The mention of the term Dajjal and gog and magog, are subjects which are always brought up by the non Ahmadi Muslims, when the topic of the descent of the latter day Messiah is mentioned. We find the mention of Dajjal in many Ahadith but not explicitly mentioned in the Qur’an. Gog and Magog, are mentioned both in the Qur’an and the Ahadith of the Prophet Muhammad(saw). The word Dajjal comes from the word dajala which simply refers to “he covered”. There are many reasons of why the Prophet Muhammad(saw) used the term Dajjal. One reason is that it shows that the being of dajjal would be a liar and would conceal or cover the reality with falsehood. A second interpretation of the word is that he would cover the earth with large numbers. A third meaning is that he would spread false beliefs within people and guide them astray. A fourth meaning is that he would spread over and at the same time cover the entire earth. Another meaning which should also be mentioned is that it would be a community that would cover the earth with its trades and merchandise. Lastly, a final view is that it would state things opposite to what the true intentions of the Dajjal are. Now the terms Ya’juj (referring to Gog) and Ma’juj (referring to magog) both come from ajj or ajij which refers to the flaming of the fire. Imam Raghib has stated that Ya’juj and Ma’juj have been compared to the flaming fire and surging water because of their intense agitation.
Signs In the Qur’an
Now as mentioned earlier, the word Dajjal does not appear in the Qur’an but is mentioned in countless of Ahadith. Here are two Ahadith in regards to which Qur’anic ayahs one should read, to be safeguarded from the Dajjal:
Abu Darda’ reported Allah’s Apostle (ﷺ) as saying:
If anyone learns by heart the first ten verses of the Surah al-Kahf, he will be protected from the Dajjal.(Sahih Muslim 809a)
Another hadith states:
Abu al-Darda’ reported the prophet (ﷺ) as saying :
If anyone memorizes ten verses from the beginning of surat al-Kahf, he will be protected from the trial of Dajjal (Antichrist). Abu Dawud said: In this way Hashim al-dastawa’I transmitted it from Qatadah, but he said : “If anyone memorizes the closing verses of surat al-Kahf.” Shu’bah narrated from Qatadah the words “from the end of al-Kahf. (Sunan Abi Dawud Hadith #4323)
One hadith tells us to read the first ten verses, and the second hadith tells us to read the last closing ayahs. Both hadith are reliable and show us that one should read both the first ten ayahs and the last ten ayahs of Surah Kahf. Now when we read the first and last ten ayahs, it becomes clear that these verses describe the fitnah of Christianity. It is important to see and read these ayahs.
Let us analyze why the Prophet Muhammad(Saw) has referred to surah kahf in regards to dajjal and why these specific verses. First let us analyze the first ten ayahs and what Allah has stated:
All praise belongs to Allah Who has sent down the Book to His servant and has not put therein any crookedness. (Chapter 18 verse 2)
Allah has clearly from the beginning of the verse mentioned that to Him belong All praise Alone (destroying the trinity already) and that this book is complete with no errors.
Further Allah states:
He has made it a guardian, that it may give warning of a grievous chastisement from Him, and that it may give the believers who do good deeds the glad tidings that they shall have a good reward, Wherein they shall abide for ever; (Chapter 18 Verse 3-4)
These ayahs also show that Islam is the dominant religion and the believers will have their reward of heaven while the Quran has given a clear warning to the disbelievers.
And that it may warn those who say, ‘ Allah has taken unto Himself a son. (Chapter 18 Verse 5)
This is really important as this ayah clearly warns us about the dangers of Christianity and has clearly referred to the Christian clergy which spread their main message of Allah taking a son God forbid. Now when we turn to the last ten verses it’s important to notice that Allah has also referred us to the dangers of the Christian faith and what they preach in comparison to what the Messiah(As) of Bani Israel himself preached.
Now we will analyze Chapter 18 of The Qur’an Verses 102-111. Allah States:
Whose eyes were under a veil so as not to heed My warning, and they could not even hear. Do the disbelievers think that they can take My servants as protectors instead of Me? Surely, We have prepared Hell as an entertainment for the disbelievers. Say, ‘Shall We tell you of those who are the greatest losers in respect of their works? —‘Those whose labour is all lost in search after things pertaining to the life of this world, and they think that they are doing good works.’ Those are they who disbelieve in the Signs of their Lord and in the meeting with Him. So their works are vain, and on the Day of Resurrection We shall give them no weight. Say, ‘If the ocean became ink for the words of my Lord, surely, the ocean would be exhausted before the words of my Lord came to an end, even though We brought the like thereof as further help.’ Say, ‘I am only a man like yourselves; but I have received the revelation that your God is only One God. So let him who hopes to meet his Lord do good deeds, and let him join no one in the worship of his Lord.’ (Chapter 18 Verses 102-111)
In these verses the concept of Christianity is also mentioned, along with the Western nations. The Christian nations are clearly after this world rather than the hereafter. They focus on wealth alone and have forgotten about the true words of Hazrat Isa(as) and his teachings. Both the first ten and the last ten ayahs have clearly spoke about the fitnah of the Christian doctrine, mainly revolving around the concept of Allah having a son, and worrying about wealth and material in this world alone, rather than the hereafter.
The Gog and Magog are mentioned three times in the Holy Qur’an. The first ayah is as follows:
They said, ‘O Dhu’l Qarnain, verily, Gog and Magog are creating disorder in the earth; shall we then pay thee tribute on condition that thou set up a barrier between us and them? (Chapter 18 Verse 95)
The second Khalifa, Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmood Ahmad(ra) has stated in his tafseer, in regards to this ayah: “The people who lived on the route of the depredatory incursions of Gog and Magog into Persia asked Cyrus to build a wall across the pass through which they made their raids”
The next ayah is as follows:
So they (Gog and Magog) were not able to scale it, nor were they able to dig through it (Chapter 18 Verse 98)
The Promised Son, Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmood Ahmad(ra) states in regards to this ayah “ When the building of the wall was completed, the raids of Gog and Magog from the north ceased. The wall was too thick to be broken through and too high to be scaled. It was as already stated, 29 feet high and 10 feet thick and had iron gates and watch towers. It effectively defended the Persian frontier”
After this ayah, Allah states:
Thereupon he said, ‘This is a mercy from my Lord. But when the promise of my Lord shall come to pass, He will break it into pieces. And the promise of my Lord is certainly true.(Chapter 18 Verse 99)
This statement was said by Dhul Qurnain who was a king.
This shows the beauty of the Quran and shows the existence of Allah has well. There is a famous wall called the Derbent wall and relates to Gog and Magog. There was a place called Derbent under Russia and there was a wall here as well which this sign is referring to. The king decided to build a wall to safeguard the people from attacks and the wall is called Derbent Wall. This was created by the same king, Dhul Qurnain.
This was a huge wall and the Quran is stating that when the Promise of the Lord would come Allah would break it into pieces. Now what is the Promise of Allah? The Promise of Allah here can also refer to the Promised Messiah(As) of the end times who has many prophecies in relation to Gog and Magog. So this wall was to break down during the time of the Messiah(As) and this wall started breaking in 1824 and in 1844 the wall was demolished. 1824 was the building stages to this and it was fully demolished in 1844.
From 1824-1844 we have 20 years, and the average is 10 years. When we add 10 years to 1824 we get 1834 which is year right before the Promised Messiah(As) Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(As) was born.
The last ayah where the Gog and Magog are mentioned in the Qur’an is:
It shall be so even when Gog and Magog are let loose and they shall hasten forth from every height.(Chapter 21 Verse 97)
Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmood Ahmad(ra) states: “The description of Gog and Magog as given in the Bible leaves no doubt about the fact that it applies to some Christian Powers of the West. Firstly, because they are represented as very numerous and powerful and mighty (secondly) their numbers are further swelling by their allies. Says the Bible:
Thou Shalt ascend, and come like a storm, Thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands and many people with thee (Ezekiel 39:9) Gog and Magog… the number of whom is as the sand of the sea (Revelations 20:8) Every feathered fowl; and every beast of the field is thus addressed, ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty and drink the blood of the princess of the earth (Ezekiel 39:18-19)
Secondly, they are shown coming forth from the northern parts of the earth, and from the isles “And Thou (o Gog) shalt come from thy place out of the north, thou, and many people with thee” (Ezekiel 38:15). Thirdly they will spread all over the world: “They went up on the breadth of the earth” (Revelations 20:9) Fourthly, from their home in the north, they will migrate to other lands and settle in all the four corners of the earth and in time of war they will gather together from their distant colonies: “Satan… shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle” (Revelations 20:8). Fifthly, the very root meaning of the words ‘Gog’ and ‘Magog’ as shown under “important words” points to Western Christian Nations as the nations refrred to in the above Biblical prophecies. The name Gog first occurs in 1 Chronicles 5:4 where he is mentioned as a descendant of Joel. But Ezekiel 38:3 and 39:1 speak of Gog as ‘Prince of Rosh, Meschech and Tubal, evidently Rosh standing for Russia, Meshech for Moscow and Tubal for Tobolsk. Gog is also spoken as ‘of the land of Magog’ (Ezikiel 38:2) and Magog in this verse of the Bible, according to the commentators of the Bible represents the regions which of old went by the name of Scythia (including Russia and Tartary), from which in the past issued many hordes of Barbarians. As Russia was included in the land of Magog, Rosh, Meshech and Tubal must be taken as standing for Russia, Moscow and Tobolsk. Magog was the second of Japeth’s sons (Genesis 10:2) and his descendants seem to have given their name to the land referred to in Ezekiel 38:2, but Magog has also been spoken as the name of a people in Ezekiel 39:6 and in Revelations 20:8. These passages also show that Gog and Magog represent some of the great powers of Europe, including Russia.
He further states:
“Gog and Magog have also been mentioned elsewhere in the Qur’an (18:95). There they have been spoken of as making raids into territories on the northern border of Iran, which means that they were the tribes generally known as Scythians. It is a known historical fact that in olden times the Scythians continued to move in large bodies from Asia to Europe, their route lying north of Caucasus (Encyclopedia Britannica Volume 12 Page 263 14th Edition). As one horde settled down in Europe new hordes came forth from the East pushing their predecessors further and further west. Thus the nations of Europe have been legitimately called Gog and Magog in the Biblical prophecy. It is curious that the memory of two heroes named Gog and Magog is preserved to this day in Guild Hall(London) in the form of two statues. The original effigies which were destroyed in the Great Fire in the sixteenth century are known to have existed in the time of Henry V. These heroes seem to have been connected with Britain from very ancient times.
He further states: “The verse may also signify that the nations that had been subjugated by Western Christian Powers had groaned under their cruel exploitation and heartless tyranny will rise to new life again when the Christian Powers will begin to deteriorate and fall, after having attained to the highest pinnacles of material glory” (5 Volume Commentary Under Chapter 21 Verse 97)
Why Does The Qur’an Not Mention Dajjal?
Many have asked why the Qur’an has mentioned Gog and Magog but not the Dajjal by its name. The word Dajjal means a liar or a fraud, while the Gog and Magog are the names of two nations and it cannot refer to other people. The English people even have statues of Gog and Magog in front of the Guildhall in London. The books of Ahadith use the word Dajjal as this word relates to the prophecies of the latter day Messiah as well as previous scriptures. The word dajjal clearly shows us that it refers to the people who lie and deceive and do it both in religious and worldly matters. This is what the ahadith which refer to the dajjal having one blind eye refer to. It would only have a strong materialistic side, but have no faith at all. The people of the cave is a description of the followers of Christianity and the People of Inscription refers to the people of the thing which is written, as raqam in Arabic means a thing written. This word is used in regards to articles of trade, for example clothing. It simply shows the addiction of the Christians to the worldly matters and that they are misleading people with their false religious ideas in regards to Jesus being the physical son of God, God Forbid.
The Dajjal In Ahadith Books
It is extremely important to mention that most of the ahadith in regards to the Dajjal are visions. The ahadith clearly use the words dream when describing the appearance of the Dajjal in many narrations, and it is clearly narrated in Sahih Muslim and many other ahadith books that Muhammad(saw) stated:
He (Dajjal) would be a young man with twisted, contracted hair, and a blind eye. I liken him(dajjal) to `Abd-ul-`Uzza b. Qatan. (Sahih Muslim 2937 A)
The words of the Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw) “liken him or as if” clearly shows that this was a vision being narrated. Some Ahadith in regards to the Dajjal have clearly stated that it was a dream seen by the Prophet Muhammad(saw. One, for example is:
Narrated `Abdullah:
The Prophet (ﷺ) mentioned the Masih Ad-Dajjal in front of the people saying, Allah is not one-eyed while Masih Ad-Dajjal is blind in the right eye and his eye looks like a bulging out grape. While sleeping near the Ka`ba last night, I saw in my dream a man of brown color the best one can see amongst brown color and his hair was long that it fell between his shoulders. His hair was lank and water was dribbling from his head and he was placing his hands on the shoulders of two men while circumambulating the Ka`ba. I asked, ‘Who is this?’ They replied, ‘This is Jesus, son of Mary.’ Behind him I saw a man who had very curly hair and was blind in the right eye, resembling Ibn Qatan (i.e. an infidel) in appearance. He was placing his hands on the shoulders of a person while performing Tawaf around the Ka`ba. I asked, ‘Who is this? ‘They replied, ‘The Masih, Ad-Dajjal.’ “(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith #3439)
All Muslims should be aware that visions are not taken literally. Here are some clear examples from the Qur’an and Ahadith which support this fact:
Allah states:
Remember the time when Joseph said to his father, ‘O my father, I saw in a dream eleven stars and the sun and the moon, I saw them making obeisance to me.’ He said, ‘O my darling son, relate not thy dream to thy brothers, lest they contrive a plot against thee; for Satan is to man an open enemy. (Chapter 12 verse 5-7)
Now will these anti Ahmadi also blame Joseph (As) for this vision? The stars and sun do not prostrate to humans rather to Allah alone. He narrated this dream to his father and he even had no objection to this vision. So were they lying? Did Joseph(as) lie to us God forbid? Will the anti Ahmadis raise this Allegation on Joseph(as) also?
In the same Surah, Allah states:
And with him there entered the prison two young men. One of them said, ‘I saw myself in a dream pressing wine.’ And the other said, ‘I saw myself in a dream carrying upon my head bread of which the birds are eating. Inform us of the interpretation thereof; for we see thee to be of the righteous.’(Chapter 12 verse 37)
These two people ask for the interpretation of the dream. They were in jail how can their dreams be physical? Yusuf(As) did not reply by saying no you are lying where is the bread or wine rather he interpreted the dreams by saying you will be saved and the bird one would be hanged. Even after he would be hanged the birds would not eat from his head. Allah explains this interpretation in the Quran and shows us don’t take these things physical.
In the same Surah in Verses 44-45 Allah states:
And the King said, ‘I see in a dream seven fat kine which seven lean ones eat up, and seven green ears of corn and seven others withered. O ye chiefs, explain to me the meaning of my dream if you can interpret a dream.’ They replied, ‘They are confused dreams, and we do not know the interpretation of such confused dreams.’ (Chapter 12 Verses 44-45)
The king also saw a vision where seven fat cows were being eaten by seven lean and seven green spikes of grain. Cows are not eaten by plants rather eat plants. Now do we say the king lied? Yusuf(As) heard this dream and did not say you lied rather he explained the dream. Allah did not mention the dream and say the king lied rather he explained the dream.
Allah also states:
When Allah showed them to thee in thy dream as few; and if He had shown them to thee as many, you would have surely faltered and would have disagreed with one another about the matter; but Allah saved you. Surely, He has full knowledge of what is in your breasts.(Chapter 8 Verse 44)
Allah showed the greatest prophet that these people were few in number. Now God forbid the ones who accused the vision of Ahmad(As) will they also accuse this? Allah has told us this dream in Quran that the things Allah shows in visions are not necessarily physical.
Another Hadith of Bukhari states:
Narrated Ubaidullah bin `Abdullah bin `Utba:
We were informed that Musailima Al-Kadhdhab had arrived in Medina and stayed in the house of the daughter of Al-Harith. The daughter of Al-Harith bin Kuraiz was his wife and she was the mother of `Abdullah bin ‘Amir. There came to him Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) accompanied by Thabit bin Qais bin Shammas who was called the orator of Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ). Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) had a stick in his hand then. The Prophet (ﷺ) stopped before Musailima and spoke to him. Musailima said to him, “If you wish, we would not interfere between you and the rule, on condition that the rule will be ours after you… The Prophet said, “If you asked me for this stick, I would not give it to you. I think you are the same person who was shown to me in a dream. And this is Thabit bin Al-Qais who will answer you on my behalf.” The Prophet (ﷺ) then went away. I asked Ibn `Abbas about the dream Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) had mentioned. Ibn `Abbas said, “Someone told me that the Prophet (ﷺ) said, “When I was sleeping, I saw in a dream that two gold bangles were put in my hands, and that frightened me and made me dislike them. Then I was allowed to blow on them, and when I blew at them, both of them flew. Then I interpreted them as two liars who would appear.’ One of them was Al-`Ansi who was killed by Fairuz in Yemen and the other was Musailima Al-Kadhdbab.”(Sahih Bukhari Vol. 5, Book 59, Hadith #662
Now we know that according to Islam wearing Gold is haram in Islam. Now will anti Ahmadis say that Muhammad(saw) did something haram God forbid? When Muhammad(saw) said this dream not a single sahabi mocked this dream or accused it. Rather Muhammad(saw) explained the vision and he explained the dream and interpreted it.
Narrated Ubaidullah bin `Abdullah bin `Utba: We were informed that Musailima Al-Kadhdhab had arrived in Medina and stayed in the house of the daughter of Al-Harith. 5, Book 59, Hadith #662)
Now this simply tells us that the prophecies in regards to the Dajjal are full of metaphorical speech and should not be taken literally. Authentic ahadith tell us that by reciting the first and last ten verses of Surah Kahf, we would be given protection from the Dajjal, and we have already outlined how these verses refer to the Christian clergy and the false doctrines they spread. The first and last ten verses both clearly warn us about the Christian nations which further prove that according to the Qur’an, Dajjal simply refers to the Christian clergies as the greatest Dajjal. Another important statement to keep in mind is that according the Ahadith, the greatest fitnah or tribulation is the Dajjal. The Holy Prophet Muhammad(ﷺ) states:
وعن عمران بن حصين رضي الله عنهما قال: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: “ما بين خلق آدم إلى قيام الساعة أمر أكبر من الدجال”. ((رواه مسلم)).
‘Imran bin Hussain (May Allah be pleased with them) reported:
I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying, “Between time of the creation of Adam and the Resurrection Day, there is nothing greater than the mischief of Dajjal (the Antichrist).” [Muslim]. (Riyad as Salihin Book 19, Hadith #7)
Now when we look at the Words of Allah, He Has clearly stated in the Qur’an that the greatest fitnah is the statement of claiming Allah has a son. Allah States:
And they say, ‘The Gracious God has taken unto Himself a son.’ Assuredly, you have done a most monstrous thing! The heavens might well-nigh burst thereat, and the earth cleave asunder, and the mountains fall down in pieces, Because they ascribe a son to the Gracious God. (Chapter 19 Verses 89-92)
Allah has further made it clear in the Holy Qur’an that never did Isa(as) claim to be God or tell the people to worship him. In fact this is proven by the bible itself as well. Allah states in the Holy Qur’an:
And when Allah will say, “O Jesus, son of Mary, didst thou say to men, ‘Take me and my mother for two gods beside Allah?’”, he will answer, “Holy art Thou. I could never say that to which I had no right. If I had said it, Thou wouldst have surely known it. Thou knowest what is in my mind, and I know not what is in Thy mind. It is only Thou Who art the Knower of hidden things. “I said nothing to them except that which Thou didst command me — ‘Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord.’ And I was a witness over them as long as I remained among them, but since Thou didst cause me to die, Thou hast been the Watcher over them; and Thou art Witness over all things. (Chapter 5 Verses 117-118)
Such statements and beliefs of Isa(as) God Forbid making a claimant of being God can only be attributed to the Anti Christ rather than Jesus(as) himself. The Qur’an does not mention the name of the Dajjal or Antichrist, however clearly shows us that the true meaning of the Dajjal and the greatest Dajjal are the Christian clergies. Another clear proof which shows us that the greatest Dajjal is indeed the Christian clergies, are all of the ahadith which state the Messiah would break the cross. It is rare where the Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw) mentions the killing of Dajjal in comparison to the breaking of the cross. Whenever the advent of the latter day messiah is mentioned, his main task is to break the cross which further proves that the breaking of the cross and killing of the Dajjal are similar and have the same meaning behind them in many ways. The fact that the first task of the messiah is to break the cross, shows the true importance of the cross being the strongest and greatest fitnah during that time. The hadith is as follows:
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “The Hour will not be established until the son of Mary descends amongst you as a just ruler, he will break the cross, kill the pigs, and abolish the Jizya tax. Money will be in abundance so that nobody will accept it (Sahih Bukhari Hadith #2476)
Why Is the Dajjal Called Masih?
The reason the Dajjal is also given the name the anti Christ or Masih Ad Dajjal is clearly because during the era of the Dajjal when it will be leading thousands astray, Allah would send a Prophet who would be the true Messiah and would invite to good and forbid evil, and spread the true message of Islam to the corners of the earth. Another reason for why the Dajjal is called Masih Al Dajjal is because the Dajjal will be spreading fitnah in the name of the Messiah which was a title given to Isa(as) over 2000 years ago and was indeed a sacred title. The giving of this title to Dajjal shows that the Dajjal would be doing work in the name of Jesus(as) but would totally twist his message and would spread falsehood in the name of the beautiful prophet of Allah. Isa(as) taught the Oneness of Allah just like all of the other prophets and never claimed to be God. Dajjal turned every prophet into a sinner and also attributed disgusting attributes to the Prophet, Jesus(as) which he himself had never claimed. The true Messiah taught that one receives rewards and punishment according to their own actions, while the Dajjal taught that the Messiah died for the sins of entire mankind, God Forbid. The real Messiah taught that a rich man cannot truly love God and reach the heavens while Dajjal teaches that money is everything, and only worries only about the materialistic treasures of this world, rather than the spiritual treasures.
The mention of Dajjal is still quite often recorded in the books of the Ahadtih, however they are not literal as proven earlier. They are full of metaphors. The Ahadith about Dajjal are in all of the major books of Ahadith and the companions who are narrators include Abu Bakr, Ali, Aishah, Sa’d Ibn Abi Waqqas, Abdullah Ibn Abbas, Abdullah Ibn Umar, Abdullah Ibn Amr, Abu Hurairah, Abu Sa’id Khudri, Anas Ibn Malik, Jabir, Hisham Ibn Amir, Samrah Ibn Jundab, Ubayy Ibn Ka’b, Sainah, Imran Ibn Husin, Nawas Ibn Sam’an, Umm Sharik, Fatima Bint Qais, Ubada Ibn samit, Abu Ubaidah Ibn Al Jarrah, Asma Bint Yazid, Mughirah Ibn Shu’bah and many more companions. All agree that the Holy Prophet(saw) had spoken about Dajjal many times which has shown us that such prophecies were indeed from the Prophet and we have clearly understood the true meaning of these prophecies and how they were fulfilled.
Dajjal, A Single Person or A Nation?
Firstly, one has to remember that the prophecies in regards to dajjal were visions of the Prophet Muhammad(saw), and as we have proven earlier already, visions are not taken literally. However, one should read what the Qur’an says as well and after doing so it becomes quite evident that dajjal is a group and nation rather than a single person. The Qur’an puts dajjal in the category of the Christian nations and shows us that there is no difference between it, and gog and magog. Firstly, let us make it clear that even if one was to see a person in a vision as dajjal, it would not mean its physically one person as other prophecies show it’s a group. There have been visions of this kind and also revelation to the Prophet Muhammad(saw) where a number is stated, but in reality that number is not the actual amount of the topic being discussed. For example, Allah States:
When Allah showed them to thee in thy dream as few; and if He had shown them to thee as many, you would have surely faltered and would have disagreed with one another about the matter; but Allah saved you. Surely, He has full knowledge of what is in your breasts.(Chapter 8 Verse 44)
While the Holy Prophet(saw) was on his way to Badr he was shown a dream where he saw the Meccan army few in number than they actually were (Jarir, x. 9)
Here we have a clear instance of where the number shown in the dream was not the actual number of how many people were in the army. This is similar with dajjal and when we look further into the prophecies they show us that dajjal is a nation. The Prophet Muhammad(Saw) stated:
“You will fight with them (the Arabs) and Allah will give you victory over them; then you will fight with Persia and Allah will give you victory over them; then you will fight with the Dajjal and Allah will give you victory over them” (Mishkat, Chapter Al Malahim)
The Holy Prophet(saw) has clearly mentioned the war with Dajjal in the manner of the other wars with Arabs, Persians and Romans who are all nations. This shows that the Dajjal is also a nation or group of nations.
The Qur’an also states :
O children of Israel! remember My favour which I bestowed upon you and that I exalted you above the peoples.(Chapter 2 Verse 48)
The Qur’an speaks in regards to the children of Israel as if Allah was Addressing a single person. The people who are being addressed here are the ones who were living at the time of the Holy Prophet(saw) but it is referring to events which took place at the time of around Moses(as). All these generations are spoken as if they were referring to a single person.
The Ahmadiyya interpretation of Dajjal is the only interpretation which is in line with the Qur’an and the Ahadith. Another important fact to keep in mind is that the Prophet(saw) told us that to stay away from Dajjal read the first and last ten verses of surah al Kahf and both mention the Christian nations and the nations of gog and magog which further prove that dajjal is indeed a group rather than a single person.
Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) states:
Dajjal is not the name of one man. According to the Arabic lexicon, Dajjal signifies a group of people who present themselves as trustworthy and pious, but are neither trustworthy nor pious. Rather, everything they say is full of dishonesty and deceit. This characteristic is to be found in the class of Christians known as the clergy. Another group is that of the philosophers and thinkers who are busy trying to assume control of machines, industries and the Divine scheme of things. They are the Dajjal because they deceive God’s creatures by their actions and tall claims as if they are partners in God’s dominion. The clergy are arrogating to themselves the status of Prophethood because they ignore the true heavenly Gospel and spread a perverted and corrupted version as the supposed translation of the Gospel. [Kitab-ul-Bariyyah, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 13, pp. 243-244, footnote]
He(as) also states:
“It should be remembered that in the lexicographical sense dajjal means a group of liars who mix up falsehood with truth and use fraud and deception to misguide the creatures of God” (Izala Auham, pg 488)
Meaning of the Ahadith In Regards to Dajjal
One of the hadith which is quoted most in regards to the dajjal is as follows:
‘They replied, ‘The Masih, Ad-Dajjal.’ “(Sahih al Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 55, Hadith #649)
Firstly it is important to note that the description of Jesus(as) who was sent to Bani Israel is of reddish complexion in Bukhari. The Prophet(saw) states:
Narrated Ibn `Abbas:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “I saw Moses, Jesus and Abraham (on the night of my Ascension to the heavens). Jesus was of red complexion, curly hair and a broad chest. Moses was of brown complexion, straight hair and tall stature as if he was from the people of Az-Zutt. (Sahih Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 55, Hadith #648)
This itself shows us that the latter day messiah would be someone else rather than the same messiah sent to Bani Israel. Now when we move on to the description of Dajjal here, the Prophet(saw) states: “I saw a man who had very curly hair and was blind in the right eye”
We firstly learn that Dajjal would be strongly built and he would be of white complexion and his hair would be short and curly. This is in reality the general appearance of the European nations today. The people are strongly built and their hair is short and curly to the point where today even the women have such hair. Their color is white and shining as well.
Furthermore, a hadith in regards to the dajjal states:
Anas b. Malik reported that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said:
Dajjal is blind of one eye and there is written between his eyes the word” Kafir”. He then spelled the word as k. f. r., which every Muslim would be able to read.(Sahih Muslim Hadith #2933 c)
Another characteristic which we learn about from the ahadith, in regards to the dajjal is that he would have Ka Fa Ra written in between his eyes and that every believer would be able to read this. This is of course metaphorical and anyone who pays attention would agree. Firstly how can one who is illiterate read these words on the forehead of dajjal? The Prophet(saw) saying they would be able to read it itself shows that this is not literal. The meaning of this is that the Christians and the other nations of the dajjal in the west would be doing such horrible actions in contradiction to Islam that anyone would be able to recognize their falsehood as if it was written on their forehead.
Another hadith states:
Narrated `Abdullah:
Ad-Dajjal was mentioned in the presence of the Prophet. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Allah is not hidden from you; He is not one-eyed,” and pointed with his hand towards his eye, adding, “While Al-Masih Ad- Dajjal is blind in the right eye and his eye looks like a protruding grape.”(Sahih Bukhari Volume 9, Book 93, Hadith #504)
The Holy Prophet(saw) has told us that the Dajjal would be blind in the right eye which shows that its left eye would be its main eye. This refers to the state of the Western nations who have no spirituality and are all about the materialistic aspects of this world. This quite accurately describes the western nations as they have no spirituality and only follow the path of materialism. The spiritual state of the Christian nations are representing the spiritual side of the Christians which the Prophet(saw) has described to be blind. The left eye of dajjal describes the success Dajjal will have in regards to wealth and other technology and materialistic movements. They have advanced in such a way which was not expected by anyone. For example the scientists have come up with technologies which help them find the treasures of the world and have weapons which can destroy the entire world. They have started altering the creation of Allah with things like genetic engineering and other forms of surgery. All of this falls under the left eye of the dajjal which is extremely sharp but does not help the person in any way. Imam Raghib has stated: “And it has been reported that the right eye of the Dajjal will be devoid of sight and this means that the dajjal will be bereft of praiseworthy moral qualities, such as knowledge, intelligence and humility”. The Ahmadiyya interpretation of Dajjal is the only interpretation which makes sense and is in line with the Qur’an and Ahadith.
There are many characteristics in the sayings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw) which are attributed to dajjal and sound divine.
Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) states: “The word one eyed is not to be taken literally. Allah says in the Holy Qur’an “Whoever is blind in this world will be blind in the hereafter” (Chapter 17 verse 73) Blindness here evidently means spiritual blindness. Thus the word under discussion will mean that Dajjal will have no spiritual sight, although his worldly sight will be very sharp; and along with it, he will discover such subtle methods resulting in such wonderful performances, that he will almost appear as one claiming Divinity. But he will have no spiritual vision whatsoever, as in the case with the people of America and Europe today who have carried the physical side of life to perfection” (Izala Auham, Page 401)
Rain of Dajjal
One characteristic of Dajjal is that hewould say to the heavens to send down rain and instruct the earth to give life to the dead. These are all metaphorical and cannot be taken literally as I have already explained that visions are not to be taken literally. We see these fulfillment in the technological aspect within the Christian nations of the West. They have advanced to an extent where it makes people lose the belief of the existence of God and it seems as if they are trying to take every role of Allah. Another way this is fulfilled is through cloud seeding. Planes which fly in the skies make it seem like it is raining through the effect of cloud seeding. According to the Qur’an these attributes cannot be physically given to the dajjal because Allah Has made it clear that these are only His attributes. Allah Says in the Qur’an:
Who made the earth a bed for you, and the heaven a roof, and caused water to come down from the clouds and therewith brought forth fruits for your sustenance. Set not up, therefore, equals to Allah, while you know.(Chapter 2 verse 23)
Allah makes it clear that it is He who sends down the rain and this is an attribute which we cannot ascribe to anyone else.
Paradise and Hell of Dajjal
Another attribute which is given to the Dajjal is that it would bring heaven and hell and what seems as heaven would be hell and what is portrayed as hell would be heaven. This prophecy in regards to the Dajjal is describing the preaching of the Dajjal which makes its religion like Christianity and its policies seem to be the truth and makes one seem that they will achieve heaven, but in reality are being lead to hell. The people who reject this are made to seem as if they are going to be the people of hell, but in reality will be lead to heaven if they do not follow the shirk concepts of Christianity and other false beliefs of dajjal. The jannah in these ahadith refer to a life of comfort and luxury and the hellfire refers to not having these materialistic benefits. It shows us that one who follows dajjal can easily live a luxurious life but one who rejects the dajjal will live a simple life of a Muslim and will not have the benefit of the materialistic aspects which Dajjal bring. It compares the Muslim nations to the Christian nations. Dajjal has no spiritual benefits but convinces to the people that what they bring will lead to paradise but in reality it is the complete opposite and leads to the hell fire.
Mountains of Bread and A Stream of Water
The ahadith state that the dajjal would carry mountains of bread with a stream of water. This refers to the nations of the west who control the food supply of the entire world. It is not distributed throughout the world in any fair manner as we see poverty increasing till today. The west has much more of a food supply than the rest of the world which leaves many countries with little to no food, causing deaths on a daily basis because of starvation. The Dajjal only gives this food and water to the nations of the west and forgets about the rest of the countries.
The Speed of the Dajjal
A hadith of Sahih Muslim states:
We said: Allah’s Messenger, how quickly would he walk upon the earth? Thereupon he (ﷺ) said: Like cloud driven by the wind.(Sahih Muslim 2937 a)
Now what can be something that moves quicker than the wind? An airplane what the Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw) was telling his companions about, and more ahadith will be shown which further prove that it referred to an airplane. It is also stated that the Holy Prophet(saw) stated “The earth will be rolled for him” which means that his movement would be so fast that the world would seem as if it has shrunken because of how quick one can travel from one place of the world to the other. It is also stated that “He will hold the cloud in his right hand” (Kanzul Ummal, Volume 7, Hadith #2998) This refers to his fast moving above the clouds and the Holy Prophet(saw) also stated that he would be jumping between heaven and the earth (Abu Dawud) which further proves his fast movement with the use of modern day technology. The hadith further states that “He will overreach the sun in its setting place”. In todays day and age it is possible to move faster than the apparent movement of the sun. One can fly from Lahore to Karachi in a matter of hours. We are also told “will find the sea ankle deep for him” and there is a fulfillment of this prophecy in the movements of submarines and other transportation which takes below under water.
Another hadith states: “The dajjal will make his appearance on a white donkey, whose two ears will be seventy yards apart (Mishkat ch. Al Dajjal) and “Underneath him will be a white donkey, the length of each of his two ears will be thirty years and between one leg of his donkey the other will be the distance of a day and nights journey (Kanzul ummahl, volume 7, Hadith #2998)
Now this donkey of dajjal should not be taken literally. The reason the Prophet(saw) used the word donkey is so the companions would understand which it through their own way of transportations. The Holy Prophet(saw) made it clear that this would not be a real donkey as he described its ears being seventy yards apart which are not seen in the donkeys. The hadith also states that it would be white or shining color which is also not present in donkeys. The description makes complete sense for an airplane or railway train. The part where it is mentioned that one step would cover a journey of a day and a night refers to the distance which can be accomplished by walk in the amount of 24 hours, is a simple step for the dajjal because of its donkey. This further explains how Dajjal would use technology in such a way where it would forget about its true creator and would also be arrogant rather than humble.
Dajjal and Its Treasures
The next hadith which will be discussed is as follows:
“And he will pass through a wilderness and will say to it: Bring forth thy treasures. So its treasures will follow him as the bees follow their queen” (Mishkat Ch. Al-Dajjal)
This hadith is basically referring to Europe and how easily they find the treasures of the earth. Wherever there is a treasure hidden, Europe would be the first to always find such treasures whether they be gold, silver, or any other type of treasure. All of the benefits which the treasures bring, are kept by Europe while the rest of the world is deprived of the benefits of these treasures found by them. There was a lot of gold around the world but in reality Europe has claimed majority of it and left the countries to be poor. This is yet another accurate prophecy of our master Muhammad(saw).
Easy Life of Dajjal
The life of the ones who would follow dajjal would of course be much easier than the truthful people who follow Islam. The reason to this is because the Dajjal has a lot of wealth and the people who have accepted Christianity are also benefitted with this wealth in many ways. There is a lot of wealth which Europe and America has from around the world, and because of this, the people who follow the religion of Dajjal are also rewarde with higher salaries. This is a clear fulfillment of “with him will be mountains of bread, and people will be in distress except those who follow him”. In today’s age, one has to make friends with the Dajjal and live side to side with these people to gain a good career. The Prophet(saw) stated “Whoever follows him, he gives him to eat, but also makes of him an unbeliever” (Kanz al Ummal Volume 7 #2104) The Dajjal is so strong in todays age that the Muslims have even started to follow their ways which include things like dancing to their music, and other sinful behavior. The way of the Dajjal has tempted many Muslims and non Muslims to fall on the wrong path and ruin their relationship with Allah
Strength of the Jews at the Time of the Dajjal
The Holy Prophet(saw) made it clear that the Dajjal would have seventy thousand Jews with him and most of those who will follow him would indeed be the Jews and that there would be an army of Jews with him. However, it is not said that Dajjal itself would be a Jew, rather the Christian nations are said to be Dajjal. The expression of seventy thousand only means a large amount of people and this is normal in Arabic. This shows that a large number of Jewish people will help the Dajjal and work with it. When we look at our world today the Jewish people are helping the British and the Western Powers with their horrible acts of things like colonizing Palestine. Many rich people today around the world are the Jews which further shows that they are following the footsteps of the Dajjal.
Men Resembling Women, Women Resembling Men
There are many ahadith which shows us that the women would begin to appear as men while men would begin to appear as women. For example, the Prophet(saw) stated: “And the women will assume the appearance of men and the men will assume the appearance of women” (Kanz-al-Ummal volume 7 #2998)
This prophecy is also already fulfilled as we see that in todays age we see men daily who are dressed as if they are women and we also see women daily who in todays age dress as if they are men.
Cure of Diseases
The Holy Prophet Muhammad(Saw) stated in regards to dajjal “And he will cure the blind and the lepers and will revive the dead” (Kanzul Ummal Volume 7 #2080)
Firstly it is clear from the Qur’an that when someone dies, they will never return to this world. This is also clearly mentioned in the Ahadith of the Prophet Muhammad(saw). Here are some examples:
Firstly Allah clearly states that there is a barrier until the day of resurrection after one dies:
Until, when death comes to one of them, he says entreating, ‘My Lord, send me back,That I may do righteous deeds in the life that I have left behind.’ Never, it is but a word that he utters. And behind them is a barrier until the day when they shall be raised again.(Chapter 23, Verse 100-101)
Allah also states showing us No one will return after death:
And it is an inviolable law for a township which We have destroyed that theyshall not return.(Chapter 21 Verse 96)
Allah Again Has Stated:
“Or lest it should say, when it sees the punishment, ‘Would that there were for me a return to the world, I would then be among those who do good!’”God will answer, ‘Aye, there came to thee My Signs, but thou didst treat them as lies, and thou wast arrogant, and thou wast of the disbelievers.’(Chapter 39 Verses 59-60)
Again Allah Explains:
How can you disbelieve in Allah? When you were without life, He gave you life, and then He will cause you to die, then restore you to life, and then to Him shall you be made to return.(Chapter 2 Verse 29)
Allah Further States:
Say, ‘It is Allah Who gives you life, then causes you to die; then He will gather you together unto the Day of Resurrection about which there is no doubt. But most men know not.’(Chapter 45 Verse 27)
Allah Has beautifully explained all our life cycles. He states:
He said, ‘Therein shall you live, and therein shall you die, and therefrom shall you be brought forth.’(Chapter 7 Verse 26)
In this context the statement of giving life to the dead simply shows that there would be a lot of cures to diseases which will seem as if incurable and it will be like life has been given to the dead. It is quite true that the technology has advanced to a level where a lot of diseases are cured. This is also the reason the live given to the dead is mentioned with two disabilities.
Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) states:
“How can I make the blasphemous statement, that the one eyed Dajjal, like God Himself, will give life to the dead by virtue of his own power, and will show manifest signs of the powers of divinity? In my opinion the word dajjal denotes some flourishing nations and his donkey may mean the railway train which one finds running for thousands of miles in the countries of the east and the west (Izalah Auham Page 478)
Evil of Dajjal
It is clear from the ahadith that the way dajjal would take over will not really be by forcing people, rather tempt the world with the power it will have and misguide them through the provisions of this world. A hadith states:
“Whoever hears about the Dajjal, let him keep away from him. For by God, it will so happen that a man will come to him believing that he is a believer, but he will become his follower on account of the doubts he will raise in his mind”(Kanzul-Ummal volume 7, Hadith #2057)
It is quite clear that the way Dajjal is taking over, is not something the world was ever used to. The western nations are the strongest nations in history and their evil drags people away from the belief of God. One clear example is education, which can be a source of guidance but as well as misguidance. There are courses in education for example which are about Islam but make Islam look like a false religion, God forbid. They themselves believe in a God but make others faith in vain through their false ideologies. Many listen to what the Christian nations also say and are brainwashed because of their false beliefs, which include a man dying for their sins and giving them a false guarantee of salvation which drags them into this corrupt belief.
Lake of Tiberias
It is clear that according to the Qur’an there is no difference between the Dajjal and Gog and Magog, and they fall into the same category. When speaking of Gog and Magog Allah reverts to the mention of the Christian nations which also shows that they are one and the same.
Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) states:
“A similar view should be taken of Gog and Magog. These are two old nations of the world, who could not openly overpower others in the previous ages and were found in a weak state. But Allah says that both of them will emerge from this obscurity in the latter days. In other words, they will manifest themselves in their glorious power. Thus He says in the chapter, the Cave “And we Shall let some of them surge against the others(Chapter 18 Verse 100). That is to say, that these two nations after having overpowered others, will attack one another” (Izalah auham, Page 508)
According to the bible it is clear that Gog and Magog are none other than the Western Nations. Ahadith make it clear that Gog and Magog consists of people just like us which is sadly misinterpreted by many people today.
It is said in the Ahadith “Verily Gog and Magog are of the progeny of Adam”(Kanzul Ummal Volume 7, #2158)
Another hadith states that Allah would reveal to the Messiah that: “Verily I have created some of my servants whom no one can destroy but Myself” (Kanzul Ummal Volume 7 #3021) Then again in Hadith #3032 it is stated more explicitly that the Gog and Magog are indeed from the progeny of Adam.
Another hadith states:
“They will drink the water of the world so much so that when some of them will pass by a stream they will drink all that is in it and leave it dry”(Kanzul Ummal Volume 7 #2157)
Another hadith similarly states that Gog and Magog will cross the gulf of Tiberius and they will drink all of the water in it (Kanzul Ummal, Volume 7 #3021) and Tamim Dari is asked about the Gulf of Tiberius as well : Tell me about the Gulf of Tiberius… Is there any water in it? (Kanzul Ummal Volume 7 #2027)
This shows that Dajjal and Gog and Magog are both the same thing and their drinking of the water refers to them taking control of all provisions of life, as water is the source of life. A further interpretation of this also is that they would take away the spirituality from the people to a point where they will lack communion with Allah, as water also refers to revelation. Furthermore, it is important to note that the lake of Tiberius is now actually at its lowest rate when it comes to the amount of water which is left in it.
Both Dajjal and Gog and Magog are clearly a part of the same ideology and fall into the same category. Their descriptions are also the same and both are after the control over the world, while lacking a spiritual life. It is also clear that ahadith show that no one would have power over them or the power to stand against them. They would spread all over spreading mischief and people would fall for their ideologies.
Dajjal Recognized by A Muslim
The ahadith in regards to the dajjal make it seem as if any intelligent person would be able to right away identify what the mystery behind Dajjal would be. If all of the statements of Dajjal having one eye, and having kafir written on its forehead which any man literate or illiterate would be able to read, was all physical, then this would definitely be the case. Any man would then be able to identify dajjal but this is truly not the case. If his donkey was also literal who would not be able to identify him? But in reality a hadith states:
“A person from among the believers would say : I will go up to this man and see whether or not he is the person against whom the Prophet of God had issued a warning”
Another hadith states:
Narrated Ubaidullah bin `Abdullah bin `Utba: We were informed that Musailima Al-Kadhdhab had arrived in Medina and stayed in the house of the daughter of Al-Harith.
Narrated Ibn `Umar:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said to Ibn Saiyad, “I have kept for you a secret.” Ibn Saiyad said, “Ad-Dukh.” The Prophet said, “Keep quiet, for you cannot go beyond your limits (or you cannot exceed what has been foreordained for you).” On that, `Umar said (to the Prophet (ﷺ) ), “Allow me to chop off his neck!” The Prophet said, “Leave him, for if he is he (i.e., Ad-Dajjal), then you will not be able to overcome him, and if he is not, then you gain no good by killing him.”(Sahih Al Bukhari Volume 8, Book 77, Hadith #615)
The Holy Prophet(saw) made it clear that even Umar(ra) would not be able to overcome dajjal as it was the mission of the latter day messiah. In fact Umar(ra) was not able to identify dajjal at first as he thought dajjal was ibn Saiyad during the first revelations in regards to dajjal when not much information was known about Dajjal. Ibn Saiyad did not have kafir written on his forehead literally and nor did he have a blind eye either which further proves these are metaphorical traits.
Tamim Dari’s Vision
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) once delayed the congregational night prayer
He came out and said: The talk of Tamim ad-Dari detained me. He transmitted it to me from a man who was on of of the islands of the sea. All of a sudden he found a woman who was trailing her hair. He asked: Who are you? She said: I am the Jassasah. Go to that castle. So I came to it and found a man who was trailing his hair, chained in iron collars, and leaping between Heaven and Earth. I asked: Who are you? He replied: I am the Dajjal (Antichrist). Has the Prophet of the unlettered people come forth now? I replied: Yes. He said: Have they obeyed him or disobeyed him? I said: No, they have obeyed him. He said: That is better for them. (Sunan Abi Dawud 4325)
Firstly it is important that this was not a event rather a vision which the companion of Muhammad(Saw) had seen. Its clear that it was a vision by the fact that Dajjal asks about the Holy Prophet(Saw) addressing him as the illiterate as to what he was involved in at that time. The companions replied that he has left Makkah and reached Madinah. The question is that how did this dajjal know that the prophet(saw) had already come into this world? It is quite evident that he was not given revelation. Some questions that arise are who tied the dajjal? Could Jassasah not release him? This Hadith shows us that dajjal lives on some sort of island, this island is far from Syria (months journey). This also shows us that dajjal did exist since this narration which shows that it is already here and proves Ahmadiyyat’s view on dajjal to be accurate. This clearly refers to the western Island which is the homeland of dajjal. Its also proves Christianity to be dajjal since the spy tells the man to go to the church which is a clear symbol of Christianity. Another interpretation is that it simply refers to the Islands where the Christians are basically chained into their churches and are trying to spread the false belief of Jesus(as) being divine.
The Place of the Dajjal
Many sadly believe that Dajjal would appear in Syria but when we look at the ahadith of the Holy Prophet(saw), we are given a different message. The Holy Prophet(saw) made it clear that dajjal would appear in the east. He (saw) states:
“Nay, He will appear in the East; nay, he will appear in the East, nay he will appear in the East” (Kanzul Ummal Volume 7, #2988)
It is also stated that when the Dajjal was mentioned the Holy Prophet(saw) pointed nearly twenty times to the East (Kanzul Ummal Volume 7 #2991)
We are told that the area of the Dajjal is an island in the west, but we are also told that it will manifest in the East. This itself shows that that the dominance of the Dajjal will harm the people in the East. According to the ahadith it is also clear that Dajjal did indeed exist at the time of the Prophet(saw) but during those days its hands and feet were shackled. During a time the Euripean nations were confined to their own lands but now in todays age they are taking possession of all of the countries and it is also because of this that Dajjal is spoken in relation to the claim of divinity because of its control over the world.
The Promised Messiah and Killing of the Dajjal
It is clear that the one who disclose the identity of the Dajjal in our time was no other than Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) of Qadian, who stated “this is the Dajjal about whom the Holy Prophet spoke”. Some bring up the allegation, that how did Ahmad(as) kill the dajjal? The hadith books have clearly stated that the messiah would kill the dajjal but the question is what does this killing really mean? It is clear that the dajjal is not a single person, rather a group of nations, so the question of killing all of the nations would make no sense as the Qur’an is clear that disbelievers will remain till the day of judgement. Allah states:
Then, because of their breaking of their covenant, and their denial of the Signs of Allah, and their seeking to kill the Prophets unjustly, and their saying: ‘Our hearts are wrapped in covers,’ — nay, but Allah has sealed them because of their disbelief, so they believe not but little —(Chapter 4 Verse 156)
We were just speaking in context. Now I ask the non Ahmadis whether they have read the ayah of the Jews and Christians believing in it in context? Just four ayahs before Allah has made it clear that from the Jews they do not believe but little. A minority of them believe. Allah has sealed them because of their disbelief which caused only a little of them believe. This leaves no room left for one to claim the entire mankind will follow a prophet whom Qur’an says has already died.
The next ayah is chapter 3 verse 56 which despite proving the death of Isa(as) also proves that the disbelievers would remain till the day of judgment:
When Allah said, ‘O Jesus, I will cause thee to die a natural death and will exalt thee to Myself, and will clear thee from the charges of those who disbelieve, and will place those who follow thee above those who disbelieve, until the Day of Resurrection; then to Me shall be your return, and I will judge between you concerning that wherein you differ. (Chapter 3 verse 56)
Allah makes it clear that he will place those who follow Isa(as) above those who disbelieve until the day of resurrection which shows us once again that disbelievers will remain till the day of judgment.
Now here are two ayahs which mention both the Christians and the Jews by name, that they will indeed exist till the day of judgement:
And from those also who say, ‘We are Christians,’ We took a covenant, but they too have forgotten a good part of that with which they were exhorted. So We have caused enmity and hatred among them till the Day of Resurrection. And Allah will soon let them know what they have been doing.(Chapter 5 verse 15)
This ayah has clearly stated that Allah has taken a covenant from the Christians and has caused enmity and hatred among them till the day of resurrection. Now for them to have enmity and hatred they have to exist so how can one say they will have hate and enmity till day of judgment but not be in existence? This is another contradiction which the non Ahmadi interpretation causes which cannot be accepted.
Again Allah states:
And the Jews say, ‘The hand of Allah is tied up.’ Their own hands shall be tied up and they shall be cursed for what they say. Nay, both His hands are wide open; He spends how He pleases. And what has been sent down to thee from thy Lord will most surely increase many of them in rebellion and disbelief. And We have cast among them enmity and hatred till the Day of Resurrection. Whenever they kindle a fire for war, Allah extinguishes it. And they strive to create disorder in the earth, and Allah loves not those who create disorder. (Chapter 5 verse 65)
This ayah is also really clear and states that in regards to the Jews Allah has caused enmity and hatred till the day of resurrection. Once again Jews have to be present for there to be hatred and animosity amongst them. The verse next ayah Allah states:
And if the People of the Book had believed and been righteous, We would surely have removed from them their evils and We would surely have admitted them into Gardens of Bliss.(Chapter 5 Verse 66)
Allah has clearly stated that if the People of the book Had believed and been righteous. This shows that they will not believe till qiyamah nor be righteous.
Again Allah has stated:
And those who disbelieve will not cease to be in doubt about it until the Hour comes suddenly upon them or there comes to them the punishment of a destructive day.(Chapter 22 Verse 56)
This shows us that the enemies of Isa(as) and the ones who believe in him will always exist rather than all be killed as some non Ahmadis sadly believe. The killing of the dajjal is metaphorical and not literal. All of the descriptions of dajjal themselves are metaphorical. The heaven of the dajjal is not in actuality heaven. His fire is not actual hell fire, and nor is his giving life to the dead or mountains of bread or even his donkey literal, rather all metaphorical. Why should we than only take the killing to be literal? The killing is also of the same nature.
A verse of the Qur’an shows us that in reality death and life are with the proofs one has. Allah states:
When you were on the nearer bank of the valley, and they were on the farther bank, and the caravan was below you. And if you had to make a mutual appointment, you would have certainly differed with regard to the appointment. But the encounter was brought aboutthat Allah might accomplish the thing that was decreed; so that he who had already perished through a clear Sign might perish, and he who had already come to life through a clear Sign might live. And certainly Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.(Chapter 8 Verse 43)
The Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw) also made it clear that the dajjal would be killed through arguments and proofs rather than a physical killing. He (Saw) states:
“When he (Dajjal) makes his appearance and I am in your midst, I will overpower him by arguments, and if,when he makes his appearance, I am not in your midst, every one should argue with him” (Kanzul Ummal, Volume 7, #2076)
He (saw) also states:
“So when he makes his appearance and I am in your midst, I will overpower him with arguments on behalf of every Muslim; but if he appears after me, everyone should argue with him on his own behalf” (Kanzul Ummal, Volume 7, #2025, #2079)
This clearly proves that the killing of Dajjal would indeed be by arguments which will destroy its entire ideology. The messiah killing the Dajjal was indeed the same way the Prophet(saw) said he would overpower Dajjal, which is with arguments. This meaning of qatl is also available in the Arabic lexions. It is stated in Nihaya which is a famous dictionary of hadith that the meaning of “qatala Allahu Sa’d-an (my God kill S’ad) refers to may God ward off his mischief. The same is said in regards to the hadith of when there are two present khalifas at once, kill the latter one. Many believe this to mean that reject his claims rather than physically kill the person. The killing of Dajjal cannot mean physically kill all the Christian nations as the Qur’an has already told us that they will remain till the day of judgment and nor would such an interpretation make sense.
It is also clear from the ahadith that Dajjal would be causing mischief so it is obvious that it is the mischief which needs to be stopped as a hadith tells us “By God a man will come to Dajjal confident that he is a Muslim, but he will become his follower because of the doubts he will raise in his mind” and “whoever says, Allah is my Lord, and Continues to do so till he dies, God will keep him safe from the mischief of the Dajjal” (Kanzul Ummal Volume 7 #2080)
Another hadith states: “verily, God will keep a believer safe through the same thing with which he saves the angels, the glorification of Him”Kanzul Ummah Volume 7 #2090)
This clearly shows that a believer will be safe from the troubles and fraud of dajjal if he follows Allah and glorifies Him. The real way one is saved from Dajjal is indeed if they continue to say Allah is their lord, as this way they can never even think about the beliefs of the Christians for a split second. This shows that the Messiahs duty of killing the dajjal would also be to refute his claims and safeguard the people from the arguments of the Christians as Ahmad(as) beautifully did.
Sun Rising From The West
Many non Ahmadi Muslims have the misconception that as Ahmadi Muslims we deny the sun rising from the west. This is totally incorrect. Ahmadi Muslims wholeheartedly believe in the prophecy in regards to the sun rising from the west, but in a way where it would not contradict the Qur’an. Allah Has Clearly Stated in the Holy Qur’an many times, that never will we find a change in His Law:
Such is the law of Allah that has been in operation before; and thou shalt not find any change in the law of Allah.(Chapter 48 Verse 24)
Out of arrogance in the earth and evil plotting. But the evil plot encompasses none but the authors thereof. Do they then look for anything but God’s way ofdealing with the peoples of old? But thou wilt never find any change in the way of Allah; nor wilt thou ever find any alteration in the way of Allah.(Chapter 35 Verse 44)
Such has been the way of Allah in the case of those who passed away before, and thou wilt never find a change in the way of Allah(Chapter 33 Verse 63)
So set thy face to the service of religion as one devoted to God. And follow the nature made by Allah — the nature in which He has created mankind. There is no altering the creation of Allah. That is the right religion. But most men know not(Chapter 30 Verse 31)
This has been Our way with Our Messengers whom We sent before thee; and thou wilt not find any change in Our way.(Chapter 17 Verse 78)
It is clear from the Holy Qur’an that there will never be a change in the Law of Allah. This itself proves that the Sun would not physically rise from the West as the Law of Allah is that It would rise from the East only. Furthermore, Allah has made it clear that the Sun only rises from the East and so has Prophet Abraham(as). Allah states in the Holy Qur’an:
Hast thou not heard of him who disputed with Abraham about his Lord, because Allah had given him kingdom? When Abraham said, ‘My Lord is He Who gives life and causes death,’ he said, ‘I also give life and cause death.’ Abraham said, ‘Well, Allah brings the sun from the East; bring it thou from the West.’ Thereupon the infidel was dumbfounded. And Allah guides not the unjust people.(Chapter 2 Verse 259)
Allah has made it clear in the Holy Qur’an that He only raises the Sun from the East. How can any Muslim now believe that the Sun would physically rise from the West and cause a contradiction in the Qur’an, God Forbid? Can one really believe the Words of Allah would have any contradiction? Furthermore, this would only prove Madruk who was their god to be a true god. Abraham(as) used this argument to prove the truthfulness of Allah, that Our Creator brings the Sun from the East can you bring it from the West? This made the infidel dumbfounded according to the Qur’an which further proves the Sun will Always rise from the East in the physical sense. However, this does not mean that metaphorically the sun would not rise from the west. Ahmadi Muslims believe in this prophecy and believe it to be fulfilled as well. Now its clear that we cannot make this prophecy literal. Qur’an has made it clear that the sun will always rise from the East and this is the law of Allah which will never be changed.
Allah states in the Qur’an in regards to the Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw):
And as a Summoner unto Allah by His command, and as a Lamp that givesbright light.(Chapter 33 Verse 47)
Now the meaning of the sun rising from the west, in reality refers to Islam and the name of the Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw) rising from the west. If we look at the time of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as), this was the age Islam in reality spread to the west and this was when the name of the Prophet Muhammad(saw) was shining more than ever before because of the advancements we had in regards to getting a message across. The Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw) is called سِرَاجًا مُنِيرًا which shows this refers to him rather than a physical sun.
Breath of The Messiah
One example of a hadith used for the killing of the dajjal states that Dajjal would melt as salt melts away in water. This itself shows that the killing of it would not be physical. Another statement is that anyone who smells the breath of the messiah will die and the breath of the messiah would go as far as the sight of the dajjal goes. This is also metaphorical and beautifully explained by Ahmad(as). He states:
“Remember, it was necessary for large number of people to die at the time of the Messiah and it was also destined that plagues and earthquakes should strike. This is the meaning of the Hadith wherein it is written that people would perish with the breath of the Messiah, and his killing breath would work as far as his eyes would see. It is wrong to infer from this hadith that the Messiah would be a witch that would remove people’s hearts just by looking at them. What it really means is that wherever his pure breath–i.e. his teachings–would spread in the world, people would deny him, reject him, and abuse him; so much so, that their rejection shall become a cause of chastisement for them. This hadith indicates that the Promised Messiah(As) will be vehemently opposted, with the result that a great many people shall die in the land, the most severe earthquakes shall take place and peace shall disappear altogether. It would otherwise be irrational to think that pious and righteous people should be subjected to various punishments without any reason. This is the reason why, even in the past, ignorant people have considered prophets (may the Peace and blessings of Allah be upon them) to be bearers of misfortune and have blamed them for what were actually the consequences of their own misdeeds. The fact, however, is that it is not the prophet who brings punishment; rather it is the fact that people have become deserving of punishment that brings a prophet as a final warning and produces the necessity for his advent. Severe punishment never takes place without the advent of a prophet, as God says in the Holy Quran : We do not punish a people until a prophet has been sent to them (Chapter 17 verse 16) Why then is it that the epidemic of the plague is devouring the country on the one hand, and terrifying earthquakes are giving no respite on the other? O heedless ones, look around! May be a prophet has been established by God and it is him who you have rejected. It is already the twenty fourth year of the Hijri Century. Why, without the advent of a prophet, are you being afflicted with this calamity which takes away your friends and loved ones each year and brings sorrow to your hearts? There must be a reason, why do you not look for it? And why do you not reflect upon the verse which I have Quoted above, in which God Almighty says:We do not punish a people until a prophet has been sent to them. That is we never send an extraordinary punishment upon a people until we have sent a messenger to fully convey our message” (Divine Manifestations, page 9-11)
“It has been destined from the very beginning that the Promised Messiah would first appear in an awe-striking form, and, as far as his eyes would see, people would perish with his breath. This means that that will not be the time for jihad of fighting with the sword, it will be the spiritual attention of the Messiah which will work like a sword, and awe-inspiring signs like plagues, earthquakes ad other calamities shall descend from heaven. Then God’s Messiah shall look upon mankind with compassion, and the heavens too shall show signs of compassion, and people shall be blessed with long lives and abundant provisions shall come out of the earth” (Divine Manifestations, footnote of page 8)
Another hadith of Ahmad Ibn Hanbal states that the Muslims will kill the dajjal. What this means is that the proof and arguments of the messiah would be so amazing that his followers will also have the ability to kill dajjal through his knowledge and this is exactly what we see today, even in the sunni ummah. Scholars like Ahmad Deedat, Zakir Naik and Shabir Ally have copied many arguments of Ahmad(as) and use it to overcome the Christians but yet have much trouble as they reject many of the teachings of the Promised Messiah(as). One small example is of Shabir Ally known to be one of the greatest scholars of the sunni ummah against Christianity, yet believes that even the prophets sinned God Forbid.
Dajjal to Be killed, Not Gog and Magog
It is clear that the name Dajjal and Gog and Magog refer to the same type of people. They are called Dajjal in regards to their deception and misguidance of a religion aspect and called Gog and Magog when referring to their political power. It is clear from the ahadith that they state dajjal would be killed but do not say gog and magog would be killed. A hadith states:
“It will be revealed to the messiah that I have raised some of My servants, whom no one will be able to kill but Myself” (Kanzul Ummal volume 7, #3021)
Another hadith states:
“Allah would reveal to Jesus these words: I have brought forth from amongst My servants such people against whom none would be able to fight; you take these people safely to Tur. And then Allah would send Gog and Magog and they would swarm down from every slope.”(Sahih Muslim 2937 a)
Now it is interesting that Allah has given the Messiah the ability to kill the dajjal but for Gog and Magog He Has Clearly Stated that no one would be able to overcome it.This further proves that the killing of Dajjal would not mean literal killing, rather through arguments and proofs as Allah has made it clear that no one can overcome Gog and Magog. This shows that the messiah would not come for a physical war or to kill the disbelievers. This shows that the gog and magog would continue to spread deception and no one would be able to overcome this either in its entirety. The Messiah did indeed put an end to their religious deception and fraud, however putting an end to their political powers was not a sign of the messiah nor was it said that the messiah would do this. Rather, Allah made it clear that no one would be able to overcome them.
More Statements of Ahmad(as) in Regards to Dajjal and Gog and Magog
The word Dajjal has two connotations: First, it signifies a group which supports falsehood and works with cunning and deceit. Secondly, it is the name of the Satan who is the father of all falsehood and corruption.(Haqiqatul Wahi, Ruhani Khazain Volume 22, page 326)
The Dajjal mentioned in the Ahadith is described by the Holy Qur’an as the Satan, whom it quotes as saying: ‘He (Satan) pleaded in the presence of God to be granted respite until those who are dead of heart are revived. God said: You are given respite till that time.’ (7:15-16) Thus the Dajjal who is mentioned in the Ahadith is none other than the Satan who will be slain in the latter days. This is recorded in the book of Daniel as well as in some Ahadith. As Christianity is the perfect manifestation of Satan, Surah Al-Fatihah makes no mention of Dajjal, but prescribes supplication for refuge against the evil of the Christians. If the Dajjal had been some other mischief maker, the Holy Qur’an would not have enjoined us to seek refuge against the mischief of Dallin [those who have gone astray] but for security against the Dajjal. The verse mentioned above does not mean the day of resurrection, because Satan will remain alive only so long as men are alive. Satan does not operate on his own, but through his agents, who are the people who deify a human being. Being a group of people, they are called Dajjal as in Arabic Dajjal also connotes a group. If Dajjal is taken to mean someone other than the misguided preachers of Christianity, this would entail a contradiction, because the very Ahadith which indicate that the Dajjal will prevail over the earth in the latter days, also indicate that in those days the power of the church will overwhelm all religions. This contradiction can only be solved by affirming that the two are one and the same.(Haqiqatul Wahi, Ruhani Khazain Volume 22, page 41)
Christian Priests As Dajjal
Dajjal in fact is none other than the people known as Christian missionaries and European philosophers. They act like the two jaws of the Promised Dajjal with which he devours people’s faith like a python. First it is the common and ignorant people who get caught in the wiles of the missionaries; and then, those who happen to escape their clutches being disgusted with the disgraceful and false beliefs, are caught in the net of the European philosophers. I see that the common people are more vulnerable to the lies of the clergy, whereas the intellectual ones are more susceptible to the falsehood spread by the philosophers.(Kitabul Bariyyah Ruhani Khazain Volume 13, page 252-253)
There have been many Dajjals and there may be more to come. But the greatest Dajjal, whose deceit is so vile in God’s estimation that heaven might well be rent asunder by it, is the group which deifies a mere human being. God Almighty has set forth in the Holy Qur’an various kinds of deceit practised by the Jews, the Polytheists and others, but does not single out any which might cause heaven to be rent asunder. Therefore, we should not designate any group as the greatest Dajjal but the one so designated by God in His Holy Word. It would be most unfair and cruel to try to find someone else as the greatest Dajjal. On no account can we justify the existence of a greater Dajjal than the present day Christian clergy. Whereas God has designated them in His Holy Word as the greatest Dajjal, it would be the height of faithlessness to consider anyone else to be the greatest Dajjal in contrast to the Word of God. Had there been any possibility at any other time of the existence of such a Dajjal, God Almighty, Whose knowledge transcends the past, the present and the future, would have designated him and not these people as the great Dajjal. The sign of the great Dajjal, which we can clearly deduce from the Hadith of Bukhari “Yakziru Saleeb” is that the great Dajjal would deify Jesus and would attribute salvation to the cross. It is a matter of great delight for the knowledgeable that on this point the definitive verses of the Holy Qur’an and authentic Ahadith are both in agreement. Thus, the truth about this controversial issue has come to the open. The Holy Qur’an unambiguously designates the Christian clergy as the greatest Dajjal and terms their lies to be so great as could destroy heaven and earth. And the Hadith also specifies that the true sign of the Promised Messiah would be that he would break the cross and slay the great Dajjal. Our stupid Maulavis do not seem to reflect that the main objective of the Promised Messiah is the breaking of the cross and slaying of the great Dajjal. The Holy Qur’an has foretold that the great deception and mischief whereby the order of the entire universe might be upset and the world brought to an end is the mischief of the Christian missionaries. From this it clearly follows that there is no greater Dajjal than the clergy and that he who, having witnessed the revelation of this great mischief, waits for some other, denies the truthfulness of the Holy Qur’an. Moreover, as the literal meaning of the word Dajjal is a group that pollutes the earth with its deceit, and, according to the Ahadith, the singular sign of the great Dajjal would be his advocacy of the cross, if someone still fails to consider the Christian clergy as the great Dajjal, he is indeed spiritually blind. (Anjam-e-Atham, Ruhani Khazain Volume 11, page 46-48)
The Holy Qur’an then specifies that in the latter days the Christians will dominate the earth, and they shall be the cause of all kinds of mischief running rampant. Waves of calamities will rise on all sides and will race down from every height….They will possess great material strength and dominion, against which all other powers and states will seem powerless. They will also enjoy supremacy in all kinds of knowledge and sciences and establish new and wonderful industries. They will also be dominant in their policies, projects, and good administration, and will show great resolve in their worldly enterprises and will also excel in their endeavour to spread their faith. They will leave behind all other nations in their social, agricultural and commercial policies, as indeed in everything else. This is the meaning of:
مِنْ كُلِّ حَدَبٍ يَنْسِلُونَ
Hadab means high ground and Nasal means to run ahead and to excel. In other words, they will leave behind every other nation in whatever is great and prestigious. This is the major sign of the people of the latter days who were designated as Gog and Magog and this is also the sign of the mischievous group of Christian clerics who are called the Promised Dajjal. Since Hadab means an elevated part of the earth, this indicates that they will achieve all earthly heights but will be deprived of the spiritual heights. This proves that these people are called Gog and Magog in view of their national dominance. Among them are the people who have left no stone unturned in spreading misguidance and consequently came to be known as the Great Dajjal. And God Almighty has said that at the height of misguidance, the trumpet will be blown and people of all faiths will be assembled at one place. (Shahadatul Quran, Ruhani Khazain Volume 6, page 361-362)
Dajjal And The Misguided Maulvis
Remember, the sum total of the evils which the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prophesied would spread in the latter days, is Dajjaliyyat, of which the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has said there are hundreds of branches. Hence, those Maulavis are also branches of the tree of Dajjaliyat who blindly follow the beaten path and have abandoned the Holy Qur’an, so that though they recite it, it doesn’t get past their tongues. Today Dajjaliyat is spreading its web like a spider. The disbeliever with his disbelief, the hypocrite with hypocrisy, the alcoholic with his drinking, and the Maulavi with his preaching without practice and with his black heart, are all weaving the net of Dajjaliyat. Nothing can break up this web but the heavenly weapon, and no one can wield this weapon but ‘Isa who should descend from that very heaven. So ‘Isa has descended and the promise of God was bound to be fulfilled.(Nishan-e-Asmani, Ruhani Khazain, Volume 4, page 369)
The word ‘Messiah’ refers to the truthful one whose Masah (i.e. touch) as been blessed by God, and whose breath, word and speech have been given the power to give life. This word particularly applies to the Prophet who does not wage war and reforms mankind through his spiritual power alone. As against this, the word ‘Messiah’ also applies to the Promised Dajjal whose evil power and influence produce calamities, atheism and faithlessness. Even without employing coercive means to destroy the truth, he can make righteousness and love for God grow cold merely by concentration, speech, writing, association and by the influence of his satanic spirit. On the other hand, misconduct, drunkenness, lying, promiscuity, materialism, fraud, tyranny, oppression, famine and epidemics become the order of the day. These are the meanings which emerge from a collective study of standard Arabic lexicons like Lisan-ul-‘Arab; and these are the meanings which God has disclosed to me.(Ayyam Us Sulh, Ruhani Khazain volume 14 page 294)
Remember, it is also written about the Messiah—the bearer of spiritual blessings, whose advent in the latter days has been promised to the Muslims—that he would slay the Promised Dajjal. But it does not mean he will actually kill him with a gun or a sword. What it means is that he will do away with all deceitful innovations in religion. A study of Ahadith reveals that Dajjal is actually the name of Satan. (Ayyam us Sulh, Ruhani Khazain Volume 14, page 296-297
The Meaning of Dajjal Circuiting the Ka‘bah
Our Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saw in a vision that the Dajjal was performing the circuit of the Ka‘bah, and was doing it stealthily, like a thief, so that he could destroy the Ka‘bah whenever the opportunity offered…. Obviously, no one can say that the Dajjal would actually become a Muslim and perform the circuit of the Ka‘bah. Every intelligent person will interpret this revelation as a vision through which the spiritual condition of the Dajjal was revealed to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and that this allegory presented itself to him in a vision in which he saw the Dajjal was circuiting the Ka‘bah like an actual person. What it meant was that the Dajjal would be a bitter enemy of Islam and would hover around the Ka‘bah with evil intentions. We know that just as the watchman goes around the houses at night, so does a thief. But while the watchman seeks to protect the houses and to catch the thief, the thief’s motive is to steal and plunder. Thus the interpretation of this vision of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is that the Dajjal will be preoccupied with trying to violate the sanctity of the Ka‘bah, while the Promised Messiah, who was also seen performing circuit of the Ka‘bah, would be busy protecting the House of Allah and trying to apprehend the Dajjal.(Ayyam Us Sulh, Ruhani Khazain Volume 14 page 274-275)
The fact that both the Promised Messiah and the Dajjal will perform circuits of the Ka‘bah proves that this does not mean that they will physically perform circuits of the Ka‘bah, for in that case we would have to concede that the Dajjal will succeed in entering the Ka‘bah or that he will become a Muslim; both of which assertions go against the clear purport of Ahadith. This Hadith has to be interpreted, and the interpretation which God has made manifest to me is that, in the latter days, a group of people will emerge who will be called Dajjal. This group will be a bitter enemy of Islam, and, in order to completely bring down the structure of Islam, it will go circuiting round the Ka‘bah, which is the centre of Islam, like a thief. As against this, the Promised Messiah will also perform the circuit of the centre of Islam, which the Ka‘bah symbolises. The purpose of the Promised Messiah in performing the circuit of the Ka‘bah would be to apprehend the thief named Dajjal, and to safeguard the centre of Islam from his designs. We know that the thief goes around the houses at night and so does a watchman, but while the purpose of the thief is to rob and plunder a household, the purpose of the watchman is to apprehend the thief and to have him locked behind bars so that people are safeguarded from his mischief. Thus this Hadith indicates that in the latter days the thief, who is designated Dajjal, will try his utmost to demolish the structure of Islam, and that the Promised Messiah, out of his devotion to Islam, will raise his supplications to heaven, and that all angels will lend him their support so that he should be victorious in this last final battle. He will neither get tired, nor dejected, nor will he slacken his efforts, but will try his utmost to catch the thief. When his supplications reach their climax, God will see how his heart has melted in his love for Islam. Heaven will do what the earth cannot.
