The killing of the swine is just another metaphorical sign of the Messiah. Can a sincere Muslim really believe that the Messiah would be sent to touch such a disgusting animal and would have to run around the entire world killing pigs? If 100 pigs are killed on one side of the world another 1000 would be given birth on the other and another 1000 pounds would also be sold on the other. No true Muslim can believe that a prophet would be sent to run around in farms to kill Pigs as this is not a task of any prophet rather the task of the prophet is to guide the people towards Allah. How will the killing of pigs guide anyone to the truth? Can one really think that Allah would send a prophet on a mission to kill pigs ? Would this killing ever end? Of course not. This is a ridiculous interpretation and cannot be accepted.
The Holy Qur’an states:
Say, ‘Shall I inform you of those whose reward with Allah is worse than that? They arethose whom Allah has cursed and on whom His wrath has fallen and of whom He has made apes and swine and who worship the Evil One. These indeed are in a worse plight, and farther astray from the right path(Chapter 5 Verse 61)
Allah here is not referring to real pigs in the Qur’an rather has likened the evilness of the people to pigs and apes. The prophecy of killing the swine is also in the same manner. The reason the Holy Prophet(saw) said that the messiah would kill the swine is because the Messiah would have the duty of dealing with the people who would be like swine in their characteristics.
It is also stated in the interpretation of dreams that one who kills a pig, in reality means that he would argue with a evil minded person. In Tatirul Anam it is stated that a pig in a dream refers to a cruel and powerful enemy and many times is referred to the Jews of the Christians.
Ahmad(as) has stated:
In short, they begin with describing him as a Prophet and then reduce him to a degree that no sensible person can ever contemplate. Then, converting his functions from their metaphorical description into physical activities, they allege that he will break crosses and slaughter swine. They do not explain what he will gain by breaking crosses. Even if he broke one or two million crosses, would the Christians, who are devoted to the worship of the cross, not make new ones in place of the broken ones? If the slaughtering of swine is also to be taken literally, will the principal occupation of the Messiah be that of hunting swine with a pack of dogs?…But this activity of his will not in any way benefit the Christians, who are already very skilful in hunting swine. There are up to a thousand shops in London that sell the flesh of swine, and up to twenty-five thousand pigs are daily sent to the outlying areas of the city. The question is: is it worthy of a Prophet who has appeared for the reform of mankind to waste his time hunting pig?(Izala-e-Auham, Ruhani Khazain Volume 3 Page 123)
