Welcome to Ahmadi Answers

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is the only Islamic organization to believe that the long-awaited Messiah has come in the person of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) (1835-1908) of Qadian. Ahmad(as) claimed to be the metaphorical second coming of Jesus(as) of Nazareth and the divine guide, whose advent was foretold by the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad(saw). We believe that according to the Qur’an and the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad(saw) it is clear that the latter day messiah would be an imam from amongst the Muslims. Ahmadiyya Muslim Community believes that God sent Ahmad(as), like Jesus(as), to end religious wars, condemn bloodshed and re-institute morality, justice and peace. Ahmad(as)’s advent has brought about an unprecedented era of Islamic revival. He divested Islam of fanatical beliefs and practices by vigorously championing Islam’s true and essential teachings.

Last Prophet?

This hadith is misquoted by the non Ahmadi Muslims and they try to hide the reality of what the Hadith is saying. The full hadith is:

Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported:

Prayer in the mosque of Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) is more excellent than a thousand prayers in other mosques except the Masjid al-Haram, for Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) is the last of the Apostles, and his mosque is the last of the mosques. Abu Salama and Abu Abdullah (two of the narrators in this chain of narrations said: We had no doubt that what Abu Haraira (Allah be pleased with him) had said was from Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ), and so we did not like to get an attestation from Abu Huraira about this hadith until Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) died. We discussed it (the issue of getting attestation from Abu Huraira) amongst ourselves and blamed one another as to why we did not talk about it to Abu Huraira regarding it so that he could attribute its transmission to Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) in case he had heard It from him. While we were discussing it as we sat with ‘Abdullah b. Ibrahlm b. Qariz; we made a mention of this hadith, and our omission (in getting its attestation) about its direct transmission by Abu Huraira from him (the Holy Proohet) ; thereupon Abdullah b. Ibrahim said to us: I bear witness to the fact that I heard Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) say that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: I am the last of the Apostles and my mosque is the last of the mosques.(Sahih Muslim 1394 C)

Now the Prophet Muhammad(saw) has compared him being the last of the prophets to his mosque being the last of the mosques? What does this mean? This simply means that no prophet would come who contradicts the teachings of Muhammad(saw) as no mosque would be built that does not offend the status of the greatest mosque.

The building of mosques does not offend Nabi

(sa)’s “last mosque” statement, nor does the coming of a sub –ordinate prophet contradict his finality.

We all know that after the death of the Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw) over 100,000 mosques were built. Sadly according to the Non Ahmadi logic it would mean that none of those were mosques. Can one really believe such a thing?

Caliphs Will Increase In Number?

The Non Ahmadis continue to ignore all the ahadith telling us of a prophet. clearly shows us Muhammad(Saw) is referring to an immediate prophet after him that there would be no one right after me rather only caliphs which can apply to mujadids also. Muhammad(saw) has compared his ummah to the Prophets of Bani Israel. As we see prophets kept coming after each other which is what the Prophet Muhammad(saw) has explained here. The Islamic ummah would not have prophets immediately after one another, rather after the Prophet Muhammad(saw) the next prophet would come in the end times as he himself has stated in regards to the latter day messiah that:

There would be no prophet between me and him, and he would descend (Abu Dawud)

Also Ahmad(as) was a caliph of Allah in fact hadith calls him the caliph of Allah. The hadith states:

When you see them, then pledge your allegiance to them even if you have to crawl over the snow, for that is the caliph of Allah, Mahdi.”(Sunan Ibn maja Hadith #4084)

Quran calls Adam(as) a caliph also and yet he was a prophet so its clear this shows that a prophet can only come if he is under Muhammad(saw) as Quran and ahadith support and that here Muhammad(saw) is referring to a prophet against his shariah or one who comes with new teachings. The only prophethood which is opened is under Nabi(saw) and through his blessings one can attain a rank. This is supported by many verses of Quran and once again you continue to forget that Allah and Nabi(saw) has called the latter day messiah a prophet but an ummati Nabi which is the only possibility.

Allah states:

Allah has promised to those among you who believe and do good works that He will surely make them Successors in the earth, as He made Successors from among those who were before them; and that He will surely establish for them their religion which He has chosen for them; and that He will surely give them in exchange security and peace after their fear: They will worship Me, and they will not associate anything with Me. Then whoso is ungrateful after that, they will be the rebellious.

The caliphs here mentioned who were before the people of Muhammad(saw) were khalifas but also prophets. These include Hadhrat Isa(as). One has to understand that this hadith is referring to prophets coming after each other in a chain and we agree such was not to happen in our ummah. The word ba’d here refers to immediately after however we cannot ignore all of the prophecies in regards to the latter day messiah who Muhammad(saw) said would come as a prophet.

The non Ahmadis have also ignored this beautiful prophecy of the Prophet Muhammad(saw). He states:

“Prophethood would remain among you so long as Allah wills. Then Allah the Exalted would raise it up. Then Caliphate on the precepts of Prophethood would be established and remain among you for as long as Allah wills. Then Allah the Exalted would raise it up. Then despotic rule would remain among you for as long as Allah wills. Then Allah the Exalted would raise it up. Then a tyrranous rule would remain among you for aslong as Allah wills. Then Allah the Exalted would raise it up. Then Caliphate on the precepts of Prophethood would be established again. Then, the Holy Prophet (sa) remained silent.”(Mishkat)

This hadith is extremely beautiful. The Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw) has firstly prophesied about caliphate after him and has stated that it would remain as long as Allah wills. After that Allah would raise it up and false and violent rulers would appear. After that Allah would exalt it back up and then it would be established again on the precepts of prophethood, meaning a prophet would come who would leave khilafat behind him. Now which prophet are all the Muslims waiting? The latter day messiah. So it is indeed clear that this refers to that same messiah who Muslims sadly await, although he has already come.

The interesting part is that where this hadith is recorded, it is stated:

“It is obvious that the second era of this caliphate refers to the time of the Messiah and Mahdi”

Some have said that this hadith does not refer to prophethood but anyone who has the ability to read Arabic can see that the Holy Prophet(saw) has said khilafatun ala minhajin-nabuwwah meaning caliphate on the precepts of prophethood. This clearly shows us that the caliphate would be established with the coming of the prophet and would begin after his death, just like it did after the death of our master Muhammad(saw).

Ahmad(as) states:

His advent, thus has not closed the stream of Divine Grace but its course has been channelized through his person which is now, so to say, the new Headwork. A prophet, henceforth, shall appear only through allegiance to him, by receiving light from his light and as his shadow and reflection, and not otherwise. Hence, “all prophethood except Muhammadan prophethood has ended. No law-giving prophet shall ever come, and a prophet without law may, but only such as is primarily a follower of the Holy Prophet (Allah bless him). I am both a follower and a Prophet.” (Tajalliyate Ilahiyya , pp. 24-25)

Al Aqib ?

Firstly I would like to clear up that the non Ahmadis have changed up the brackets of your own translators to there will be no prophet after me, which is not even the meaning of Aqib. The bracket on your own authentic website, sunnah.com states: (i.e. who succeeds the other prophets in bringing about good) not what you claimed so you got caught trying to lie once already. Now secondly just because this hadith is Bukhari does not make it automatically authentic, this is your misconception. Let us see the narrations of this hadith: al-Hakm bin Nafi’, Abu al-Yaman ——» Shu’aib bin Abi Hamza ——» al-Zuhri ——» Muhammad bin Jubayr bin Mut’im ——» Jubayr bin Mut’im

In regards to al Zuhri it is stated:

“He would fabricate (narrations)”.

Imam Ahmad states that this narrator has incorrectly quoted upwards of about twenty narrations from Zuhri Yahya bin Sa‘id Al-Qattan. Imam Ahmad states states that I testify on oath that Sufyan bin ‘Uyaiyna completely lost his senses in 197 A.H. Hence, anyone who takes a narration from his after this time it is unreliable.” (Mizanul-I‘tidal, Volume 1, p. 397)
In regards to Zuhri It is also said : “He would fabricate (narrations) the odd time.” (Mizanul-I‘tidal, Volume 2, p. 146)

Now another narrator

The very same narrator in this hadith has added the words al aqib is he whom after there is no prophet in the narration of tirmidhi.

Anyhow let us look at the meaning of Al Aqib. The word Aqib is an arabic word. The companions of the Prophet Muhammad(Saw) knew Arabic which makes the ending part of the Tirmidhi narration make no sense. Why would Prophet Muhammad(saw) describe himself and right after that translate the word? If Al Aqib actually meant after whom there is no prophet then the companions would know right away Prophet Muhammad(Saw) would not need to translate it. This shows those latter words were added by someone else.

Hadrat Mullah Ali Qari states: “It is obvious that the words ‘And Al-‘Aqib is he after whom there is no prophet,’ have been added as a commentary by a companion or someone afterwards. Ibni A‘rabi states that Al-‘Aqib refers to someone who succeeds another person in something good.”( Mirqat Sharh Mishkat, Volume 5, p. 376)

This is supported by your own translators in the Bukhari narrations and secondly once again you are rejecting all the ahadith that call the latter day messiah a prophet under Muhammad(saw)

Messengership and Prophethood Terminated?

The entire hadith states:

Anas bin Malik narrated:

“The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: ‘Indeed Messenger-ship and Prophethood have been terminated, so there shall be no Messenger after me, nor a Prophet.'” He(Anas) said:”The people were concerned about that, so he (s.a.w) said: ‘But there will be Mubash-shirat.’ So they said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! What is Mubash-shirat?’ He said: ‘The Muslim’s dreams, for it is a portion of the portions of Prophethood.'” (Tirmidhi, Vol. 4, Book 8, Hadith 2272)

Firstly this is not an authentic hadith.

“Ibni Qani‘ states that he is a weak narrator. Dar Qutni states that with regards to the authenticity of this narrator, the scholars hold reservations.” (He is speaking about the first narrator named Hasan Bin Muhammad Az Za-farani) (Mizanul Itidal, Volume page 241)

In regards to the second narrator named Affan Bin Muslim, it is stated by Abu Khaithamah:We do not accept this narrator to be genuine.”(Mizanul Itidal, Volume 2 page 203)

About another narrator named Abdul Wahid Bin Ziyad it is stated “This narrator is of no value whatsoever”(Mizanul Itidal, Volume 2 page 157)

It is also stated that “This narrator often commits mistakes in his narrations. Sulaimani has stated that this narrator is among those who have relayed false narrations from Hazrat Anas(Tahzeebut Tahzib, Volume 10 Page 68)

Secondly this hadith supports Ahmadiyyat. It states that apostleship and prophethood have come to an end but Mubashirat remains. Prophethood which is based off Mubashirat is basically non Law bearing prophethood.

Hadhrat Allamah Ibni Hajar Al Asqalani, who has written the most famous and read commentary on Sahih Bukhari, called Fathul Bari has stated:“In this narration, the definite article ‘Al’ is used to indicate aspecific time frame and specifically infers the particular prophethood of the Holy Prophet (sa) himself. The true purport is that after me, the prophethood which was specific to me (i.e., law-bearing prophethood) has come to an end, however, Mubashirat (non-law-bearing prophethood) shall remain.”(Fathul-Bari Sharhul-Bukhari, Kitabut-Ta‘bir, Babul-Mubashirat)

This statement shows that law bearing prophethood has come to an end which Ahmadi’s always preach and believe in. The prophethood of Mubashirat however still remains and will till the end times. The arabic word ruya is not only used for dreams. It can also mean spiritual experiences which a person sees which includes visions and divine revelation.

Allah states: “And We made not the vision which We showed thee but as a trial for men.” (word ruya is used (17:61)

“The heart of the Prophet was not untrue to that which it saw.” (53:12) This verse shows us also that it can refer to spiritual experiences felt by the heart.

Further Ayesha(ra) states: “The commencement of revelation to Allah’s Messenger (sa) was in the form of true dreams(Bukhari)

Also: “True dreams are one portion of the forty-six portions of prophethood” (Bukhari)

This proves that yes Mubashirat will remain till the day of judgement and this is a main characteristic of prophethood.

Last Brick?

Firstly the correct translation of the Hadith unlike the non Ahmadis post is :

Verily, my example and the example of the prophets before me can be likened to a man who built a house and paid great attention to its beautification and decoration. However, he leaves a place empty for one brick at its corner. People would walk around this house and would become astonished as to why this single place has been left empty. Then, the Holy Prophet (sa) said, ‘I am that brick and I am the Seal of the Prophets.’ (Bukhari)

They try to claim that this means that Nabi(Saw) presented the example of a house and shoed that it had a missing brick and that he is that missing brick which completes the building, meaning there is no further brick for another prophet. Secondly they try claiming that khataman nabiyeen here means last and that Nabi(Saw) used khataman nabiyeen to mean last brick. This hadith is metaphorically describing prophethood and the bricks are the prophets of Allah.

Now in Fathul Bari which is the most trusted commentary of Sahih Bukhari, it is stated: “In this Hadith, the purpose is to allude to the perfection of the law of Muhammad (sa) in comparison to the laws of the past.”

If we take the interpretation of the Non Ahmadis we would be accusing Nabi(Saw) and insulting him by stating that for him its a single brick but for the other religions many prophets came after one another. As a Muslim we cannot accept an interpretation that mocks Muhammad(Saw). Both ways this hadith supports Ahmadis. Nabi(Saw) states: “Verily, my example and the example of the prophets before me can be likened to…” This shows that Nabi(Saw) is referring to the prophets before him. Nabi(Saw) would not have said this rather would have said Verily my example and the example of all the prophets can be likened to. Nabi(saw) is using an analogy for the prophets of the past and refers to the perfection of his shariat which began with Adam(as). Secondly this isn’t even reliable.

It has two chain of narrations. First chain there is a narrator called Zuhair Bin Muhammad Taimi who is a weak narrator. It is stated:Mu‘awiyyah states that Yahya and Abu Zar‘ah consider him(i.e., Zuhair bin Muhammad Taimi) to be an unreliable narrator. ‘Uthman Ad-Darmi states that his false narrations are present in abundance. Imam Nisa’i has also declared him to be weak and at another occasion

Imam Nisa’i has stated that he is not a reliable narrator.”Tahzibut-Tahzib, Volume 2, p. 349

Even Imam Nisai has declared him to be a weak narrator! The second narration contains Abdullah Bin Dinar and Abu Salih Al Khauzi. Uaqaili has stated that the narration of Abdullah bin Dinar is not Authentic and Ibni Muin declared Ibn Salih a weak narrator as well Tahzibut-Tahzib, Volume 5, p. 202 ,241 Mizanul-I‘itidal, Volume 3, p. 365

Despite all of this you await a prophet yourself whom we say is Ahmad(as), The latter day messiah.

It Would Have Been Umar…

The non Ahmadis quote that the Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw) has stated that if there was to have been a prophet after him it would have been Umar Bin Khattab(ra)

Imam Tirmidhi has recorded this Hadith and he has said that,‘This Hadith is unreliable.”

Character of Mishrah:

Ibni Habban has declared Mishrah bin Ha‘an as being unreliable and that his narrations are not deemed as being trustworthy. And the truth is that wherever he is the sole-narrator of a Hadith, such a Hadith should be abandoned. Ibni Dawood states that this narrator was a part of that army which laid siege upon Hadrat ‘Abdullah bin Zubair and threw rocks upon the Ka‘bah with catapults.”Tahzibut-Tahzib, Volume 10, p. 155, Mizanul-I‘itidal, Volume 2, p. 477, Volume 3, p. 172

Imam Shaukani : In the chain of narrators, there are two who are worthy of being abandoned, and they are ‘Abdullah bin Waqidi and Mishrah bin Ha‘an.”((Al-Fawa’idul-Majmu‘ati fil-Hadithil-Maudu‘ah, Muhammadi Press Lahore, p. 113)

Even Imam Suyuti (ra) said its weak : Jami‘us-Saghir, Babul-Lam, Volume 2, p. 131

Now its sad that you take this one unauthentic hadith to try to say that there is no prophet and ignore all the prophecies of Muhammad(saw). If you take this hadith to be authentic understand that badi can also refer to immediately after. As Ahmadis we don’t take one hadith and ignore the rest, you need to see everything Nabi(saw) said. He prophesied of a latter day messiah who would be a prophet, who is Ahmad(As), also. So what does this hadith mean then if Muhammad(saw) prophesied about a prophet? It refers to an immediate prophet after Muhammad(Saw) then it would be Umar(ra) (if we take it to be authentic) both ways we know the latter day messiah had to come as a prophet and has indeed come.

Another narration some Non Ahmadis try to quote is “Had I not been raised as a prophet verily you would have been in my stead O Umar”

This makes it clear that Umar(ra) had the qualities of Prophethood and that he would a prophet if Muhammad(saw) was not appointed. We Ahmadis accept all ahadith and do not take one and ignore the rest which the non Ahmadis sadly do when coming to these ahadith. It is also interesting that they use these ahadith to close prophethood when they themselves know of the prophesies of Muhammad(saw) prophesising a prophet and await a prophet themselves.

Thirty Liars?

Non Ahmadis try to argue is that Nabi(saw) said that there will be thirty liars after him and each of them would claim prophethood, but there is no prophet after me. Secondly you will say that we believe Nabi(saw) is the seal of the prophets meaning best, but here Nabi(saw) defines khataman nabiyeen as the last of the prophets.

Firstly, the second meaning in which the word ba’d is used is to say when one appears after the other in time. This supports Ahmadiyyat’s view on prophethood. Its basically referring to after the passing away of the Prophet(Saw)’s era, no prophet would come. This hadith shows that no prophet would come and start a new and independent era of his own, or in other words bring a religion. So now if ba’d is taken to refer to a specific time period, then la nabiyya ba’di would mean that no prophet would come who would bring a new religion or end the era of The Prophet(Saw). The era which is being referred to in the word ba’d is the spiritual era of Nabi(saw) and it proves to us that his era would last until the end time. Therefore no prophet will ever come that would put an end to his era or abrogate his law which Allah sent with him, meaning the Holy Quran. Therefore, as Quran proves and many hadith show us, if any prophet was to come he would come in complete obedience and be under the Prophet(saw), bringing nothing new to the law.

There is also a third meaning of the word ba’d which is supported by the Quran as to one who is in opposition of something. These verses are :

Chapter 45 Verse 7 literally states that In what word, then, after Allah and his signs will they believe? However its clear that the word after here refers to “besides”.

Again Allah states:

Again Allah literally states “Who, then, will guide him After Allah? Will you not then heed? (Chapter 45 Verse 24) Here as well its in the meaning of “besides Allah” as we know Allah has no end.

Using this definition of ba’d it shows that there can be no prophet who brings a teaching which contradicts and alters the law of Nabi(saw) This shows that if the only meaning of the word ba’d is after me in time, this means that Allah would also nauzobilla have an ending and that the after refers to Allah’s death nauzobilla. It would imply that there is something after the demise of Allah nauzobilla. It is obvious that ba’d is being used to mean besides Allah, meaning no one can guide a man aside from Allah not that Allah nauzobilla has an end.

A Bukhari Hadith which also supports our view is as follows:
\

Narrated Ibn `Abbas:

Musailama-al-Kadhdhab (i.e. the liar) came in the life-time of Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) with many of his people (to Medina) and said, “If Muhammad makes me his successor, I will follow him.” Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) went up to him with Thabit bin Qais bin Shams; and Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) was carrying a piece of a datepalm leaf in his hand. He stood before Musailama (and his companions) and said, “If you asked me even this piece (of a leaf), I would not give it to you. You cannot avoid the fate you are destined to, by Allah. If you reject Islam, Allah will destroy you. I think that you are most probably the same person whom I have seen in the dream.” Abu Huraira told me that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ); said, “While I was sleeping, I saw (in a dream) two gold bracelets round my arm, and that worried me too much. Then I was instructed divinely in my dream, to blow them off and so I blew them off, and they flew away. I interpreted the two bracelets as symbols of two liars who would appear after me. And so one of them was Al-Ansi and the other was Musailama Al-Kadhdhab from Al-Yamama.”(Sahih Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 56, Hadith #817)

Here the word ba’di is used for two false prophets who both appeared in the time of the Prophet(saw) rather than after him. It is used in the sense of being in opposition, against, or besides. This makes it clear that these ahadith refer to a prophet coming against the shariah of Muhammad(saw).

Now another important fact to keep in mind is that this hadith states that there would be thirty not that all would be liars. The number of thirty itself shows that a prophet can come. The Holy Prophet(saw) did not say all who claim to be a prophet after me are all liars as he himself prophesied about a latter day messiah in many ahadith. For example:

There would be no prophet between me and him, and he would descend(Abu Dawood) Here the Prophet Muhammad(saw) has clearly called the latter day messiah a prophet.

Another important fact to notice is that according to the sunni ulema these thirty liars have already died.

Alamah Qastalani states:

“Qadi ‘Ayad states the truth of this Hadith has been established because if the number of the renowned false claimants of prophethood is counted from the time of the Holy Prophet (sa) to the present time, this number has been fulfilled.

Further it is stated in Ikmal Al Ikmal, a commentary of Al-Sahih Muslim Volume 7 page 258 By Muhammad Bin Yusuf Al Sannusi Al Hassani: “It would be evident to every student of the history of Islam that the truth of this Hadith has been fully established. THe number of imposters from the time of the Holy Prophet(saw) till today has reached the count indicated by the Holy Prophet(saw) in his prophecy”

Nawab Siddique Hassan Khan writes: The prophecy made by the Holy Prophet(saw) regarding the advent of Dajjal in this ummah has been fulfilled and their number as foretold has been completed. (Hijaj Al Keramah page 239) (Published in 1874 A.D before the claim of Ahmad(as) to Prophethood)

Another important fact to state is that many ahadith do not have “there is no prophet after me” when it comes to this hadith which shows for this hadith it has indeed been added.

For example:

Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “The Hour will not be established till there is a war between two groups among whom there will be a great number of casualties, though the claims (or religion) of both of them will be one and the same. And the Hour will not be established till there appear about thirty liars, all of whom will be claiming to be the messengers of Allah. “(Sahih Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 56, Hadith #806)

Again it is stated:

Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:

The Last Hour would not come until there would arise about thirty impostors, liars, and each one of them would claim that he is a messenger of Allah.(Sahih Muslim Book 54, Hadith #108)

This shows that these words have indeed been added as the more authentic narrations do not include it.

Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) has stated:

“Some so-called Mullahs raise the allegation upon me that our Prophet(peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has given us the glad-tiding that thirty Anti-Christs would appear among you and each one would make a claim to prophethood. The answer to this is: O foolish ones! O unfortunate ones! Were thirty Anti-Christs the only thing written in your destiny and was there no truthful reformer decreed for you? A fifth of the 14th Century is about to reach its end and the moon of Caliphate has completed fourteen stages of its perfection to which the following verse of the Holy Qur’an is also alluding to: [ And for the moon we have appointed stages.] The world is at its end, but your Dajjals have not yet come to an end.Perhaps they would stay among you until death overtakes you. O foolish ones! That Dajjal which is known as satan is in fact within you;and therefore you do not recognize the time. You pay no attention to heavenly signs. But why should one lament upon you, for the one who appeared fourteen centuries after Moses(as) in my likeness was also named a dajjal by the wretched ones from among the Jews. Your hearts have also become similar. May Allah have mercy upon you”(Review Bar Mubhathah Batalwi Wa Chakralwi, page 7)

You are unto me as Aaron was to Moses

“You are unto me as Aaron (as) was to Moses(as), except that there is no prophet after me”

This hadith is one of the most quoted against the beliefs of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, regardless of the fact that it supports us most. The word ba’di itself which literally means after me, has three main ways of interpretations according to the Arabic language. The first meaning is used as a Zarf Makan, which refers to something being after or behind something else. For example, it can be used for a car being parked behind another car. It can also imply a physical absence of one from a specific area for a small period of absence or of leaving the earth. A second meaning which falls under zarf zaman, refers to the coming of something after the its predecessor in time.

There is also a third meaning of the word ba’d which is supported by the Quran as to one who is in opposition of something. These verses are :

“These are the Signs of Allah which We rehearse unto thee with truth. In what word, then, after rejecting that of Allah and His Signs will they believe?”(Chapter 45 Verse 7)

Chapter 45 Verse 7 literally states that In what word, then, after Allah and his signs will they believe? However its clear that the word after here refers to “besides”.

Again Allah states:

“Hast thou seen him who conceives of his god according to his own fancy, and whom Allah has adjudged astray on basis of His knowledge, and whose ears and whose heart He has sealed up, and on whose eyes He has put a covering? Who, then, will guide him after Allah has condemned him? Will you not then heed?”(Chapter 45 Verse 24)

Here as well its in the meaning of “besides Allah” as we know Allah has no end.

Now this hadith has to be looked into within its context. Holy Prophet(Saw) was talking to Hazrat Ali(Ra) while leaving him for a specific task and Nabi(saw) says you are unto me as Aaron(as) was to Moses(as). This hadith mentions Moses(As) and Aaron (As) because there was an incident when Moses(As) retreated to the mount of Tur and he did not leave the area in absence of a leader, and in fact left his brother Aaron(As) in charge during his absence to watch over his people. Aaron(As) and Moses(As) were both prophets of Allah. Now lets say Holy Prophet(Saw) had not said this, and left Ali(ra) in charge of his people, there was a chance of a misconception which would be created and people would think that perhaps Holy Prophet(Saw) is leaving Hazrat Ali(ra) behind and giving him the status of prophethood by using two prophets names. Therefore to remove this misconception Holy Prophet(saw) says La nabiyya ba’di that you are not a prophet in my absence. The word ba’di in this context clearly means the temporary not permanent absence, of Holy Prophet(Saw) from Medina. Therefore its meaning here is in my temporary absence. The word here can only refer to being beside as Harun(as) did not life longer than Moses(as) and was his helper. The Holy Prophet(saw) made it clear that there is no prophet besides him in the absence.

Hazrat Shah Waliullah Muhaddith Dehlvi (ra) is a great scholar of Islam and is known to be the mujadid of the 12th century. He has stated:

“It must be clearly understood that the object of this hadith is to highlight the appointment of Hazrat Ali(ra) to act in the place of or as an in charge of the region while the Holy Prophet(saw) was to be absent from Medina during his expedition to Tabuk. It was also done to higlight Ali(ra)’s resemblance to Hazrat Harun(ra) when Musa(as) had journeyed to the Mount. It is to be noted that the word ba’adi here means besides me.It does not mean after me in time as we say in the Qur’an : Who then will guide him other than Allah? Ba’dAllah meaning other than Allah” (Qurat-ul-Amin Fi Tafsir Al Shaikhain page 602)

What non Ahmadis try doing is, claiming that La means ending all types of prophethood, which has no basis at all from this hadith. Holy Prophet (sa) has used a sentence which is exactly indistinguishable to this in regards to the Caesar and Chosroes. The Holy Prophet(saw) stated:

Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Khosrau will be ruined, and there will be no Khosrau after him, and Caesar will surely be ruined and there will be no Caesar after him, and you will spend their treasures in Allah’s Cause.” He called, “War is deceit'(Sahih Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 52, Hadith #267)

However it is clear that there were many Caesars and Chosroes after them.

Again it is stated:

Narrated Mujahid bin Jabir Al-Makki:

`Abdullah bin `Umar used to say, “There is no more Hijrah (i.e. migration) after the Conquest of Mecca.”(Sahih Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 58, Hadith #239)

However we know there were much more migrations after the conquest of Mecca. This hadith being used for ending prophethood makes no sense at all. Along with this the non Ahmadis are ignoring all the countless of Ahadith that prophesies a latter day prophet.

Narrated Abu Hurayrah: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: There is no prophet between me and him, that is, Jesus (as). He will descend.(Sunan Abi Dawud 4324)

He(saw) also stated:

There was once water there. Jesus and his companions would then be besieged here (at Tur, and they would be so much hard pressed) that the head of the ox would be dearer to them than one hundred dinars and Allah’s Apostle, Jesus, and his companions would supplicate Allah, Who would send to them insects (which would attack their necks) and in the morning they would perish like one single person. Allah’s Apostle, Jesus, and his companions would then come down to the earth and they would not find in the earth as much space as a single span which is not filled with their putrefaction and stench. Allah’s Apostle, Jesus, and his companions would then again beseech Allah, Who would send birds whose necks would be like those of Bactrian camels and they would carry them and throw them where God would will. Then Allah would send rain which no house of clay or (the tent of) camels’ hairs would keep out and it would wash away the earth until it could appear to be a mirror. Then the earth would be told to bring forth its fruit and restore its blessing and, as a result thereof, there would grow (such a big) pomegranate that a group of persons would be able to eat that, and seek shelter under its skin and milch cow would give so much milk that a whole party would be able to drink it. And the milch camel would give such (a large quantity of) milk that the whole tribe would be able to drink out of that and the milch sheep would give so much milk that the whole family would be able to drink out of that and at that time Allah would send a pleasant wind which would soothe (people) even under their armpits, and would take the life of every Muslim and only the wicked would survive who would commit adultery like asses and the Last Hour would come to them.(Sahih Muslim, 2937a)

Here that same latter day Promised Messiah(as) whom we know and believe is Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) has been given the title of a prophet four times.

Ahmadi’s accept all ahadith which show us that a prophet was to come, we don’t pick and choose ahadith like you have. Look at all ahadith they clearly show us that Muhammad(Saw) is referring to a law bearing prophet and it becomes clear when you focus on the Quran and on the word ba’d itself and see the ahadith where a prophet is prophesied. Muhammad(saw) made it clear the messiah would be a prophet under him.

No Prophet After Me?

Lastly ahadith tell us the latter day Messiah would be a prophet. The Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw) has made it clear that he would be a prophet.
