I began to feel that my lost powers were being restored, and I soon became so strong that I am now able to write at least two chapters of a new book everyday with my own hand, and am able to do the reflection and thinking that are necessary for such creative writing. Of course I suffer from two ailments, one relating to the upper part of my body, and the other to the lower one. In the upper part I suffer from headache, and in the lower I suffer from frequent urge to pass water. I have suffered from these ailments ever since I published my claim that I had been appointed by God. I supplicated for relief from these ailments, but the answer was always no. I was also made to feel that it had been decreed from the beginning that the Promised messiah(As) would descend clad in two yellow sheets, with his hands resting on the shoulders of two angels. These (two illnesses) are indeed the same two yellow sheets which represent my physical condition.( [Haqiqat-ul-Wahi, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 22, pp. 319-320)
